IF YOU know much about Fringe Supply Co., you
likely know I keep it small and focused. Owning such a tiny business means wearing a lot of hats on any given day. On photo shoot days, I’m not just the art director and stylist (my favorite jobs), I’m also the “model.” Which is weird for me, but in this case it gave me a chance to show you just how excited I am about our holiday update, as demonstrated on the previous page — so excited that when my photographer-friend Kathy Cadigan suggested it, I frolicked. We add new goods to our lineup quite rarely, by retail norms, and that’s because we only sell things I personally use and believe in. I don’t need a lot, but I do need to love it and to know it will be hard-working and long-wearing, in which case I feel good about placing it into your hands as well. Since last year, the indispensable Porter Bin now comes in black and army green, as well as natural (opposite). The highly coveted Field Bag I designed a few years ago has become the cornerstone of Fringe, and for this winter we’ve made it even better by adding two new waxed-canvas versions — camo and black-watch plaid, my two all-time favorite prints. They are cheeky, rugged and yet somehow also surprisingly elegant. And they look amazing in combination with any of our other Field Bags and Porter Bins, as you’ll see in the following pages. What I’ve always wanted our tight little selection of goods to be, ultimately, is an organizational system. I want you to have the most gorgeous possible tools, and the most thoughtful bags and pouches for keeping everything tidy. To that end, I’ve also been working with the incredibly talented team at Winter Session in Denver to bring you three new pouches that coordinate beautifully with our bags and tool selection: a leather envelope, a canvas zip pouch, and a waxed-canvas roll-up, for whatever best suits your needs.
