Sponge EPDM Profiles in Automobiles


INTRODUCTION • One of the critical functions of sponge EPDM profiles is as sealant in automobiles. • It is used with metal and adhesive to form secure and durable bonds that seal the various compartments in an a utomobile. • These are critical parts that decide the automobile’s ride, fuel efficiency, security, electrical control, thermal man agement, transmission, cooling, brake and battery functions. • Sponge EPDM profiles are preferred because their production values are very high, the products can be highly c ustomized and are of a very high quality. • When used in various sealing parts, the rubber is often combined with metals, elastomer jacket and specially tre ated sealing lip. • The metal gives the parts its stable shape when required. • The EPDM sealing parts are specially designed to ensure that parts press against the surface and the sealing is c omplete.


Why are sponge EPDM profiles preferred? • EPDM profiles have many qualities that make them useful when used in sealing products, such as:  Weight reduction:  Sponge EPDM is one of the lightest building materials.  just that, it is also dimensionally very stable.  This allows us to build components with very thin walls without compromising on its integrity.  The resultant part is extremely light.  Building with lighter parts is a priority in automobiles, since it lowers the weight on the engine and i mproves the fuel efficiency.    

Low handling costs: EPDM is lightweight with a rigid structure. This means that we can build the product and install it without any fuss. It does not requires special handling for maintaining the integrity of the structure and the transporta tion costs can be kept low because of the lightness of the material.

Easy assembly It is an easy to assemble product because of its malleability. The sponge EPDM is built for the design and meant to adhere quickly and seamlessly. We can build the parts to any specification, allowing customization. This further allows us to keep costs low.

 Finishing:  The sponge EPDM profiles can compensate for a less than perfect metal finishing.  The sponge parts cover the uneven surface of the metal, hiding and covering up any spaces left behin d or the rough finish.  This is a significant cost saver. Functions of sponge EPDM profiles in automobile sealing:      

Ride control: We use O-rings, buffer rings, and back-up rings. The objective of the sealing parts here is to provide a smooth driving and passenger experience. This is achieved by stabilizing the steering and ensuring that the handling stays smooth and easy. Another important purpose is to maximize passenger comfort by focusing on improving the shock ab sorbers and suspension system. The parts have to offer low friction with excellent wear and chemical resistance.

Air conditioning: The sealing has to fulfill environmental norms of zero leakages. It should fit into small places and be able to operate under high pressure. The sponge EPDM profiles used here have to withstand heavy wear.

 Brakes:  These are critical parts that decide the efficiency of a breaking system.  The parts have to be of consistent quality and highly resistant to brake fluids.
