New! This fall we are excited to provide a 13 week after school program specifically designed to help your child do better on the SSAT/ISEE test. We will start with an UL SSAT diagnostic assessment that specifically pinpoints the academic strengths and weaknesses of your child in the vocabulary, reading and math sections of the exam. We will then provide specific instruction related to the strengths and weaknesses of the group and the individual, by tailoring the instruction and after course practice to your child’s specific needs and goals. Along the way, we will provide the opportunity to have your child sit for 1-2 practice tests to reinforce the strategies and develop the necessary test taking skills to excel on either exam. YEARBOOK
Language: English
Tap into your ability to creatively communicate what makes our school so special!
Students will take on the authority and responsibility regarding the initial decisions about the direction of the book (theme, color palette, fonts), and then find ways to keep the 144-page book consistent, cohesive, and equitable. You may also contribute to changes as the project progresses through the year. Collaboration is a must. Organization, attention to detail, precision, and strong communication are also necessary.
You will learn about photography, journalism, graphic design, and the software needed to build the book online. You will practice perseverance, flexibility, providing and accepting critiques, and hone your sense of aesthetics, as you complete assignments with or without the assistance of others. Students also need to act professionally in dealing with other community members, from our youngest to the adults.
By joining the Yearbook Club, you will be instrumental in the production of a book that is published and sold, and thus are performing in a real-world way for FASPS. Lastly, this can add to your resumé when applying to high school. Although a serious commitment, we have quite a bit of fun, too. Come and be a part of something big.
12 class sessions: First class September 6, last class December 13th. **No class October 18, November 1, November 22**--This is a YEAR-LONG CLUB. Registration is fall-trimester only, and students must commit to the entire academic year.
