Wrong Time Wrong Place

This is one of the better quick reads. You'll read it in one sitting as you won't be able to put it down until you've read the last word.

Wings of Tavea: Solus Series Book Two The Solus series is a must read for anyone who wants to get swept away in a epic fantasy! I can't wait to read the third book! Great job Devri!

Web of Deception Kate has a flourishing career as an architect, a home of her own and she knows Daniel is not right for her. She wants someone who’s reliable, dependable and will always be there. There’s also the small matter of a past business deal of Daniel’s that went bad and affected the people she loves the most. Still, Kate can’t deny the attraction. Nor can she turn down the offer of hanging out at his Sydney apartment and heading to the ski fields for a weekend. Until she finds she is caught up much more deeply than she ever anticipated.

Wide Awake

Absolutely AMAZING!!! Shelly Crane is a brilliantly talented writer and this story was so powerful... It just blew me away!! Front start to finish, I was totally engrossed...I mean, I read the whole book in one sitting. Not saying that is unusual...but, I literally could not put Wide Awake down. I highly recommend this book...

Whip It A fast, fun read. If you enjoyed the movie, you'll love the book the author wrote the screen play and if love the book you'll want to see the movie. With smart dialog and family members that bicker but ultimately come through for each other, Whip It reminds me a little of the movie Juno and of course Ellen Page stars in both.

Well of the Damned I have read the other two previous books in this series and I thought this was a good continuation. I thought the character development was good and the story was a surprise from where I expected the story to go. I highly recommend this series.

Venomous I can tell you this is about Locke and how his demon is his anger, his father's abandonment, his violent temper, his unwanted but needed solitude but you have to read it for yourself. Once you enter Locke's world, you won't leave until you see how he takes charge of his life and his issues and if he wins or loses his fight with Venom. Tragic adolescence isn't a requirement to read this or even enjoy it. Only that you were once a teenager.

Wake (Wake Series, Book 1) This book was a fast read with some great parts. It was a little reminiscent of Meg Cabot's 1-800-WHERE-R-YOU series, only with more substance. It was edgy like a Holly Black book and engaging like Janet Evanovich's Stehpanie Plum series, yet it was totally unique. I'm looking forward to FADE, and can't wait to see what comes after that.

This Curse Lucifer himself forced Grace into making a deal with him to spend time with him on her own terms and keeps trying to bed her. She fights off Lucifer with her powers and tries to save people he savagely tries to kill.

The Troika Dolls This book is addictive and now part of a series by Miranda Darling, all focusing on the unsuspecting heroine Stevie Duveen. The book is back heavily in research yet is a glamourous and dramatic tale of love, risk, courage and selfdiscovery. Amazing read highly recommended!

The Shulim Cycle: Book of Dahlia (Volume 1) Brother got me this as a Christmas present and I was pleasantly surprised at how good it was. I can't wait for number two. Was well written and I really enjoyed it I couldn't put it down. If you like supernatural books this is defiantly one you should read.

The Saddest Song If your looking for a touching love story this is the book for you. It holds you captive from the first paragraph!! You really come away feeling like you know these characters and want to hear more!! You really will love this book!!

The Protectors Series Bundle (A Superhero Romance Anthology) Betrayed Book #1 Cassie Reeser is a bona fide superhero. But what did she have to give up to get that way? Her brother, Peter’s experiments might have saved her life, but now she’s little more than a weapon in his eyes and he’ll use her how he wishes. Before she was a Protector, Cassie was her brother’s personal lab rat. Can she break from his tyrannical rule or will she sacrifice herself to save her friends? Reluctant Protector Book #2 For five years, Cassie Reeser has been her brother’s personal lab rat. Peter’s experiments have made her a stronger, faster, better human. And she’s not the only one. To rescue her friends, she’ll have to depend on former war correspondent, Seth Adams. Cassie might not think she needs his protection, but he’ll die before he lets Peter have her back. Forsaken Protector Book #3 The enemy of her enemy is her friend. Almost one year after escaping Gentech Facilities, Symone Jackson lives in the shadows with her nightmares. Garrett Hunter thought he was one of the good guys, but on routine surveillance of a suspected terrorist, he discovers the awful truth…he’s not the only super human around. Can Symone overcome her mistrust of Garrett and stop living in the shadows?

The Mugger (87th Precinct Series, Book 2) This is only the second McBain book I have read. It is very , very good. I am going to try to find them to read in order. Have a long way to go I know. The Mugger is about Bert Kling, who is a partolman. He is searching for a mugger named Clifford. He is doing this in his off duty time. Then a young girl Kling has met is killed, was it by the mugger or not????? The ending is great is all I will say about that. The book is fairly short, easy to read and will hold you attention. I would recommend it to anyone who likes a good mystery.

The Con Man (87th Precinct) As always, McBain's characters are all three dimensional and compelling, and he manages to explore the emotional and philisophical aspects of crimes, victims of crimes, and their protectors in a way that few ever match. The theme of the The Con is throughout the novel, from the obvious and dangerous to the subtle and benign, and as his opening states and story demonstrates, life itself is a con, and to some degree we are all Con Men.

The Killing Code Loving thriller's and who done its. I decided to read this new offering for an hour then set about some chores. 5 hours later I was still reading.Hard to believe Craig is a first time author. Very well researched and incredibly well written hard to put down once you start.

The Dead of Winter Lee Collins marks himself out with his debut that has an eclectic mix of genres and some pretty terrific prose and characterization to dazzle readers with. I was pleasantly surprised by this book and for those readers who are on the fence about this book, my advice is to get off it as quickly as you can and read this one, as its ingenuity will mark itself out among the year end lists and the minds of readers.

The Circle I would recommend this book to almost anyone because it can be such a thrill-ride and then a love story and then fantasy. But this book is only one out of three and the third has yet to be released, so if you read this book you absolutely must read the second one too.

The Assault (Recon Team Angel #1) This is essentially a war story. We don't really learn very much about the aliens who have invaded the Earth. While they talk about how our team has to learn the culture and language of the aliens, the actual aliens don't act much different that any human soldier would. Their "alien-ness" is conveyed by their physical appearance which includes a differently shaped skull, different skin tones, and different things they like to eat. They are supposed to have DNA that is 99% the same as human DNA.

Tethered Tethered is a well-crafted story that will leave you thinking, "That could be happening right here in my city." Nothing is as it seems, and you meet a compassionate and remarkable heroine in the strangest place - the embalming room of a funeral home.

Song of Dragons: The Complete Trilogy Song of Dragons, an epic fantasy trilogy, tells the story of Requiem a fallen, ancient land whose people could become dragons... and whose last survivors dream of flying again. With over 100,000 copies sold, the Song of Dragons novels have captivated readers around the world. Now you can read the entire trilogy in one collection.

Soul Bonded This was a great book, couldn't put it down! Plot was good, lots of action, romance and steamy sex bits. Look forward to the next book.

Simmer (Midnight Fire Series) Diana, a vampire, is looking to destroy Kira, but Kira has a very strong power that could make her the conqueror. It is an exciting encounter when the two of them finally get together. Only Diana can tell her where her mother is and Kira has to get it out of her, before she destroys her. This paranormal romance proves to be a page-turning journey. Join Kira on her quest to find her mother and her true love.

Silenced by Syrah (A Wine Lover's Mystery) This is a fun book. It's not *quite* as fun as the others, but they were outstanding and this is "only" good. I took Silenced by Syrah with me on a cross-country plane trip, and at no time did I feel that reading the airline magazine would be a better use of my time. If you liked earlier books in the series, you'll like this fine, though you might grab another one off the Summer Reading Pile first. If you haven't read earlier books... well, this is okay, but you really should start with the earlier books just to gain from the character development.

She Returns from War While the plot was less intricate this time around and beyond the exploration of Navajo supernatural traditions there wasn't a huge amount of expanded world building, She Returns From War packs a more powerful emotional punch than The Dead of Winter did. Collins has avoided the sophomore slump and has completed this duology with a welldelivered finale. If you enjoyed The Dead of Winter, reading its sequel is a must, but even if unfamiliar with Collins' debut novel, She Returns From War is a strong and gripping story. I look forward to discovering where Collins will go next, whether he returns to this universe or introduces us to a new one it's bound to be interesting.

Sharp Objects If judged purely by the intensity of its suspense and page-turning quotient, "Sharp Objects" would easily merit five stars. Flynn taps into the psychological horror generated by a twisted family in a way that electrifies the narrative, reminding me of Dean Koontz in that regard. I had trouble, though, accepting the unlikely logistics behind the crimes and found certain characters to be so over-the-top as to strain credibility. These quibbles aside, Gillian Flynn already has mastered a fast-paced and hard-boiled writing style that's perfectly suited for the suspense genre, and she has created a fascinating heroine who could form the centerpiece for a winning series.

Shadowbridge The story moves along at a magical pace and yet Frost never forgets that he's telling us about real people with genuine emotions. He's created a powerful new character with Leodora, a shadow-puppeteer -and he paints her so well that this book BEGS for a biscreen adaptation. But even if they do make this info a flick, make sure you read the book. Frost has a sorcerer's touch when it comes to description and imagery.

Rod: The Autobiography The book is full of good behind-the-scenes stories that tell of bands, songs and relationships. We learn of Stewart's humble origins, his unsteady progress as a singer and harmonica player (he notes wryly that he was playing the latter badly for a year before someone pointed out that you could actually play the instrument by sucking as well as blowing

into it), and the ups and downs of various bands and albums before fame and commercial success finally sunk their hooks into him for good.

Scary Creek I really enjoyed this book. Easy, entertaining read. Unexpected ending. Would love more of the same type of story from this author's!

Prince William: The Man Who Will Be King William always gravitated towards normal well-grounded people and families and that Kate Middleton helps meet that need. Being a child of parents who worked and made their fortune, she doesn't have the elitist accent and grew up in fairly normal family. It's William desire and strive toward normalcy, and clearly having learned from the mistakes of both his parents, that has made him the likeable figure he is today.

Reason to Breathe: The Breathing Series (Volume 1) She set this book up perfectly to go into a sequel. It ends on a cliff hanger. I absolutely loved this book. I hope the books go on for eternity. It makes you hate and it makes you cheer. It makes you love and it makes you feel heartbreak. This book also makes you think about Emma's situation. This happens everyday somewhere. I cringed every time Emma had to go home just because I was afraid Carol might be around. Please people, give this book a chance and look out for the sequal for which I will be waiting with baited breath.

Protocol 7 (Part One of the Arctica Trilogy) I have always been a big fan of mystery thrillers and I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book from start to finish. What stood out for me most, is the way Gharabegian brings great imagery and visualization to your mind in this book as the characters and story unfold across the continents of the world. You can tell this sic-fi trilogy adventure is a passion of his, he didn't just write a book here, he has found a way to project it onto the screen of any readers mind and imagination.

Pretty Girl-13

Liz developed a story that not only touched my heart but made me want to learn more about the subjects she brought forth. I for one have never experienced such an ordeal and cannot begin to imagine or understand what this girl (or anyone) had gone through, but while I read I felt as if I was living out every scene in every graphic detail.

Paper Towns The book is just overflowing with ideas, literary references, deep understanding of the way senior year in high school feels, and most importantly insight into the way people perceive things. What I love most about Green's writing is that he never has the characters settle on these big, life-changing revelations. When Quentin discovers something vital about understanding life, his finds are often refuted by a new realization, that is later refuted itself. It's a very "in the moment" novel, written about a boy in love with a very "in the moment" girl.

Pandemonium Pandemonium blends speculative science with action and adventure that will have you frantically turning pages until its over. Pandemonium could be read as a standalone novel, though I highly recommend you read Fragment first. While the novel comes to a satisfying conclusion, I can only hope that Warren Fahy has many other worlds to create and explore with the cast of characters he has developed.

Night Moves (Doc Ford) Unlike many Doc Ford books, this one doesn't have the truly nasty villain, but it does have some bad guys and other interesting characters. I could praise the plot and the writing, but this is par for the course with White. If you're a fan of the Doc Ford series (or even a fan of its literary predecessor, John MacDonald's Travis McGee series), Night Moves is a must-read.

On the Edge of Humanity (A Vampire SEAL Novel) (Volume 1) Just finished this book. I thought it was a good read. I liked that it wasn't your typical bite the neck your a vampire theme. I look forward to the next book to see how the story continues to develop.

Lord Tophet: A Shadowbridge Novel I liked this book because the writing is clean and crisp. The story is also original and always interesting. I felt like the ending left me hanging, but maybe that's a good thing for this book. The entire series is worth reading. Don't read this before reading Shadowbridge first though, it's not a standalone book.

Light in the Shadows (Find You in the Dark #2) This is an amazing and beautiful story of Love, devotion, Angst, strength and the ability to heal. I couldn't wait for this book to become available and I am glad to say "It didn't disappoint" I would highly recommend Find you in the Dark, and Light in the shadows. Actually I've enjoyed all her books.

In Your Dreams What to say? It was amazing. I read it every chance I could slip away from reality. My favorite part of the book would definitely be when Kirean got to talk to his biological dad and hear the story face to face. Its closure for Kieran. My least favorite would be when Zip goes all hysterical when she thinks shes dreaming the future too. It just made me feel like she was gullible. I did like the way it was written and it was original. Or at least I havent read anything on the same line as this.

Hot Blooded (Wolf Springs Chronicles) (Volume 2) Can't wait til the next book, I read it in one day, such a easy read. Could not put it down, loved it!!!!!!!

Her Highness, the Traitor Along with historical accuracy, a swift-moving plot and little family details that any mother would remember and treasure, such as Lady Dudley's talking parrot and Lady Grey's dismay at her daughter's surprising lack of common sense, the novel includes characterizations at which this author excels. She takes the infamous villains of history and presents them as relatable human characters.

Her Knight's Quest: A Warriors of the Mist Novel The author has a villain that readers will love to hate. But what makes this book stand out is that while it has romance the author gives a real feel for the world she had created. I often felt I could be reading a straight fantasy novel.

Henry & Sarah

In 1886 Henry Abbott starts working as a tutor to Sarah, the daughter of Lord and Lady Partridge. Soon, the relationship between teacher and student changes into a sweet and passionate love affair, which, however, has to remain a secret because Sarah is promised to marry somebody else. But Henry doesn`t give up and tries hard to convince Sarah to step out of the traditions and pathways laid out by generations. When, however, Damian Cox, Sarah`s husband-to-be, finally finds out about his rival, a battle of life and death begins...

Heart of Glass It is 1585 in Venice, and three months have passed since Laura della Scala solved her sister's murder after joining the Segreta, a powerful society of women who trade protection for secrets. Now Laura is engaged to her true love, Roberto, and she has never been happier. But the night Laura is sent on her first important mission for the Segreta, Roberto is found with the body of a dead woman in his room. Halim, an irresistibly handsome Turkish prince on a diplomatic visit to the city, identifies the woman as his sister and insists that Roberto be executed for her murder, or the Ottoman Empire will attack Venice. Laura is desperate to save both her city and her fiance. But as the evidence against Roberto builds and Laura finds herself increasingly drawn to Halim, she begins to wonder whether everything Roberto told her was a lie. What Laura discovers is a conspiracy that involves nearly everyone she knows.

Gray This book was absolutely amazing, I did not know what to expect because I had read some of Pete's other work and it was never in full out novel form. I literally couldn't put the book down and finished it in one night, at 4am. I kind of wish he had just called it an autobiography and been more specific for the characters. I have basically figured out that most of the characters are real people with different names. I like this because it is more realistic, I just wish I knew exactly what was real and what was fictional. I recommend that you get it, it is definitely one of my favorites of all time.

Gone Girl Did he murder his beloved wife? Nick knows he didn't but all signs point to that conclusion. The police believe he is responsible for her absence. Her parents, who stand by him in the beginning, arrive at the same belief. The public and the media are likewise convinced. He wonders if even his twin sister believes it as well. Before the reader discovers the truth, the reader becomes wrapped up in endless detail. This is a thriller that does keep one turning the pages but it roars to a pallid conclusion. I liked it but thought that someone should have spent more time editing as details are presented again and again. I know many others will like this read but I was disappointed.

Gone (Wake) Things get even more complicated when she meets her father for the very first time and he’s in a coma. As Janie uncovers his secret past, she begins to realize that the choice thought she had has more dire consequences than she ever imagined.

Fade (Wake Series, Book 2) FADE isn't even a little bit like that. It is harder, darker, faster, rougher. The subject matter is shocking and doesn't make the reading fun at all...not that that's necessarily a bad thing, but it is so uncomfortable to read sometimes that it

really sucks the dreaminess out of the book entirely. It is hard to fall in love with Cabel and Janie's wonderful romance while having to face the twisted, sick sexual predators Janie is helping the police track down at her school.

Extensis Vitae I really enjoyed this book! It definitely has the feel of some classic post-apocalyptic stories like Mad Max or the Terminator series. The action sequences are great and there's a good flow to the fights they felt very brutal, but still realistic (Reznik outnumbered by a brutal gang of killers was particularly intense and really pulled me into the action). Another real stand-out is the futuristic technology which feels like the natural next step for some current technology. The "body-armor" was a really cool idea and I can't wait to see where the author goes next with it! In short, I would highly recommend this book to action and sci-fi fans looking for a smart, solid book with plenty of awesome high-tech ideas and pulse-pounding action.

Eternity When Kaitlin discovers her husband has been having an affair her world crashes down around her. To escape her turmoil she travels to Mexico only to find herself stumbling into the arms of the man of her dreams, much to her husbands disgust But she soon discovers that when things seem too good to be true, they often are.

Edda Still, it's very well-written and an enjoyable, fast read. I admittedly ended up putting off some other books I was reading when I got this because I couldn't put this one down. I think it's focused more toward YA, but it's one of those YA books that adults can enjoy reading as well.

Eleven A story about a radio DJ, who keeps himself to himself, and loves Scrabble... I also work on the Radio, keep myself to myself and love Scrabble & word games... So I thought this would be pretty well suited... I saw a lot of similarities, and really enjoyed the story, it seemed a bit strange initially that it kept jumping from scene to scene with different characters, but it all came together...

Earthfall Captain Mike Andrews and his crew set out across a Giger-inspired landscape blighted by lightning storms and deadly hazards that could swallow their all-terrain vehicles whole. The last thing Andrews expects to encounter in the nuked ruins of San Jose are survivors led by a twisted freak with mental powers off the scale... Harmony is America’s last chance to rise up from the ashes of the nuclear holocaust and help restore civilization. But only if Andrews and his crew can escape San Jose‌and the madman who calls himself The Law.

Dictator I really enjoy this series by Tom Cain. This is a book you won't want to put down. Love the main character Samuel Carver. You will not be disappointed with this purchase.

Defect Ms. Kerekes has written a novel with a strong heroine, a swoony hero, villains you want to bitch slap and/or kill, and a truly well thought out society headed up by a corrupt government. I loved Defect and was on the edge of my seat for a good portion of the book. Keep your eye out for this author peeps! She will not disappoint!

Dark Places

This is not a novel to be read easily on a beach or vacation. You need to be open to giving all aspects of this story a lot of thought and you need to realize that there are no "warm fuzzies" anywhere within this novel, even when the mysteries are solved. If you go into it with that knowledge, then I think you'll enjoy your read much more than I did. I'm afraid I picked up this book thinking it was just like any other mystery, but it's so much more than that.

Chance of a Ghost Alison Kerby, the main character, and owner of the Guesthouse, has a great sense of humor, irony, and relationships. I was pleased by her character evolvement. Alison is also a Mother, but recognizes being a daughter as well. Alison's Mother is a joy also. We get to understand her a bit better in this book and I enjoyed the meeting. Daughter, Melissa, is a wonderful girl. She is smart, humorous, accepting of her families ability to view, speak, and interact with departed spirits. Melissa handles most situations with a maturity that I do not know if I, personally, would manage.

Burn With Me (Legend of the Sun Whisperers) I had the pleasure of critiquing this one and it is Christle's BEST!!! I recommend getting it if you like futuristic sci-fi stuff. Heck, I'm not even a major fan or this genre but I loved it! I want a sequel! I warn you, you might shed a tear or two, but by the end, you will be happy you read this!

And What of Earth? This is a very good introduction to what promises to be an excellent series of stories based on our protagonist, Jennifer Hodges, and the alien race that lands, quite literally, in her back yard. The story starts rather slowly, but builds momentum as Jennifer's predicament unfolds.

A Vintage Murder (Wine Lover's Mysteries, No 4) The murderer was an interesting surprise, and Simon's appearance on the scene was entertaining, as were the pop culture references. Readers of the series will still enjoy this book, but I am looking forward to the story and character returning to work in Napa.

A Toast to Murder (A Wine Lover's Mystery) If you love cozy mysteries, I would recommond these books. You don't have to be a wine-drinker in order to love these books. I am not a wine-drinker. The most these recipes have made me crave is sparkling bubbly grape juice or apple juice. And oh, I did not mention the recipes. They sound exotic.

A Night of Dragon Wings: Dragonlore, Book 3 The story line of the Dragonlore series and the Song of Dragons Series is so wonderful. These books are right up there with some of the best fantasy novels I have ever read.

A Day of Dragon Blood: Dragonlore, Book 2 Totally hooked from the second I picked the book up. If you have book one then this is a must buy,it picks up a year after the phoenix war with the vir requim rebuilding their city. All I can say is you will loose yourself in the story.

A Dawn of Dragonfire: Dragonlore, Book 1 The writing style from the first books was present and the story sucked me in once again. Every time I read each of the Requiem books I felt like the kid in the Never Ending Story. It felt like I was there and I could let loose my imagination. I love the book and if you have read the the first three and liked them, you should just go ahead and buy this one. It will not disappoint!

'Til Death (87th Precinct) This is one of my favorites of the 87th precinct. McBain changes his usual venue and direction a bit in this one. We get to see Carella's loving relationship with his family. With his sister's wedding and his wife's pregnancy, Steve's got lots of family concerns to worry about. That doesn't mean "Til Death" in anyway lacks suspense. The pleasantries of a big Italian wedding continue in the backgroud while Carella must play cat and mouse with a killer.

With This Kiss: Part Three Lieutenant Colin Barry returns from the wars injured in body and spirit, knowing that he has no right to steal Grace from the arms of her fiance. Yet the same warrior's spirit that won so many battles at sea is prompting him to throw propriety to the winds, imitate his pirate father, and simply take what he most desires!

Where Bluebirds Fly A blend of science and compassion, I came to really care for these characters and their plight. There's also rich connections to other literary masterpieces, which added to the enjoyment of the book. I found the story gripping, and I rooted for this couple to find their happily-ever-after. I loved that the ending opens the door for future books, and that the misfits come to understand themselves and their world a bit more.

They Walk Maggie Cooper was living the quiet life in a small town, in Maine. That is until she goes to a party that will change her life forever. Maggie's relationship with her boyfriend Matt will be tested to the toughest degree as her friend Gabe finally comes around to liking her at the worst possible time. The dead loom in all directions, but they might not be the only threat. Some journeys should be done alone, and soon the group will find out how mortal they all really are.

The Serial Garden Joan Aiken is best known for The Wolves of Willoughby Chase, one of my favorite books as a child (and as an adult). But if you want to find out how to handle two druids fighting in your backyard over a bathmat woven of beard hair, you really should read The Serial Garden.

The Shadow Cats: A Girl of Fire and Thorns Story I loved Girl of Fire and Thorns and this is a great Prequel. It adds some nice back story and further explains the relationship and tension between the two sisters Elisa and Alodia. You even get a glimpse at why Alodia starts to value her sister. There are some hints at Alodia's past and the promise of more of the two sisters working together. This was a nice little nugget with adventure and action packed in. I can't wait for the next installment!

The Scorpions of Zahir Overall, I loved this book and I will recommend it to anyone who would like to read about realistic characters in a (semi)realistic situations. Yes, The Scorpions of Zahir has several fantasy elements, but I don't think they were the focus of this book. Instead, the fantasy took a back step, while the children and their actions took the front stage.

The Pastor's Heart I really enjoyed reading The Pastor's Heart. The author touched on a very serious issue in our society today, and that is children who age out of foster care. Not only does the book touch on social issues, but also men and women relationships in a down to earth manner without being vulgar. Kingston who is the Pastor, is educated, romantic, funny, and very sexy. I must say that The Pastor's Heart captured my heart, and according to the author, there is more to come. I can't want to read the next series. I highly recommend this ebook.

The Emperor of All Things This book dances on the line of reality and imagination with a dexterity that is akin to our own minds. The unknown is interwoven with our known world such that the one flows into the other. I am eagerly awaiting the sequel!

The Distant Hours The story's movement between the past and the present is smooth and beautifully done.As each chapter unfolds, we get to know more about the past. Slowly, we are able to piece together the parts to form a complete picture. As secret after secret unravels, years of secrets, betrayal, heartbreaks, tragedies, will shock you. This dark and haunting story will unnerve you and yet won't fail to touch you.

The Emerald Key Unaware that Jonathon Wilkes, a ruthless treasure hunter is also on the trail, Jamie must find Ryan first, before Wilkes, in his desperation to find the elusive treasure, resorts to murder. Jamie, followed by Wilkes, must race across an ocean and throughout Canada to see who will be the one to claim the Emerald Key.

The Death-Defying Pepper Roux If adult books can get away with this kind of storyline I don't see why why this childrens' story can't although because of the young age of the hero the situations are doubly preposterous. An innocent Sommersby section when the hero is 14 might be a step too far for some though. It's a clever book about fate, identity and peoples habit of never questioning what perhaps should be questioned.

Of Shadow Born One thing I liked most about this book was the pacing. The cliffhanger from the last book gets addressed and resolved. It could have stretched through the whole book but thankfully doesn't. The story advances, wrapping up old plot threads and establishing more. I hope we don't have to wait as long for the next book.

Let the Dead Sleep This is fast-paced with lots of suspense and mystery. In my opinion it was a very good book but others may not like the paranormal angle. But, we all have our own opinions. I hope you enjoy it as much as I did.

Stuck With You Paige Hart is a Southerner after my own heart! She is a lawyer in Macon, Georgia with a large family who love her a lot, but they make all kinds of crazy demands on her. So she's always in a fix, because she always helps them out. Even though she studied tax law, her family doesn't care, they ask her to help them with everything from divorce to shoplifting. Ross Bennett is a decent guy, too. He doesn't have a big family, but he does a lot of charity work in the community, and he's a very good attorney who never takes sleazebags for clients.

Memoria. A Corporation of Lies (An Action-Packed Techno-Thriller) A big plan called the Vaccination is in the offing and Memoria is offering it free of charge as an introductory incentive. But what is it really? And how is a United States Congressman, who is also a board member of Memoria involved? What will Frank Shelby do to clear himself of trumped up charges? Is there anything he can do in the face of an organization that can erase the memories of witnesses and bend reality to suit its own purpose?

Deadly Sting (Elemental Assassin) Urban Fantasy readers, I highly recommend reading this series. I do recommend reading the series in order, especially at this point. I think it's important to know what happened for Gin and her loved ones, the events that shape her and her world, to fully appreciate the story.

Kiss of Temptation: A Deadly Angels Book Kiss of Temptation is a great book. It is one of Sandra Hills best books and I have loved everyone of them. My friends and I swap the books when they are available. I did get this one on my Kindle app for my phone but it was great and my friend is wanting to get one also.

Killing Plato The plot unfolds very nicely, revealing just who Plato Karsarkis is, what he has done and not done, and why he is a very real threat to many powerful people. As with the other Jake Needham novels I have read, clever dialogue is one of the best features of Killing Plato.

Is He Or Isn't He? IS HE OR ISN'T HE? is a fun read, although predictable from the first couple of chapters it will be pretty obvious how it's all going to turn out. It's still fun, though, and Paige and Anthony's schemes had me laughing out loud at points. The characters themselves, however, are a little flat. But if you're looking for a few hours of entertainment, you'll definitely enjoy this book!

Ignorance The portrait of this town is haunting and lovely in its forbidding facade. The small word pictures of scenes and people are replete in their literacy. The fog of ignorance: enforced, painful, self serving, imprisoning is ever present. The borders of what must not be known keep the citizens of the town to face very often, "How did this happen?" The people are so clearly portrayed, I could pick them out if I were to walk past. I think this is a stunningly beautiful book which I recommend highly to you.

Hellhole Awakening There were a lot of great moments in the book, but I don't want to spoil them. In short, there's drama, action and a whole lot of fun. If you haven't started reading the series yet, Hellhole Awakening may be the tipping point in your favor. It packs in space battles, assassinations, alien mysticism, moral character conflicts, dark humor and galactic strife all in one tight, interwoven tale. If you like sci-fi driven by colorful characters and a smart plot, then this may be just the book you're looking for. I give Hellhole Awakening a five out of five.

Heft The fact that he weights somewhere between 500-600 pounds is just the beginning of Arthur's confession. He states, "In my letters to you these past two decades I have been untruthful by omission." He admits that not only has he not taught in years, but that he hasn't left his house in over a decade. He ends the lengthy missive, "In spite of everything, at heart I am still the same Arthur.

Buried Of all the things I liked about this book, one of my favorites is how everything finally comes together. The ending was not too abrupt, as I find some mysteries to be. This author tied up all the loose ends, and then a full chapter was spent on closure. This was a very satisfying read, and I really hope to read more about one particular character in this story in a future book!

Black Feathers The overall pacing of the book is kinda slow, but not in a bad way. It's just how it's meant to be. During the second half of the book, things start picking up quite a bit when Megan has to go through some trials and The Crowmans powers and mission start coming forth.

Blood Men: A Thriller One thing I not enjoyed much (but the same thing can be said for Cemetery Lake) is that Cleave sometimes go in the 'too much' so not really believable , but anyway I loved his novel , I kept reading and reading and in the end I just wanted to read it again for comprehend it again better Excellent Paul Cleave , now I am impatient to see again Theo Tate in his next novel !

A Problem of Proportion I'm already a Scalzi fan, but this part of The Human Division, to paraphrase spinal tap, just wound his story up to 17.

13 Drops of Blood I've read a few of Daley's books, and really enjoyed them, and Thirteen Drops of Blood continues his winning streak of articulately disturbing horror. Each story is a creepy little cameo a nasty slice of life that's described with so much

eerie detail that they left me with a feeling of "yeah, it could happen" that made my skin crawl. I highly recommend this collection of fast, freaky stories.

Traditional New Orleans Jazz ISBN: 0807137790 | 2011 | MOBI | 256 pages | 2 MB About a century after its beginnings, traditional jazz remains the definitive music of New Orleans and an international hallmark of the city. The enduring sound and boundless energy of this American art form have produced a long list of jazz legends. From Lionel Ferbos--the city's oldest working jazz musician--to Grammy winner Irvin Mayfield, the musical heritage of traditional jazz lives on through each player's passion. In Traditional New Orleans Jazz, veteran jazz journalist Thomas Jacobsen discusses that legacy with Ferbos, Mayfield, and a who's who of the present-day scene's ''trad jazz'' players. Through intimate conversations with jazz veterans and up-and-coming talent, Jacobsen elicits honest, witty, and sometimes comedic discussions that reveal a strong mutual devotion to do one thing--compose and play music inspired by the Crescent City's earliest jazz musicians. Traditional New Orleans Jazz presents local perspectives on what has become an international language with interviews from Lucien Barbarin, Evan Christopher, Duke Heitger, Leroy Jones, Dr. Michael White, and many more.

Chia Seed Cookbook: Eat Well, Feel Great, Lose Weight ISBN: 162087427X | 2013 | MOBI | 224 pages | 16 MB Discover the amazing seeds that will transform your cooking and your health! You may have heard of chia plants (or at least Chia Pets), but do you know just how good the plant’s tiny seeds are for you, and how versatile they are? The chia plant is a relative of the mint plant. It makes tiny, flavorless, gluten-free seeds that are chock full of antioxidants and fiber, and when combined with water, they can be used as a replacement for butter or oil in your favorite baked goods. In addition, the seeds contain an oil that naturally repels pests, making it easy for farmers to grow the seeds organically, without the use of pesticides. If that’s not enough to convince you to try them, consider that chia seeds help balance blood sugar, prevent diseases such as diverticulitis and diverticulosis, and contain the essential fatty acid omega-3, which lowers hypertension and benefits your heart. It’s surprisingly easy to cook and bake with chia seeds, and because they take on the flavor of whatever ingredients they’re mixed with, they’ll only enhance your favorite dishes. Here’s a sampling of the nearly 100 recipes included: Sunny Sweet Potato and Chocolate Chip Chia Muffins Easy Chia Oat Squares Peanut Butter Chia Waffles Lemon Chia Cheesecake Pancakes Cranberry Chia Couscous Southwest Chia Bean Burgers Citrus Scallops and Veggie Stir Fry Fresh Chia Lime Soup Chia Triple Fruit Crisp Gluten-Free Peanut Butter Cookies Sophisticated Chocolate Orange Cake Oh-So-Lemon Cupcakes Chia Lemon Hummus 80 color photographs

Ambush Alley: The Most Extraordinary Battle of the Iraq War ISBN: 0891418806 | 2005 | EPUB/MOBI | 320 pages | 1 MB/2 MB March 23, 2003: U.S. Marines from the Task Force Tarawa are caught up in one of the most unexpected battles of the Iraq War. What started off as a routine maneuver to secure two key bridges in the town of Nasiriyah in southern Iraq degenerated into a nightmarish twenty-four-hour urban clash in which eighteen young Marines lost their lives and more than thirty-five others were wounded. It was the single heaviest loss suffered by the U.S. military during the initial combat phase of the war. On that fateful day, Marines came across the burned-out remains of a U.S. Army convoy that had been ambushed by Saddam Hussein’s forces outside Nasiriyah. In an attempt to rescue the missing soldiers and seize the bridges before the Iraqis could destroy them, the Marines decided to advance their attack on the city by twenty-four hours. What happened next is a gripping and gruesome tale of military blunders, tragedy, and heroism. Huge M1 tanks leading the attack were rendered ineffective when they became mired in an open sewer. Then a company of Marines took a wrong turn and ended up on a deadly stretch of road where their armored personal carriers were hit by devastating rocket-propelled grenade fire. USAF planes called in for fire support play their own part in the unfolding cataclysm when they accidentally strafed the vehicles. The attempt to rescue the dead and dying stranded in “ambush alley” only drew more Marines into the slaughter. This was not a battle of modern technology, but a brutal close-quarter urban knife fight that tested the Marines’ resolve and training to the limit. At the heart of the drama were the fifty or so young Marines, most of whom had never been to war, who were embroiled in a battle of epic proportions from which neither their commanders nor the technological might of the U.S. military could save them.

With a novelist’s gift for pace and tension, Tim Pritchard brilliantly captures the chaos, panic, and courage of the fight for Nasiriyah, bringing back in full force the day that a perfunctory task turned into a battle for survival. "Ambush Alley" is a gut-wrenching account of unadulterated terror that's hard to read yet impossible to put down. London-based journalist and filmmaker Tim Pritchard, who was embedded with US troops during the initial stages of the American-led invasion of Iraq, paints a compelling picture of one of the costliest battles of the Iraq war that will at turns anger, horrify, and sadden, regardless of one's political views." --The Boston Globe

The Graves Are Walking: The Great Famine and the Saga of the Irish People ISBN: 080509184X | 2012 | EPUB | 416 pages | 1 MB A magisterial account of the worst disasters to strike humankind—the Great Irish Potato Famine—conveyed as lyrical narrative history from the acclaimed author of The Great Mortality Deeply researched, compelling in its details, and startling in its conclusions about the appalling decisions behind a tragedy of epic proportions, John Kelly’s retelling of the awful story of Ireland’s great hunger will resonate today as history that speaks to our own times. It started in 1845 and before it was over more than one million men, women, and children would die and another two million would flee the country. Measured in terms of mortality, the Great Irish Potato Famine was the worst disasters in the nineteenth century—it claimed twice as many lives as the American Civil War. A perfect storm of bacterial infection, political greed, and religious intolerance sparked this catastrophe. But even more extraordinary than its scope were its political underpinnings, and The Graves Are Walking provides fresh material and analysis on the role that Britain’s nation-building policies played in exacerbating the devastation by attempting to use the famine to reshape Irish society and character. Religious dogma, anti-relief sentiment, and racial and political ideology combined to result in an almost inconceivable disaster of human suffering. This is ultimately a story of triumph over perceived destiny: for fifty million Americans of Irish heritage, the saga of a broken people fleeing crushing starvation and remaking themselves in a new land is an inspiring story of revival. Based on extensive research and written with novelistic flair, The Graves Are Walking draws a portrait that is both intimate and panoramic, that captures the drama of individual lives caught up in an unimaginable tragedy, while imparting a new understanding of the famine's causes and consequences.

My Empire of Dirt: How One Man Turned His Big-City Backyard into a Farm ISBN: 1416585168 | 2010 | EPUB/MOBI | 288 pages | 1 MB/1 MB For seven months, Manny Howard—a lifelong urbanite—woke up every morning and ventured into his eight-hundredsquare-foot backyard to maintain the first farm in Flatbush, Brooklyn, in generations. His goal was simple: to subsist on what he could produce on this farm, and only this farm, for at least a month. The project came at a time in Manny’s life when he most needed it—even if his family, and especially his wife, seemingly did not. But a farmer’s life, he discovered—after a string of catastrophes, including a tornado, countless animal deaths (natural, accidental, and inflicted), and even a severed finger—is not an easy one. And it can be just as hard on those he shares it with. Manny’s James Beard Foundation Award–winning New York magazine cover story—the impetus for this project— began as an assessment of the locavore movement. We now think more about what we eat than ever before, buying organic for our health and local for the environment, often making those decisions into political statements in the process. My Empire of Dirt is a ground-level examination—trenchant, touching, and outrageous—of the cultural reflex to control one of the most elemental aspects of our lives: feeding ourselves. Unlike most foodies with a farm fetish, Manny didn’t put on overalls with much of a philosophy in mind, save a healthy dose of skepticism about some of the more doctrinaire tendencies of locavores. He did not set out to grow all of his own food because he thought it was the right thing to do or because he thought the rest of us should do the same. Rather, he did it because he was just crazy enough to want to find out how hard it would actually be to take on a challenge based on a radical interpretation of a trendy (if well-meaning) idea and see if he could rise to the occasion. A chronicle of the experiment that took slow-food to the extreme, My Empire of Dirt tells the story of one man’s struggle against environmental, familial, and agricultural chaos, and in the process asks us to consider what it really takes (and what it really means) to produce our own food. It’s one thing to know the farmer, it turns out—it’s another thing entirely to be the farmer. For most of us, farming is about food. For the farmer, and his family, it’s about work.

The Ancient Alien Question: A New Inquiry Into the Existence, Evidence, and Influence of Ancient Visitors ISBN: 1601631987 | 2011 | EPUB/MOBI | 320 pages | 1 MB/1 MB "…an important and outstanding contribution." --Erich von Daniken, best-selling author of Twilight of the Gods "The Ancient Alien Question provides a captivating adventure around the world and sheds an interesting perspective on the Ancient Astronaut Theory. It raises questions that culminate in well-thought-out, and sometimes downright startling, conclusions. A must-read for anyone who wants to expand their knowledge horizon in this kick-ass field." --Giorgio A. Tsoukalos, author, Gods or Ancient Aliens? producer, Ancient Aliens: The Series "In The Ancient Alien Question Coppens breaks the intellectual sound barrier and offers his readers a well-researched and well-written book that challenges this last taboo of the human adventure. Definitely a not-to-be-missed book!" --Robert Bauval, author of The Orion Mystery "Philip Coppens covers all the bases on this controversial topic. His research is thorough and he addresses each topic with a balanced overview that cuts through the jungle of confusion with a very sharp machete of reason." --David Hatcher Childress, author of Technology of the Gods Have we been visited by extraterrestrial beings? Did these "ancient aliens" contribute to the birth of human civilization? Do our ancient monuments contain evidence of their presence? The Ancient Alien Question reveals an array of astonishing truths, including: A radically different understanding of the pyramids and how they were constructed The origins of crystal skulls and how they were found The extraordinary stories behind monuments such as the Nazca lines and Puma Punku, and who built them How extraterrestrials came to our planet and the evidence that supports this Analyzing the historical and archaeological evidence, Philip Coppens demonstrates that there is substantial proof that our ancestors were far more technologically advanced than currently accepted, and that certain cultures interacted with non-human intelligences. Our ancestors were clearly not alone. Forty years after Erich von Daniken posed these questions in Chariots of the Gods, Coppens provides clear and concise answers to the great historical enigmas in a most accessible and readable format. Your view of human history will never be the same again!

Chechen Jihad: Al Qaeda's Training Ground and the Next Wave of Terror ISBN: 0060841702 | 2007 | EPUB/MOBI | 464 pages | 822 KB/806 KB Yossef Bodansky is one of the most respected-and best-informed-experts on radical Islamism in the world today. In "Chechen Jihad", Bodansky draws on previously unseen intelligence from his insider sources, to offer the most comprehensive-and startling-portrait of the Chechenization phenomenon and what it means for the war on terror. As he reveals, the final years of US-Soviet relations left Chechnya as a fertile breeding ground for the mujahadin, and in the past decade a combination of militant native Chechen anti-Americans, anti-Russian agitators, and Middle Eastern jihadis have joined forces to help al Qaeda and the greater Islamist movement pursue its war against the west.As Bodansky points out, "the Chechens are professional fighters- disciplined and responsible, with a combination of skills, expertise, and character that has made them the most sought-after 'force multipliers' in the movement." Authoritative in its detail, chilling in its implications, "Chechen Jihad" is a book no one with an interest in the future of the West should miss.

God's Secret Agents: Queen Elizabeth's Forbidden Priests and the Hatching of the Gunpowder Plot ISBN: 0007156375, 0060542284 | 2005 | EPUB/MOBI | 400 pages | 2 MB/839 KB

One evening in 1588, just weeks after the defeat of the Spanish Armada, two young men landed in secret on a beach in Norfolk, England. They were Jesuit priests, Englishmen, and their aim was to achieve by force of argument what the Armada had failed to do by force of arms: return England to the Catholic Church. Eighteen years later their mission would be shattered by the actions of the Gunpowder Plotters -- a small group of terrorists who famously tried to destroy the Houses of Parliament -- for the Jesuits were accused of having designed "that most horrid and hellish conspiracy." Alice Hogge follows "God's secret agents" from their schooling on the Continent, through their perilous return journeys and lonely lives in hiding, to, ultimately, the gallows. She offers a remarkable true account of faith, duty, intolerance, and martyrdom -- the unforgettable story of men who would die for a cause undone by men who would kill for it.

The Baroness: The Search for Nica, the Rebellious Rothschild ISBN: 0307961982 | 2013 | MOBI | 304 pages | 10 MB Beautiful, romantic and spirited, Pannonica, known as Nica, named after her father’s favorite moth, was born in 1913 to extraordinary, eccentric privilege and a storied history. The Rothschild family had, in only five generations, risen from the ghetto in Frankfurt to stately homes in England. As a child, Nica took her daily walks, dressed in white, with her two sisters and governess around the parkland of the vast house at Tring, Hertfordshire, among kangaroos, giant tortoises, emus and zebras, all part of the exotic menagerie collected by her uncle Walter. As a debutante, she was taught to fly by a saxophonist and introduced to jazz by her brother Victor; she married Baron Jules de Koenigswarter, settled in a chateau in France and had five children. When World War II broke out, Nica and her five children narrowly escaped back to England, but soon after, she set out to find her husband who was fighting with the Free French Army in Africa, where she helped the war effort by being a decoder, a driver and organizing supplies and equipment. In the early 1950s Nica heard “’Round Midnight” by the jazz pianist and composer Thelonious Monk and, as if under a powerful spell, abandoned her marriage and moved to New York to find him. She devoted herself to helping Monk and other musicians: she bailed them out of jail, paid their bills, took them to the hospital, even drove them to their gigs, and her convertible Bentley could always be seen parked outside downtown clubs or up in Harlem. Charlie Parker would notoriously die in her apartment in the Stanhope Hotel. But it was Monk who was the love of her life and whom she cared for until his death in 1982. Hannah Rothschild has drawn on archival material and her own interviews in this quest to find out who her great-aunt really was and how she fit into a family that, although passionate about music and entomology, was reactionary in always favoring men over women. Part musical odyssey, part love story, The Baroness is a fascinating portrait of a modern figure ahead of her time who dared to live as she wanted, finally, at the very center of New York’s jazz scene.

In Search of Gentle Death: The Fight for Your Right to Die With Dignity English | ISBN: 1929175361 | 2012 | EPUB, MOBI | 479 pages | 1,4 + 1,6 MB Death is inevitable. But bad deaths those accompanied by unnecessarily prolonged pain and suffering, often aggravated by immensely costly and frequently futile medical treatments, can be avoided. This book explores the pioneering, highly pragmatic and practical work carried out by the international death-with-dignity movement over the last forty years to eliminate the last bad death. It offers clear and valuable examples of how, through frank communication with caregivers and loved ones and the use of Advance Medical Directives such as living wills, those who are facing the possibility of death in the foreseeable future, and those who help them cope, can greatly minimize or eliminate end-of-life turmoil, family dissention, and pain. It also proposes a comprehensive rethinking of end-of-lifecare assumptions and a realignment of strategies to create a caring continuum to meet the rapidly expanding demands for death with dignity in the coming years.

Richard Cote' based this unique book on five years of intensive primary source research and more than one hundred in-depth interviews with death-with-dignity pioneers, activists, physicians, nurses, hospice workers, and their patients on four continents. It is written in narrative style for a general audience and intensely documented for the scholar. It illuminates the subject using 92 images and twelve hyperlinks to exclusive YouTube video interviews with death-withdignity leaders worldwide. It explores the modern history of the death-with-dignity movement through the lives of its founders, leaders, and activists. Using personal case histories from around the world, it also portrays the often heartbreaking conflict between the final wishes of those who are living or dying in pain and the religious, medical, and laws which force them to spend their last days, months, or even years in avoidable pain and suffering against their clearlystated will. Drawing on the most recent scientific and medical information, it also describes the rapid evolution of legal, dignified, readily available, painless methods which the tortured and the dying can use to hasten their own death without assistance, in the company, if they choose, of their friends and loved ones. PLEASE NOTE: this 379-page book replaces and updates Cote s 42-page 2008 technical booklet (now obsolete and out of print) titled In Search of Gentle Death: A Brief History of the NuTech Group an end-of-life technology development organization. All of NuTech s work is now described fully in Chapter 6 of this new 2012 book.

Knowing Too Much English | ISBN: 1935928775 | 2012 | EPUB | 433 pages | 1 MB Traditionally, American Jews have been broadly liberal in their political outlook; indeed African-Americans are the only ethnic group more likely to vote Democratic in US elections. Over the past half century, however, attitudes on one topic have stood in sharp contrast to this group's generally progressive stance: support for Israel. Despite Israel's record of militarism, illegal settlements and human rights violations, American Jews have, stretching back to the 1960s, remained largely steadfast supporters of the Jewish "homeland." But, as Norman Finkelstein explains in an elegantly-argued and richly-textured new book, this is now beginning to change. Reports by Human Rights Watch, Amnesty International and the United Nations, and books by commentators as prominent as President Jimmy Carter and as well-respected in the scholarly community as Stephen Walt, John Mearsheimer and Peter Beinart, have increasingly pinpointed the fundamental illiberalism of the Israeli state. In the light of these exposes, the support of America Jews for Israel has begun to fray. This erosion has been particularly marked among younger members of the community. A 2010 Brandeis University poll found that only about one quarter of Jews aged under 40 today feel "very much" connected to Israel. In successive chapters that combine Finkelstein's customary meticulous research with polemical brio, Knowing Too Much sets the work of defenders of Israel such as Jeffrey Goldberg, Michael Oren, Dennis Ross and Benny Morris against the historical record, showing their claims to be increasingly tendentious. As growing numbers of American Jews come to see the speciousness of the arguments behind such apologias and recognize Israel's record as simply indefensible, Finkelstein points to the opening of new possibilities for political advancement in a region that for decades has been stuck fast in a gridlock of injustice and suffering.

The Payoff: Why Wall Street Always Wins English | 2012 | ISBN: 1935212966 | 288 pages | PDF | 3 MB

Lobbyist, White House Lawyer, and Senate Aide on the Power of America’s Plutocracy to Avoid Prosecution and Subvert Financial Reform Beginning in January 2009, THE PAYOFF lays bare Washington’s culture of power and plutocracy. It’s the story of the twenty-month struggle by Senator Ted Kaufman and Jeff Connaughton, his chief of staff, to hold Wall Street executives accountable for securities fraud, to stop stock manipulation by high-frequency traders, and to break up toobig-to-fail megabanks. This book takes us inside their dogged crusade against institutional inertia and industry influence as they encounter an outright reluctance by the Obama administration, the Justice Department, and the Securities and Exchange Commission to treat Wall Street crimes with the gravity they deserve. On financial reforms, Connaughton criticizes Democrats for relying on the very Wall Street technocrats who had failed to prevent the crisis and Republicans for staunchly opposing real reforms primarily to enjoy a golden opportunity to siphon fundraising dollars from the Wall Street executives who had raised millions to elect Barack Obama president. Connaughton, a former lawyer in the Clinton White House, illuminates the pivotal moments and key decisions in the fight for financial reform that have gone largely unreported. His arch, nonpartisan account chronicles the reasons why Wall Street’s worst offenses were left unpunished, and why it’s likely that the 2008 debacle will happen again.

The book includes a broad definition of greetings that include everything from announcements from new baby to new company information; invitations from weddings to gallery openings; as well as moving cards; event posters; holiday greetings; birthday cards; gift cards; and more.

Knitted Socks East and West: 30 Designs Inspired by Japanese Stitch Patterns English | ISBN: 1584797991 | 2009 | PDF | 144 pages | 260 MB

In Knitted Socks East and West, author Judy Sumner compares knitting a sock to writing a haiku: both challenge you to create something beautiful and original within a sparse, strict format. In this, her first book, she recounts how she came to study hundreds of exquisite Japanese stitch patters and then apply her new knowledge to the sock designs showcased here. Whether short or long, fine or bulky, simple or complex, each of the 30 designs in Knitted Socks East and West is named afer an intriguing aspect of Japanese culture. For example, the leg of the Origami crew socks appears to fold in and out; the Sumo slipper socks are named after the heavy, organic movement of the cables in their thick yarn; and the Ikebana knee socks highlight a textural floral design. Step-by-step text and easy-to-read charts are included for each design, along with illustrated directions for the Japanese stitchwork introduced in the projects.

Quick-Fix Indian: Easy, Exotic Dishes in 30 Minutes or Less English | ISBN: 1449409776 | 2012 | EPUB | 224 pages | 15 MB For too long, Indian cuisine has been perceived as complex and time-consuming to prepare. Quick-Fix Indian aims at making Indian cooking accessible to everybody--the beginner, the experienced cook, absolutely anyone wanting to try his or her hand at a new cuisine. The 125 dishes in Quick-Fix Indian are modern and fresh, yet rooted in tradition. These recipes are identifiable as Indian, but that's where the familiarity ends--most of these recipes haven't been seen before, anywhere. While the dishes are simple to make, they are by no means simplistic. They are bright, modern, and complex tasting, belying the fact that they only took 30 minutes or less to prepare. The recipes range from quick breakfasts and soups, to curries, snacks, and sweet drinks. Some of the recipes included are: Chickpea Salad with Pomegranate , Stir-Fried Beef with Peppers, Beet Raita with Cilantro, Sweet Coconut Rice, Spicy Coastal Scramble, Pan-Fried Silky Eggplant, Coriander Shrimp with Zucchini, and Kids' Favorite Banans Fritters. While most of the recipes use easy-to-acquire ingredients, there are a few that will require a trip to a health-food or Indian store. As an added bonus, the book also lists 'exotic' substitutions for readers who'd like to try them. For example, mustard oil adds a special zing to the Sprouted Mung Bean Salad, but canola oil works just fine. And finally, this cookbook is fun. Written in a lighthearted manner, Quick-Fix Indian amuses readers while also providing solid information.

The Great Siege: Malta 1565 [Audiobook] ISBN: 1470830337, ASIN: B009WTV428 | 2012 | Mp3 | ~07:14:00 | 199 MB Suleiman the Magnificent, sultan of the Ottoman Empire and the most powerful ruler in the world, was determined to conquer Europe. Only one thing stood in his way: a dot of an island in the Mediterranean called Malta, which was occupied by the Knights of Saint John, the cream of the warriors of the Holy Roman Empire. A clash of civilizations was shaping up, the likes of which had not been seen since Persia invaded Greece. Determined to capture Malta and use its port to launch operations against Europe, Suleiman sent an armada and an overwhelming army. A few thousand defenders in Fort Saint Elmo fought to the last man, enduring cruel hardships. When the Turks captured the fort, they took no prisoners and mutilated the defenders' bodies. Grand Master La Vallette of the Knights reciprocated by decapitating his Turkish prisoners and using their heads to cannonade the enemy. Then the battle for Malta began in earnest: no quarter asked, none given. The Great Siege is not merely a gripping tale of brutality, courage, and tenacity but the saga of two mighty civilizations struggling for domination of the known world. Ernle Bradford (1922 - 1986) was a prominent British historian specializing in the Mediterranean world and naval history. He served in the Royal Navy for the duration of World War II and later traveled throughout the Mediterranean, living for a while on Malta. He was a BBC broadcaster and magazine editor, as well as the author of many acclaimed books, including biographies on Cleopatra, Hannibal, and Caesar. Part 1:
