Future-Focused Conference Program Set for CEDIA Expo 2023

CEDIA Expo is expanding educational programming for CEDIA Expo 2023. Curated by CEDIA, the global membership association for the home technology industry, CEDIA Expo Conference features over 90 sessions, half of which are brand new.

“The pace of change is accelerating,” said Mandy Beckner, vice president of education and training for CEDIA. “This year’s conference program is designed to prepare business owners and technical professionals to navigate the shifting landscape. Our worldclass instructors will tackle hot topics ranging from network security and artificial intelligence to business succession planning and dealing with a recession.”

 In-depth exploration of changes to the 2023 National Electrical Code (NFPA 70) led by Michael Cogbill and CEDIA director of technical education Ken Erdmann.

The conference is also designed to help the integration community understand how emerging technologies will impact their work and create new opportunities. This year’s program features cuttingedge sessions on content technologies, network protocols, blockchain security and accessible and biophilic design, as well as sessions dedicated to the fast-growing lighting and resimercial markets.

Conference attendees will receive expert guidance on how these trends are reflected by the exhibition. Two of CEDIA’s highest-rated instructors, Rich Green, founder of Rich Green Design, and Michael Heiss of M. Heiss Consulting, will present a “PreGame” session offering their insights into what to expect from the show floor. Women in Consumer Technology (WiCT), an organization that promotes the advancement of women in the consumer technology industry, is hosting its annual CEDIA EXPO networking reception and luncheon on Friday, Sept. 8, at 11:30 a.m. MT. Now in its 15th year, the event will open with a networking reception featuring a bloody mary and bellini bar, followed by the luncheon and keynote from Qadra Evans. Evans is a member of the executive leadership team of the educational movement “The House That She Built,” and Zillow’s director of industry relations for new construction.

During the WiCT luncheon keynote, Evans will share the inspiring story of “The House That She

Built,” which has a mission to support workforce development initiatives in the construction industry by generating awareness of the skilled trades to the largest underrepresented community. Based on Mollie Elkman’s book, published by the National Association of Home Builders (NAHB), “The House That She Built” aims to educate young girls and get them excited about construction by raising awareness on the viability of construction jobs for women.

Kipfer will unpack issues like the primary considerations in the mounting system and load capacities, the customer’s unique use case and how that impacted the choices and the specifics of the highly customizable control platform.

David J. Danto, director of emerging technology for IMCCA and director of UC strategy and research for HP/Poly, will host an engaging presentation on

designing workspaces to be magnets, not mandated environments. Danto’s presentation, “Magnet Not Mandate—Designing Workspaces for the Office,” will share insights on creating collaboration centers of excellence and equipping them to support the mission.

Attendees can gather knowledge to maintain high margins in the face of commoditization in digital signage. The session, “Understanding Profitability in Digital Signage,” presented by DSF, will uncover insights on increasing value and the opportunity of selling through understanding, collaboration and problem-solving.

NSCA will host a hands-on workshop that will require attendees to dive into each segment of the project lifecycle, from the first recognition of the project to the project completion and closeout documentation. The process is simple. You provide Draper At Home with a color number from one of several paint manufacturers or from Pantone. You can also send a sample, such as a piece of fabric, a paint chip or something else. Draper’s Certified Digital Color Professionals have trained with the Printing United Alliance, an industry trade organization, to become experts at producing consistent and accurate color.

Despite the addition of custom color, a shade order won’t take forever: creating a made to order fabric color adds only a few days to the process.

BOOTH 2133 Origin Acoustics is expanding its focus and product line in the professional AV marketplace with the launch of its new brand, Origin Pro. In turn, Origin Pro is appointing Starin as its exclusive commercial distributor.
