80th Anniversary
offin & Casket manufacturer and funeral goods supply company Finlay celebrates three anniversaries this year when it marks its eightieth year in business and also the 30th anniversaries of Dermot Sharpe and Martin Carroll joining the company. The company which was founded in 1933 by Jack Finlay originally traded under the Ardee Coffin Works name and then in later years as Finlays of Ardee and more recently as Finlay. In 1958 Jack was joined in the business by his son Colman Snr and they were subsequently joined by Colman in 1989 and John in 1990. When spoken to recently Colman said; “We are very fortunate to be able to celebrate these milestones in our company’s history and I would like to pay tribute and say thank you to our customers, our staff and to our suppliers for their support over the years. When I joined the business I served time under and learned a great deal from both my Grandfather and my Father on all tasks from our sawmill through to customer deliveries, but I also learned and still continue to learn from other members of our team including Martin and Dermot, to whom I would like to pay a special tribute and to thank them for their superb contribution to our business. Today our directors are just one part of a dynamic team of employees who work hard to further develop our all island customer service in Coffin, Casket, Monumental, and non-coffin Funeral Products which is at the heart of what Finlay stands for”.
Dermot Sharpe Company Profile
Dermot, originally from Donegal with his father hailing from Cork, joined Finlay in 1983, having had a strong background in Sales & Marketing. Dermot is no stranger to most Funeral Directors, as he covers Sales in Dublin, Munster, South Leinster and Donegal. Dermot enjoys meeting and keeping up relations with his client Funeral Directors as he values their friendship and advice. Dermot’s son Daniel also works with Finlay. Martin Carroll Company Profile
Martin also joined Finlay in 1983 having previously worked for a local furniture factory. During his time with the company Martin has worked in different areas of the factory including machining, assembly, mounting & lining and dispatch.
