ON-CAMPUS HOUSING
Move-In and Room Density
• Move in is scheduled between August 10 – 23. o Move-in appointments are spaced over 14 days. Approximately 350-400 students will move-in each day. • All students living on campus will take a COVID-19 test as they arrive for move-in. Students will start at the Tucker Civic Center to take a mandated COVID-19 test prior to arriving at the residence hall to move in. Students must pre-register for this test here, at least 24 hours in advance. • Decreased density in the residence halls has been achieved by closing quadruple rooms, converting triple rooms to doubles, and converting all double bedrooms in Salley Hall to single bedrooms.
Common Spaces
• All lounges, laundry rooms, and kitchen areas will be limited to 25% capacity. • To reduce frequently touched surfaces, University Housing removed microwaves from kitchens, disabled ice machines, and covered water fountain spouts (leaving only the bottle filling stations active). • Elevators will be limited to 1 person, a roommate pair, or 1 resident and their guest. Students will be encouraged to utilize the stairs.
Meetings and Events
• University Housing staff will plan virtual floor meetings and arrange for small group engagement in lobbies or outside to help students get acquainted. • Residence hall program size is limited to 25% of lounge capacity, and social distancing/ face covering protocols are in place when students are not in individual rooms. • Staff will meet virtually with students whenever possible. In-person interactions will take place in areas where distancing can be at least six feet and all people present are wearing face coverings. • Residence Life student leader groups will meet virtually for the fall.
Guests
• The guest policy has been adjusted to allow 1 guest per student in the room at a time during the guest hours of 12:00 noon – 12:00 midnight. The guest must be a resident of on campus housing. Overnight guests are prohibited.
Cleaning & Sanitizing in Residence Halls
• University Housing will continue daily cleaning of all areas, trash removal, and facility care. o Staff will sanitize surfaces most commonly touched twice daily Monday through Friday, but not on weekends.
o Front desk staff will wipe down items borrowed by students (e.g. board game boxes, keys). o All administrative staff will clean their own work spaces and remove their own trash to a public container or dumpster. Students will be expected to clean their rooms/apartments and bathrooms throughout the fall. This includes after being in quarantine or isolation.
ON-CAMPUS ISOLATION PROTOCOL
• Rogers Hall will serve as the Isolation Housing for any on-campus student who tests positive for COVID-19. • Students may choose to go to Rogers Hall for isolation or to leave campus and remain in isolation with family. Students may not return to their assigned residence hall without clearance from UHS. • Residents will need to provide their own bedding and other necessary supplies while in Isolation Housing. • Rogers Hall will not be staffed. The temporary residents will have a number to call if they need a Residence Life staff member. • University Health Services staff will maintain contact with students isolating in the halls, and students may also use TeleHealth to obtain assistance. Students should monitor their symptoms regularly under the guidance of University Health Services. In an emergency, students should call 911. • All students in Rogers should remain in their room as much as possible and maintain social distancing when in public areas. • Students can arrange with SODEXO or off campus vendors for contactless delivery of food. • Cleaning of Rogers will be outsourced to an appropriate cleaning company for both daily sanitizing and room cleaning turnover. • University Housing’s maintenance team will be trained and equipped with PPE and procedures for responding to maintenance emergencies in Rogers Hall. • University Health Services will determine where any student who has been hospitalized and released will return (Rogers Hall or assigned residence hall) and will communicate that to University Housing.
OFF-CAMPUS HOUSING
• FSU is not able to provide isolation housing for any student who resides off-campus, including those who live in fraternity and sorority houses. • Off-campus apartments will be treated as households. Roommates will need to socially distance themselves and clean regularly to avoid the spread of COVID-19 within their apartments. • FSU will communicate with local landlords that they should restrict lounge spaces, pools, gyms, and other areas to avoid crowds that cannot maintain a 6-foot distance. • Students should regularly clean their rooms/apartments, bathrooms, and common spaces.
