Reel Youth, Canada, Station Next -The Next Festival, Denmark, NFFTY National Film Festival for Talented Youth, USA and the British Film Institute, Future Film, UK attending Fresh International Film Festival.

REEL EXCHANGE: SKILL SHARE WITH DR. EMMA FISHER-OWEN

Workshop | Belltable Hub | March 31 | 2pm Dr. Emma Fisher-Owen and Beyond the Bark will lead a session in shadow puppet animation, introducing special techniques for engaging children and young people in animation.

IRELAND’S YOUNG FILMMAKER’S FORUM

Screening / Masterclass / Pitching | Engine Collaboration Center | April 1 | 10am

Join us for the Martini Shot of Fresh International Film Festival 2023 for our Ireland’s Young Filmmaker’s Forum, by and for Ireland’s next generation of filmmakers, on April 1st at the Engine, Limerick. Enjoy a day dedicated to filmmaking and filmmakers with networking, workshops, masterclasses with industry experts culminating in a pitching competition. Supported by the National Youth Film and Animation Network.

Get to know one another with lighting fast Shutter-Speed dating.

10:30am - 12.00pm Pitching

Award-winning screenwriter Sinead Collopy explores the craft of the perfect pitch ahead of The Fresh Pitch.

12:30pm - 2:00pm Cinematography

Sundance-Award Winning Cinematographer, director and producer Michael Lavelle (Patrick’s Day, Cardboard Gangsters, Float Like a Butterfly, Let the Wrong One In) leads a Masterclass in Cinematography, shedding light on how to light a scene, and the best use of camera to tell the story.

2:00pm - 3:30pm Film Direction

Feature film director, and former Fresh Filmmaker of the year Conor McMahon (Let the Wrong One In, Dead Meat, Republic of Telly) leads his directing masterclass, where he demystifies working with actors, staging and blocking scenes. Aspiring actors can take the spotlight here too!

3:30pm - 4:00pm The Fresh Pitch

The annual pitching competition will be determined by a panel of judges. Show your best, wildest ideas, anything from a short film, feature movie or television series. It’s a fun way to share ideas and generate creativity, get helpful, productive feedback and propel you into the next year of filmmaking full of Fresh imagination.

National Youth Film Gathering

Fresh Film is delighted to host guests from the BFI Youth Film Academy (UK), the National Film Festival for Talented Youth (USA), The Next Film Festival (Denmark) Station Next (Denmark) and Reel Youth (Canada) who design and deliver some of the most exciting and interesting programmes in the world. This gathering is designed for learning, networking and sharing competencies . Supported by Limerick City and County Council.

As Ireland’s young people’s film community grows, this gathering offers a chance to share national and international experience and knowledge to enrich our work in film with young people and with young filmmakers.

11:45am -1:00pm Models of practice.

2:00pm - 3:30pm

Break out rotating groups to network and tease out topics.
