Scholarships


How do I know if I’m eligible? s Applicant must be a U.S. citizen, permanent resident, or international student. s Applicants must have a high school diploma, GED, or have completed the Ability to Benefit.

s College students must be enrolled at least half-time or plan on enrolling at FVCC for the upcoming academic year (2016-2017) and have a cumulative 2.0 or higher grade point average (G.P.A.). s Previous scholarship recipients need to reapply each year for scholarships.

How do I apply? s Complete the attached application form. s Attach a current academic transcript (official or unofficial). s Attach a one-to-two-page essay discussing how your FVCC education will help

you achieve your educational goals, discuss what your educational goals are, explain your need for scholarship support, and give a brief account of your activities, community support, and employment. s Attach two letters of recommendation, including one letter from a faculty or staff member. The second letter should be from a community member, employer, family friend, or other non-relative who knows of your qualifications and character. If you are not a current student, both letters can be from a non-relative. s Please staple all documents together and drop off or mail to:

consideration. Applications received after March 15th will be considered for any additional scholarships that become available. s These scholarships are awarded for the 2016-2017 academic year. Additional scholarships are advertised and awarded on a semester-by-semester basis. s If you have any questions regarding the scholarship application, please contact the Financial Aid Office at (406) 756-3849. s The Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) must be filed for financial need scholarships.

When will I know if I received a scholarship? s All recipients will be notified of their status by May 15th. s All students who receive awards will be expected to write a note of thanks to the donor.

FVCC is grateful to the many community donors who provide scholarship assistance. All students are invited to apply and scholarship recipients are encouraged to attend the annual scholarship recognition ceremony.

Merit-Based Scholarships Merit-based scholarships are based on GPA, program of study, and/or activities.
