Our learning in September The children will be taking part in experiences to develop their knowledge about “My Wonderful Life. They will be learning about themselves and their families, different homes that we live in as well as Nursery and home routines. As the learning outcomes accompanying the topics are responsive, they will be selected at the end of August. These will be on view on the planning wall please take a few minutes to have a look.

Literacy and Numeracy Literacy and numeracy are incorporated into everything the children do in Nursery both indoors and outdoors. Literacy is encouraged through looking at books and beginning to recognize print, recognizing their written name and being exposed to environmental print e.g. the names of local supermarkets/ restaurants. Numeracy experiences include setting the table for lunch, how many girls and boys are in, counting the number of steps to the garden etc.

Independence The children have done very well in developing their independence skills, we would like to thank you for encouraging the children to carry on this aspect at home. Most of the children can put on and take off their jackets, hats and shoes. Some children can also change their own clothes. The children who have made the transition to The Busy Bee Room will be encouraged and supported by the staff to develop this skill and
