Williams Will Lead Young Eagles

When Winthrop’s 2016-17 season gets underway Eagle fans will definitely need to pick up a game program in order to put a name to the new faces on a roster that contains nine new players, including eight freshmen.

But one name that will need no introduction is that of senior forward Erica Williams who is back after missing the final 12 games last year due to a broken foot. Coach Kevin Cook is looking for Williams to have a season befitting a preseason All-Big South Conference first team selection.

The Eagles will also have the junior twin guard tandem of Naima and Nuba Jackson, senior guard CiiCii Buford, and redshirt junior forward Ronata Rogers returning from last season’s injury plagued roster.

“I feel good about this year’s group. Yes, we have many newcomers, but we return Erica Williams and she has been a tremendous leader during the preseason. If she can remain healthy, I am looking for a big year from Erica,” says Cook, who is beginning his fifth year at the Winthrop helm.

“CiiCii Buford has given us great senior leadership as well and the twins, Naima and Nuba Jackson, should be able to contribute in a big way.

Williams was headed toward an All-Big South season a year ago after being picked on the preseason All-BSC first team, but 18 games into the year, she went out with the foot injury. At the time of her injury, she was leading the conference in scoring at 16.4 points per game and was averaging 7.3 rebounds. Williams became the 18th player in Winthrop women’s basketball history to reach the 1,000-Point Club and will enter her senior year with 1,273 points to rank 8th on the scoring list. With a season like she had as a freshman or sophomore, she could move past Kim Segars (1,699 pts.) and into second place on the all-time scoring list before

“I’m proud of Erica as a player, but I’ve been just as proud of the growth she has made this summer as far as being a true leader. She understands what that’s about. She was hesitant to try and lead earlier in her career. This is something we lacked in previous years, so good leadership is a very welcome thing,” said the Eagles’ coach.

Naima Jackson played in all 30 games as a sophomore and started 23 times while averaging 7.8 points per outing. Her sister, Nuba, averaged

3.8 points in 29 games with seven starts. Buford played in 25 games and started 13 times while averaging 4.7 points per game. Rogers, who returned last season after suffering a knee injury, averaged 4.1 points and 5.7 rebounds in 23 games with 16 starts.

Team Chemistry Is Good

With so many new players, the obvious question heading into the season is about team chemistry. “I think it’s good. I think it’s solid, but it is something we have to work on every day.” Says

Junior guard Naima Jackson is a tough perimeter defender Cook. “Our new players are understanding our culture and they are grasping what we are trying to do on both sides of the ball. The overall attitude has been tremendous and it is very refreshing.”

Going into the season, the theme for this year’s team is ‘Believe.’ “Believe in yourself, believe in your teammates, and believe in your coaching staff. Just believe.” Says Cook.

Cook expects the eight healthy newcomers to make immediate contributions “They will have to grow quickly, but I’m confident that someone is going to step up. The rotation is going to take care of itself.

After the practices and early games, we will be able to settle on a rotation which at this point, except for Erica, is open,” he says.

In addition to the rash of season-ending injuries that hit the Eagles last year, another problem that plagued the team was outside shooting. Cook says the staff tried to address that concern in its recruiting efforts. “Time will tell,” he says. “Cantrell is a proven

BELIEVE! shooter and Santoro averaged over 20 a game. Noell Kellers has 3-point range as well, and Naima has worked extremely hard and I believe she will be able to stretch her shot.

Talented Newcomers

After suffering through a tough 2015-16 season that saw the roster depleted to just six players on occasion because of injuries, Cook is looking forward to a team that shouldn’t lack for depth.

“As far as the newcomers, we have three people who can play the point,” he says. “Danyael Goodhope, Miquela Santoro, and Noell Kellers all are capable.” Cook says the point guard is wide open heading into the season. He says Santoro and Kellers can also move over to the second guard position as well.

Goodhope comes to Winthrop from Virginia 5A power Princess Anne H.S. in Virginia Beach. She helped lead that school to three state titles. She was the starting point guard for three years and as a senior led her team to a 30-2 record and a national ranking of 33 while averaging 13 points and dishing out 100 assists

Santoro played at Clinton-Massie H.S. in Clarksville, Ohio and averaged 21 points, 5.4 assists and 4.8 rebounds as a senior. She connected on 49 percent of her field goals, including 53 percent from behind the 3-point arc.

Kellers is a sophomore transfer from Trinity Community College after a stellar three-year career at Desert Mountain H.S. in Scottsdale, Arizona. She averaged 10.3 points and connected on 31 percent of her 3-point field goals for her career. As a sophomore she ranked fifth in the state with a 16.6 scoring average, and she holds the Arizona 5A record for most free throws made in a game with 22.

Last year’s team was hampered by poor perimeter shooting, but Cook is looking for freshman shooting guard Marissa Cantrell out of Atlanta, Georgia to provide some an outside shooting touch. Cantrell averaged 15 points, 5 rebounds and 3 assists for Westlake H.S., the same school that produced Carolina Panthers quarterback Cam Newton. She was a second team All-State selection by the Atlanta JournalConstitution.

Coello Perez is a 6-1 swing player from Vilgo,

2016-17 Women’s Basketball Spain where she played for Real Club Cebalt the past four years. Last season she averaged 11.1 points and 13 rebounds while connecting on 51 percent from the floor and 73 percent from the foul line.

Another swing player is 6-0 Teylahna Green from Newark, New Jersey. Green is adjusting to the college game, but is expected to provide needed rebounding, according to Cook. “

Green was the total rebounds leader in New Jersey high school basketball last year with 411. She had career highs of 23 points and 20 rebounds and averaged 13.7 rebounds to go along with 7.3 points per game while playing for University H.S.

In the post, the Eagles will have good size, but they will be young with three freshmen stepping in.

The trio includes two 6-4 center—Uchechi Ufochukwu from Nigeria by way of Baltimore, Maryland and Amari Grevious from Orangeburg, South Carolina— and 6-2 Zaria McBride from Reynoldsburg, Ohio., who could possibly miss the season with an Achilles tendon injury.

Cook says Ufochukwu (pronounced oo-foechuck-woo) is a bit ahead of Grevious (pronounced Grieve-us) going into the season. She prefers to be called Uche (oo-Chey) by her teammates and coaches. Uche averaged 8.5 points and 11.3 rebounds last year while playing for Archbishop Carroll H.S. in Washington, DC.

Grevious played at Orangeburg-Wilkinson H.S. where she averaged 9.9 points, 6.5 rebounds and 3.1 blocked shots per game as a senior.

McBride was highly touted coming out of Whitehall Yearling H.S.as she was listed in the Top 100

BELIEVE! players on Dan Olson’s Collegiate Girls Basketball Report/ESPNW ratings. She averaged 18 points and 12 rebounds as a senior and 15.1 points and 10 rebounds as a sophomore at Columbus Academy before transferring to Whitehall Yearling.

In addition to the influx of new players, Cook also brought in two new assistant coaches and a new director of basketball operations. One might call it the ‘Dream Staff’ with women’s basketball legend Lynette Woodard, the all-time leading scorer in women’s Division I history, a 1984 Olympic champion and team captain, and the first female member of the famed Harlem Globetrotters, and Ashley Johnson, a four-time Final Four participant while at LSU, joining Marvin Harvey, known throughout the basketball world as ‘The Shot Doctor. Senior CiiCii Buford is looking to have her best season at Winthrop

Janko Popovic is back for a second year.

“I’m elated with our staff. They have been absolutely tremendous, starting with our GA Janko. You give him a project and he gets it done very efficiently and better than you thought it could be done. Amani is a grinder and loves what she does. She is always asking what can I do to help us win. Ashley hit the ground running. She is not only going to establish herself as one of the top recruiters regionally, but also in the entire country. Marvin’s resume speaks for itself and is one of the top names in women’s basketball. Lynette is a people person who is loyal and driven. She will be a positive role model for our players. When she talks, our players stop and listen. Her wisdom is off the chart.”

Another Tough Schedule

“I thought last year’s schedule was tough,” said Cook, “but this year’s schedule may be tougher.

Every opponent on our schedule is to be reckoned with. After our first four games, we head to the Virgin Island where we will meet Florida State, Michigan and Gonzaga. Florida State could be an Elite Eight Team. Michigan out of the Big Ten is very tough and Gonzaga is a traditionally strong program.

Then we go to Baylor, who is a threat to make the Final Four and win it all, followed by Ohio State, who could also win it all.”

After playing just 11 home games last season, Cook has lined up 15 games in the friendly confines of the Winthrop Coliseum, something the fans should enjoy.

“Scheduling is tricky. Everybody has their own agenda. Naturally we want to play as many home games as we can. We hope to have this number of home games every year,” says Cook.

Looking at the Big South race, Cook is in agreement with the preseason poll which has defending champion UNC Asheville as the favorite. “Asheville is coming off an outstanding season and returns basically everyone from that team. Radford gets four injured players back to go with an already strong group. High Point returns everybody, and the rest of the conference will be tough. As far as us being picked 10th, I understand it because the coaches aren’t that familiar with all of our newcomers. There is nowhere to go but up for us.”

Meet The 2016-17 Coaches and Players

evin Cook is in his fifth season as head coach of the Winthrop women’s basketball program.

During his first four seasons, Cook guided the Eagles to their first-ever NCAA Tournament appearance and Big South Conference Championship, and the program’s first Division I postseason win in the 2013 WNIT. Under his direction, the Eagles achieved back-toback 20-plus win seasons for the first time in school history in 2012-13 and 2013-14. His record at Winthrop stands at 66-60 while overall he is 113-115 in eight years.

The former four-time WNBA world champion became the 14th head coach in program history on June 5, 2012 following one year as an assistant coach.

In 2013-14, Cook directed Winthrop to its finest season ever as a NCAA Division I member as the Eagles finished 24-9 enroute to capturing the Big South Tournament title and earning the league’s automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament. The 2013-14

success came a year after Cook led the Eagles to only their second post-season appearance and first post-season victory since becoming a NCAA school in 1985 as they earned a spot in the Women’s National Invitational Tournament and defeated Florida Gulf Coast in the first round on the road. As a result of Winthrop’s successful season in 2012-13, Cook was named one of three NCAA Mid-Major Rookie Head Coaches of the Year. During his one year as a Winthrop assistant, he helped guide the Eagles to an 18-13 record. In 2014-15, Cook led the Eagles to their fourth straight winning season as they finished with a 17-13 record.

Cook’s experience goes beyond the collegiate level as he was on the staff for 10 years of the Houston Comets dynasty of the WNBA. The Comets captured the first four WNBA championships and made the playoffs nine out of the first 10 years. He also served as an assistant coach for the victorious West squad in the WNBA’s first three All-Star games.

For capturing its championships, Cook accompanied the Comets players and coaches to four different White House visits where the teams were recognized for their achievements.

Cook was able to meet former president’s George H.W. Bush, Bill Clinton and George W. Bush during his time with the Comets. On July 23, 2011 the WNBA released its Top 15 players of All-Time list and four Comet players that Cook coached made the list (Sheryl Swoopes, Dawn Staley, Cynthia Cooper and Tina Thompson). Another of his former Comet stars, Brazilian great Janeth Arcain, will be enshrined in the Women’s Basketball Hall of Fame on June 13 of next summer.

Prior to his arrival with the Houston Comets, Cook served as an Associate Head Coach for the University of Houston from 1995-97. From 1983-1993, Cook was an assistant coach at the University of Kansas under Women’s Basketball Hall of Famer, Marian E. Washington. During his time in Lawrence, Cook helped the Jayhawks to four conference champion-

ships, four NCAA Tournament appearances and two WNIT berths.

Immediately prior to arriving at Winthrop, Cook spent four seasons as the head coach of Gallaudet University in Washington, D.C. where he led his team to a 24-4 record during the 2010-11 season and was named the WBCA Region III Coach of the Year. Gallaudet is the world’s only all-deaf college.

Cook’s international coaching experience comes from having led the Nigeria women’s basketball national team. He coached the Nigerian national team in the 2006 World Championships in Sao Paulo, Brazil and in 2007 he helped guide the team to a 7-1 record for a Silver Medal at the All-Africa Games in Algiers, Algeria.

During the past eight years, Cook has visited six African countries hosting basketball fundamental clinics for coaches and players, and accompanied a Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA) Mission Trip to Haiti during the summer of 2013. He has also served as a coach for several traveling teams, including teams that traveled to Brazil and Russia, and coached a traveling team that defeated the 2001 University of Connecticut squad.

In addition to his 2011 WBCA Region III Coach of the Year award, Cook has received several other honors. On April 5, 2010 he was named the winner of the WBCA prestigious Carol Eckman Award, was inducted into the Urbana University Hall of Fame in October of 2010 and in May of 2011 was the commencement speaker for Urbana University. He is now a voting member of the CollegeInsider.com Mid-Major Top 25 Poll.

The 55-year-old Cook is a native of Fremont, Ohio, and graduated with a degree in Social Science from Urbana University and received his Master of Administration degree from Gallaudet University in 2010.

Cook is married to Francine and they have two daughters, Keshana, a graduate of Wichita State, and Kayla, a junior at Highland Community College (KS).

The Supporting Cast Lynette Woodard

Lynette Woodard, a two-time U.S. Olympian, a four-time All-American, the all-time Division I women’s scoring leader, a 10-time Hall of Fame inductee, and the first woman to play for the world-renowned Harlem Globetrotters is beginning her first season as an assistant coach on Kevin Cook’s staff.

A native of Wichita, KS, Woodard played college basketball for the Kansas Lady Jayhawks and noted head coach Marian Washington. During her fouryear career, Woodard scored 3,649 points and helped lead KU to three straight Big Eight championships while breaking 24 school records. She was voted to the Kodak All-American team all four years, was the 1981Wade Trophy winner which goes to the college player of the year, and was a GTE Academic All-America selection. Woodard graduated from Kansas in 1981 with a degree in speech communications.

Woodard, who is considered a pioneer in women’s basketball, was inducted into the Kansas Hall of Fame in 1990, the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame in 2002 and 2004, the Globetrotter Hall of Fame in 2004, and the Women’s Basketball Hall of Fame in 2005.

While still in college Woodard began playing in international tournaments, traveling to the Soviet Union in 1979, where she helped the U.S. women’s team win a gold medal in the World University Games. In 1980 Woodard earned a place on the U.S. Olympic women’s basketball team. This achievement was dimmed, how-

ever, when the United States boycotted the Moscow Olympic Games. She was also part of the U.S. team that captured the gold in the 1983 Pan Am Games in Caracas, Venezuela.

When Woodard graduated from Kansas, she played two years in the Italian Women’s Professional League before returning to the U.S. in 1983 and made the most of her second Olympic opportunity when she captained the 1984 U.S. Olympic team to the gold medal at the Los Angeles Games.

After winning the gold, Woodard had a chance to make a childhood dream come true when she tried out for the Harlem Globetrotters. She was among 10 women who competed for a chance to play with the Globetrotters and made history when she became the first female to join the famous team of basketball ambassadors in 1985.

In 1987 Woodard decided to leave the Globetrotters and return to professional play abroad. She played two more seasons in Italy, helping her team to the Italian league championships in 1989, and then went to Japan, where she played for the Daina Securities team from 1990 to 1993, winning the division championship in 1992.

She returned to the U.S. and worked for a time for the New York Stock Exchange before taking the position of director of athletics for the Kansas City, KS school system for two years until 1997 when she came out of retirement to play in the newly formed Women’s National Basketball Association. She played one year for the Cleveland Rockers and one year for the Detroit Shock before officially retiring as a player.

In 1999, she returned to KU as an assistant coach under Coach Washington where she served for four seasons alongside Cook. When Washington retired for health reasons in 2003, Woodard served as interim head coach in 2003-2004. In 2006, Kansas Governor Kathleen Sebelius appointed her to serve as co-chair of her new Governor’s Council on Fitness.Career Highlights

Marvin HARVEY

Marvin Harvey, a world renowned shooting instructor, is beginning his secondyear as an assistant coach on the Winthrop women’s basketball coaching staff.

Harvey, who is known as the “Teacher”, has been a shooting instructor and coach since 1982, and has been educating shooters around the globe for the past 20 years. Harvey’s international teachings started in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, in 1995 and have expanded to include other South American countries as well as Cuba, Mexico, South Korea, Australia, Russia and many parts of Europe and South Africa. In 2009, he was hired as the Shooting Coach for the WNBA Eastern Conference Champion Indiana Fever.

“We are extremely excited for what Coach Harvey brings to the table,” said Cook, “He is a dynamic teacher and arguably one of the top player development coaches in America. I want what is best for our players and Marvin brings a wealth of expertise and innovative ideas to the Winthrop program.”

2016-17 Women’s Basketball Harvey, age 61, designed and developed his signature basketball training program “the new fundamentals” and a state-of-the-art basketball training facility called the ShotLAB with headquarters in Tampa, Florida, and other locations throughout the world.

“I am honored and grateful to join the Winthrop women’s basketball program. I want to help the Eagles sustain and build on all aspects of the game,” says Harvey, who began his new duties at Winthrop on May 1.

As a basketball coach he has won over 400 games at the high school and college level. He began his playing career at Penn Valley Community College and played his final two years at Ottawa University from which he graduated in 1980. Following his collegiate career, he attended three NBA training camps before deciding to begin his coaching career.

Harvey has also served as shooting coach for the WNBA’s Houston Comets. His work on the collegiate level has included stints with the Kansas women’s program under Coach Marian Washington and men’s team coached by Larry Brown. In 1999, he served as the assistant women’s coach at South Alabama.

Ashley Johnson

assistant coach Former LSU standout Ashley Johnson is in her first season as an assistant coach for the Winthrop women’s basketball program.

Johnson’s playing career spanned from 2004 to 2008 as she helped lead LSU to four consecutive appearances in the Final Four and three Southeastern Conference regular season championships. During her playing career, LSU compiled the winningest class in that program’s history with a record of 12521. She served as team captain during her junior and senior years.

BELIEVE! Following graduation in 2008 with a bachelor’s degree in marketing and a minor in sports studies, Johnson served as a graduate assistant at LSU and earned a MBA in 2010. She joined Northrup Grumman in its information systems sector in 2010 before taking a management position with Points of Light in Atlanta in 2013.

In June 2014, she was hired as director of program development with the University of Central Florida women’s basketball team where she worked with recruiting and served as the video coordinator.

“Ashley brings a winning pedigree to Winthrop,” said Winthrop head coach Kevin Cook. “As a player at LSU, she played in four Final Fours which should catch the attention of recruits. She is a caring individual that our players will relate to.”

Johnson is the wife of former professional football player, Tremaine Johnson (Minnesota Vikings). They have a one year old daughter, Ava.

Following her collegiate career, Franklin played professional basketball in Germany and Finland from 2011 to 2013 until she joined the UK staff in 2014.

“We are very happy to have Amani join our Winthrop staff,” said Eagles head coach Kevin Cook.

“Amani is a grinder and I like that she is a perfectionist who will add a lot to our program.”

Franklin says she is thankful for the opportunity that Cook has given her to be a part of his Winthrop staff. “He is a proven winner, not only at Winthrop but in the WNBA as well. I look forward to serving our student-athletes as we all work towards our goals for this season,” she said.

Former University of Kentucky player Amani Franklin, a native of Stone Mountain, Georgia, is in her first year as the Director of Basketball Operations for Winthrop women’s basketball.

Franklin was a four-year member of the Kentucky Wildcats team that reached the 2010 NCAA Tournament Elite 8. She received a bachelor’s degree from UK in agricultural economics with a minor in business. She has been pursuing a master’s degree in sports management from Morehead State University while serving as a staff support associate for the UK women’s program where her duties have

Janko Popovic, a native of Belgrade Serbia and a graduate of LeMoyne-Owen College in Memphis, is serving is second season as the graduate assistant for women’s basketball.

Popovic graduated with cum laude honors from LeMoyne-Owen in 2014 and is pursuing a MBA degree at Winthrop.

He came to the United States in 2009 and attended Mountain State Academy where he played high school basketball for one year. He completed his senior season by competing in the ESPN Rise National Tournament. He went on to play for two years at Glenville State in West Virginia before transferring to LeMoyne-Owen. Following graduation, he spent a year in Belgrade working with Pro Future Sports, a recruiting agency.

Three-time Big South Conference Player of the Year Dequesha McClanahan,is the conference’s all-time scoring and assist leader with 2,277 points and 744 assists.

She signed a contract to play professionally in Finland.

Iva Milevoj

Iva Milevoj was an All-Big South First Team selection and led the Big South in assists per game in 200506. Milevoj played professionally in Iceland and Croatia.

Charlotta Wennefors

Charlotte Wennefors is the only Lady Eagle to be named Big South Conference Scholar Athlete of the Year

Leigh-Ann Pursifull

Leigh-Ann Pursifull was a two-time All-Big South selection. Pursifull went on to play professionaly in Sweden for two years. In her second season with Brahe/JBC of the Damligan Elitserien, Pursifull made the South All-Star Team.

She was inducted into the Winthrop Hall of Fame in 2012.

Tiffany Rodd signed a contract to play with BSG Ludwigsburg of the Damen Bundesliga in Germany.

Was a three-year starter for the Lady Eagles and is Winthrop’s third all-time leader in assists. van Daalen is just the third Lady Eagle to play professionally and played for the Saarlouis Royals of the German National Basketball League

Dr. Daniel F. Mahony Winthrop’s 11th President

B.S. in accounting from Virginia Tech, 1987 M.S. in sport management from West Virginia, 1990 Ph.D. in sport management from Ohio State, 1995

Dr. Daniel F. Mahony became Winthrop University’s 11th president on July 1, 2015, after serving for seven years as dean of the College of Education, Health, and Human Services and a professor of sport management at Kent State University in Ohio.

Dr. Mahony also spent 13 years as a faculty member and administrator at the University of Louisville where his positions included sport administration program director, department chair, associate dean, assistant provost, and associate provost. Prior to his faculty and administrative positions, Dr. Mahony worked in both public accounting and intercollegiate athletics.

He earned a B.S. in accounting from Virginia Tech, an M.S. in sport management from West Virginia University, and a Ph.D. in sport management from Ohio State University. He is an active researcher in the areas of sport consumer behavior and intercollegiate athletics and has published more than 60 articles in various refereed journals, several book chapters, and one book.

Dr. Mahony received the 2007 Earle F. Zeigler Award from the North American Society for Sport Management (NASSM) for his research contributions to the field.

He is a NASSM Research Fellow and served as the association’s president from 2003-2004. Dr. Mahony is the recipient of the 2015 McInnis/Ryan Award from the American Association of University Administrators (AAUA), which recognized his principled and ethical leadership practices, and his scholarship regarding issues of justice and ethics in college, high school and professional sport.

Originally from Clinton, New Jersey, Dr. Mahony has been married for more than 20 years to wife Laura, with whom he has two children, son Gavin and daughter Elena

Ken Halpin, Ph.D. Athletic Director

Dr. Ken Halpin, the former deputy athletic director at Eastern Washington University in Cheney, Washington, is in his first year as athletic director at Winthrop.

Halpin is responsible for the administration of all aspects of Winthrop’s NCAA Division I athletics program. In his role, he provides strategic leadership and direction for a program that places a priority on academic achievement and athletic excellence.

Over the past five years at EWU Halpin served in multiple roles, most recently as deputy athletic director overseeing a wide range of responsibilities covering all external operations including development, marketing, communications, ticketing, sponsor-

ships, licensing, special projects, and special events. He was also the sport supervisor for the men’s and women’s tennis programs.

Halpin’s first year at EWU was spent as the director of corporate partnerships for their multi-media rights partner, which has since been acquired by Learfield, generating corporate revenue for the EWU Athletic Department.

Halpin received a Ph.D. in higher education administration from Washington State University in 2015 and an M.A. in sport administration from Gonzaga University in 2008, where he has taught as an adjunct professor in the sport management program for the past seven years. He earned a

Winthrop provides five full-time certified athletic trainers along with three graduate assistant trainers who are dedicated to attaining excellence in all aspects of sports medicine.

Led by the veteran head athletic trainer Jeff Lahr, the staff works hard to deliver the highest quality health care to all of its student-athletes.

Lahr, the Assistant Athletic Director for Athletic Training, is in his 22nd year at Winthrop. The full-time staff of assistant athletic trainers includes Daniel Lundy, Seth Faulkner, Martha Dettl, and Kiersten Schmidt. Several students enrolled in the University’s athletic training program are also involved in helping with daily training room and game management duties.

The University athletic training department is teamed up with Dr. William Graham, who serves on staff at Ortho Carolina-Pineville, to provide the best health care for its student-athletes.

All student-athletes receive personal instructions and attention from head strength coach Hayes Galitski and his staff that includes assistant Michael Rhodes, intern Andy Parker and volunteer assistants Charles Barton, John Brantley, and Sidney Rhodes.

Galitski and his staff are responsible for designing and implementing the strength and conditioning programs for all 18 sports teams. They work closely with each individual coaching staff to design a program that is geared for that particular sport.

Winthrop offers a modern and well-equipped strength and conditioning facility in the coliseum as well as the baseball stadium.
