- Espermicidas y esponjas: Son sustancias químicas que destruyen o inhiben la movilidad de los espermatozoides, el porcentaje de efectividad para prevenir un embarazo es de entre el 50% y el 60%; y pueden
causar irritación y reacciones alérgicas en los genitales externos e interno de la mujer.
- Coito interrumpido: aunque propiamente este no es un método de barrera, se considera al coito interrumpido como la eyaculación de los espermatozoides fuera del cuerpo de la mujer. Su efectividad es del 73%,77 con
uso común, en muchas ocasiones debido a que el líquido preeyaculatorio contiene espermatozoides por lo que, en caos que la mujer se encuentre en periodo fértil, podría haber fecundación.
