What’s in the Box?

Take a few minutes to familiarize yourself with the contents of your order. Each sensor is identified by a sensor number label. While every FrontPoint system is completely customized, a typical system includes:

Control Panel

The Control Panel is the “brains” of your system. It connects wirelessly with all the sensors in your home and communicates with FrontPoint using a secure cellular connection.

Sensors

Wireless sensors create the protective shield around your home. These may include sensors for doors, windows, motion, glass breakage, environmental conditions, and more.

Accessories and Supplies

From a yard sign to all the extra supplies you may need—window decals, extra adhesive strips, and screws if you decide to mount your panel.

Set up Your Control Panel

The Control Panel is the “brains” of your system. It connects wirelessly with all the sensors in your home and communicates with FrontPoint using a secure cellular connection.

Where to Place • in a central location in your home above ground • on any flat surface such as a countertop, a tabletop, or shelf • in a place where it can plug into an outlet that is NOT controlled by a switch and does not have a “test/reset” button (i.e. a non-ground fault interrupted (GFI) electrical outlet)

Where Not to Place • immediately next to a window (where an intruder would easily see it from outside)

Set up Your Control Panel

Step 1 Connect the Antenna Connect the antenna by screwing it into the hole in the top of the control panel. Note: Hold the antenna at its base to avoid stripping.

Step 2 Activate the Battery Connect the backup battery (located on the backside of the panel) by pushing the red connectors together until the metal part of the plug is completely hidden. Note: Your control panel may beep.

Step 3 Plug in the Power Adapter Plug the power adapter into an outlet that is NOT controlled by a switch.

Special Setup Note Make sure you have plugged the control panel’s power adapter into an outlet that is NOT controlled by a switch and does not have a “test/reset” button (i.e. a non-ground fault interrupted (GFI) electrical outlet). www.frontpointsecurity.com

Plan Locations for Your Sensors

Using this sensor location sheet, list where you will place all of your sensors (e.g. front door, back door, family room, etc.). We recommend taking time to choose sensor locations prior to setup.

Special Setup Notes • Each of your sensors has already been numbered • Make sure to use the lowest numbered sensors for your doors (e.g. front door) • After listing the doors you want protected, list the remaining areas your sensors will be placed (e.g. family room, front hallway, kitchen, etc.) • Refer back to this page after your activation call to customize your sensor names at www.myfrontpoint.com

Transmitter

Magnet

The door/window sensor is a small, wireless device that detects the opening and closing of just about anything. This sensor comes with two pieces: the larger piece (transmitter) and the smaller piece (magnet). When placing the two pieces, find the “arrow” on each and be sure these arrows are as close together as possible (within 3/4 of an inch).

Where to Place • a front or back door • any ground floor door or window • within ~100 feet of the control panel • anything that opens and closes (e.g. medicine or gun cabinet, drawer, etc.)

Setup Tips • Prior to setting up your door/window sensors, turn on the “chime” feature on your control panel (See the Your Control Panel guide to learn about “chimes”). • The adhesives included with your sensors are industrial grade. Make sure each sensor is in the correct location before firmly securing.

Intrusion Sensors: Door Sensor

Step 1 Prep the Surface Locate the appropriate place for your sensor. Make sure the surface is clean and dry.

Transmitter

Magnet

Step 2 Place the Sensor • Place the transmitter on the door frame. If your door frame has decorative molding, it may be easier to place the transmitter on the door itself and the magnet on the door frame instead. Before firmly securing the sensor, make sure it is in the correct position. • Remove the wax backing from the adhesive strip. • Press the sensor firmly in place and hold for about 30 seconds.

Intrusion Sensors: Motion Sensor

The wireless motion sensor detects people moving across a room and can secure larger common areas (e.g. a living room, a basement, etc.).

Where to Place • in a central room or corridor of your home (i.e. hallway, living room) • 4 to 5 feet off the ground • adhered to a flat wall, or corner, or simply on a shelf • within ~100 feet from the control panel

Special Tips for Pet Owners • Do not set up a motion sensor in a room where a pet (over 40lbs.) may have access (e.g. a living room, a bedroom, a kitchen, etc.) • Do not set up a motion sensor that points at (or is near) an elevated surface that a pet may be able to jump onto (e.g. a bed, a couch, etc.) • Multiple small pets that group together may appear larger to a motion sensor and can trigger a false alarm Note: The sensor light turns on only during test mode. To test, remove and replace the back cover. Within 60 seconds, leave the sensor area, then walk across the room. When the light illuminates, the sensor is working properly. After 60 seconds of inactivity, the sensor will return to regular operation.

Step 2 Place the Sensor (Flat Wall)

Attach adhesive to the flat back surface of the motion sensor. 4 adhesive strips should be used for this option.

OR Place the Sensor (Corner Wall) Attach the adhesive to the rear corner surfaces of the motion sensor (marked with removable white stickers). 2 adhesive strips should be used for this option. Press the sensor firmly in place and hold for about 30 seconds.

Intrusion Sensors: Glass Break Sensor

The glass break sensor protects large windows, sliding glass doors, and rooms with multiple windows by detecting the unique sound frequency of breaking glass.

Where to Place • between 4–20 feet of the glass being protected • mounted on a wall or ceiling, or simply resting on a shelf

Where Not to Place • directly on a window or near an air compressor • in a stairwell or room smaller than 100 square feet • in rooms with excessive “white noise” (e.g. smaller rooms with fans, kitchens, garages, etc.) • in rooms with high humidity

Life Safety Sensors: Smoke/Heat Sensor

The smoke and heat sensor uses a photoelectric chamber to detect smoke particles in the air and a temperature sensor to detect a rapid rise in a room’s air temperature.

Where to Place • in a hallway that is centrally located to several bedrooms • if on a ceiling, place in the center of the room at least 4 inches away from the nearest wall • if on a wall, place between 4–12 inches below the ceiling

Where Not to Place • near a ventilation source which may prevent smoke from reaching the sensor • in a damp or very humid area (such as a bathroom with a shower) • in or near kitchens, garages, furnaces/hot water heaters, or space heaters
