Town of Barker Residents Election Day is Tuesday, November 6, 2018

There will be 3 local propositions on the ballot this year #1- To extend the Term of Office of the Supervisor from 2 years to 4 years. #2- To extend the Term of Office of the Highway Superintendent from 2 years to 4 years. #3- To extend the Term of Office of the Town Clerk from 2 years to 4 years. Reasons we are asking for this change: • It is recommended by County and State Government that these positions have 5-10 year plans. This is impossible to accomplish when we can only project 2 years at a time. Today most Town Offices within Broome County have 4 year terms which gives greater continuity to meet these goals. • The Town Board recognizes that the 3 Offices above come with many responsibilities. The extension would enable us to continue providing you with the current level of response and respect you deserve. • The extension would cost less in potential training and efficiency of service to you. • The extension would continue the smooth flow of interaction between numerous departments of multi-governments, as well as the public.
