RCCP-2A Robotic Camera Control Panel Advanced Features Provide Next-Generation Customization and Control
Managing human and technical resources for maximum ROI is often a challenging endeavor for studio management. There are schedules to keep, operators to train and producers to satisfy. With camera robotics, an entire multicamera production can be produced from a central location by a single operator, whether that be for a newscast or a government or corporate meeting that is being streamed across the country. The new RCCP-2A Robotic Camera Control Panel has been designed to meet the needs of today’s television productions with a customizable panel design and two application-specific software package options that include an additional drag-and-drop touchscreen interface with built-in image clips and captions. This allows fast and easy recall of presets. The compact yet powerful RCCP-2A’s control surface is populated with illuminated dynamic graphical TeleKeys™ that automatically change to show options relevant to the operator’s task at hand. It’s fully customizable dials, levers and knobs make it easier to operate robotic cameras, elevating columns and OmniGlide™ Robotic Roving Platform (RRP-1) pedestals. Additionally, six TeleKeys on the top row of the main button panel automatically present user-determined commonly used functions related to the current operation. Another six user-configurable “Hot TeleKeys,” located above the right joystick, can instantly bring an operator to a desired camera setting. The second joystick gives operators the freedom to change the camera positioning quickly and accommodates left- and right-handed operators.
The RCCP-2A can optionally include Studio (STS) software that features Telemetrics’ exclusive reFrame™ Automatic Shot Framing and Tracking technology. This facial recognition/ auto-tracking feature uses advanced software to keep on-screen talent perfectly framed and automatically corrects when talent has unexpectedly shifted — without the operator having to manually touch the controls. A virtual “Studio View” display shows physical locations of all robotics within a 3D representation of the studio. Additionally, a Robotics Status display can also be selected, showing all major robotics parameters — such as pan/tilt angles, elevation height, rotational status and lens information — at a glance. Using the Telemetrics RCCP-2A control panel with Legislative (LGS) software, an operator with limited production skills can select any number of cabinet members in a large chamber they want to feature on camera and store their facial profiles into the system. The operator can then simply tap an icon for that person on the control panel’s touchscreen interface and the corresponding camera moves to properly frame that person. For large government assemblies and other applications in which multiple people need to be spotlighted during a production, Telemetrics has made the RCCP-2A so smart that it can recognize when a different person has sat in a pre-selected chair and, upon recognizing it’s a different person, automatically switches the on-screen titles for the new person. It no longer has to be done manually. The complete flexibility and comprehensive functionality of the new RCCP-2A control panel is desperately needed within the industry and will help operators create more content with minimal resources.
