EDITOR'S NOTE
Welcome to a very special edition of REALM, as the community reaches an incredibly exciting milestone – its 10 year anniversary.
Over the past decade, Hamilton Reach has transformed from an industrial site to a vibrant community, and the bustling end of 2022 is a true representation of how much this community has evolved.
We also take a moment to pay tribute to a much loved community member, Frances Collins, who recently passed away, leaving behind a beautiful legacy and a reminder of the role we play in our community every day.

THREE MILE RACE
ROWERS COMPETE FOR THE ULTIMATE WIN
BRISBANE ROWING TEAM TAKES OUT TOP SPOT IN THE FOURTH ANNUAL THREE MILE RACE - QUEENSLAND'S PREMIER RIVER ROWING EVENT.
An ongoing tradition within the Hamilton Reach community, the Three Mile Race, graced Northshore Beach for the fourth consecutive year in September 2022.
Some of Queensland’s finest rowers embarked on the tough 3-mile-long competition along the Brisbane River. The men were vying to win the Lord Mayor’s Challenge while the women were chasing glory for a first in the Lady Mayoress Challenge.
Residents and the broader community gathered to watch this incredible display of rowing, proudly sponsored by Frasers Property Australia.
Trophies and medals were then presented by Brisbane City Councillor (Hamilton Ward) David McLachlan.
Enjoy front row seats when the annual Three Mile Race returns to Hamilton Reach on Sunday, 3 September 2023.
A TRIBUTE TO FRANCES
FRANCES COLLINS’ TRADEMARK RED LIPSTICK BROUGHT HER SMILE TO LIFE.
“I made a promise to myself to get up, put my lipstick on and go out to buy my coffee each morning,” Frances said in 2021, when she was interviewed for REALM magazine.
“I bump into many people when I’m walking – some may nod, others smile or stop for a chat. Most of the friendships I’ve formed here started that way, on my walks or through our great bookclub.”
The mother of five, grandmother of five, and much-loved resident of Hamilton Reach passed away on Australia Day after a long battle with cancer.
Her loss has reverberated through her close friendship circles in the community, from her beloved book club to her many friends at Hamilton Espresso, and the Frasers Property team.
A love of living near water and exploring Brisbane by CityCat saw Frances make the move to Atria South at Hamilton Reach in 2017.
Her daughter Philippa describes the decision as ‘life changing’.
"In Hamilton Reach, Mum found her people. Her community,” Phillipa said.
“She would always talk about how peaceful and quiet it was. She described it as a place of tranquillity, and she felt that the rest of the community really valued that as well.
Phillipa said the local book club, and the friends she made, were very special to Frances.
“What Mum learned at Hamilton Reach is that if you’re willing to give a little, the community gives back in spades,” she said.
“The community spirit is all around you, it’s ready and waiting. You don’t get that everywhere.”
Phillipa said her mother’s love of the area extended to her favourite high street, Racecourse Road.
“Mum knew so many of the retailers,” she said. “The sense of community is very strong on Racecourse Road. It’s a different world. The people value your custom, it’s more personal than the big shopping centres, and Mum treasured those connections.”
Marion Allard, Community Development Manager at Frasers Property, said she was fortunate to count Frances as a friend.
“Frances knew how to connect with people,” Marion said.
“She had a special way of making you feel at the centre of her world when you were with her and she was incredibly generous with her time, her humour, and her stories.
“Her resilience also stood out to me. Not many people knew Frances was unwell. She channelled her own battle with cancer into community-focused events to raise funds for medical research through the annual Australia’s Biggest Morning Tea event.
“It’s a legacy we will continue in her honour.”
Over the past two years, the fundraising event at Hamilton Espresso has raised more than $5,100.
Hamilton Espresso founder and owner, Shaun Witute, was a close friend to Frances and will once again support the event this year.
There will, however, be one notable absence who will be dearly missed.
In Frances Collins’ own words: “I have been absolutely bowled over by everything that happens here. The whole lifestyle is beautiful, and the people are very caring and community minded. Everybody pulls together to help. It really is quite unique.”

WHAT MUM LEARNT AT HAMILTON REACH IS THAT IF YOU'RE WILLING TO GIVE A LITTLE, THE COMMUNITY GIVES BACK IN SPADES.
A DECADE IN THE MAKING
It took just a decade to transform a neglected stretch of land beside the Brisbane River and bordering the Royal Queensland Golf Club at Hamilton, into one of the city’s most elegant and sought-after waterfront communities.
The riverfront location was acquired by Frasers Property in 2010 and within two years, 12 luxury Rothelowmandesigned homes were built and ready to be occupied, with the very first Hamilton Reach residents moving in late 2012.
The first of 12 stages to be developed within Hamilton Reach, Green Quarter set a stunning new standard for premium riverfront living, going on to win the Queensland Urban Development Institute’s Excellence Award for Environmentally Sustainable Development in 2014, the first of many awards to be won by this premium community.
Today the 2.5ha Hamilton Reach neighbourhood – the compact apex of a much bigger urban renewal project masterplanned by the Queensland State Government agency Economic Development Queensland – is home to a tightknit community of more than 1100 residents, with freehold homes, terraces, and apartments set amongst a verdant oasis of parks, gardens, and waterfront landscape.
Ask any of the residents of Hamilton Reach what its defining quality is, and they’re likely to tell you it’s the close-knit community spirit of the neighbourhood. Scott Ullman, General Manager Development at Frasers Property, says that’s no accident either.
“The lifeblood of a place like Hamilton Reach is the people that call it home,” says Scott. “From the beginning, we have invested in events and programmes designed to bring residents together and create new neighbourhood connections. Ten years later, the best endorsement of that strategy is that the community now actively organises its own fundraisers, book clubs, and regular get togethers, without much intervention from us at all.”
Elisha Matthews has been a resident of Hamilton Reach since 2019. As the President of the Hamilton Reach Community Association, she can attest to the supportive nature of the people that live here.
“As a wheelchair user, I can’t always get by on my own,” says Elisha. “I’m grateful for the help and support of my neighbours, who are always reaching out to offer help. And it’s not just me. When one of my neighbours had major surgery recently, people pitched in to bring groceries, cook meals, and provide care. That’s just how it is here.”
The boutique nature of the community, combined with beautiful interconnecting public spaces, means that Hamilton Reach residents bump into each other regularly, building familiarity and encouraging new friendships.
“This is a pretty active community, so you’ll quite often run into neighbours down by the beach or in the park,” says Elisha. “I have made so many new friends from the people I see regularly in my building. Once you know everyone’s faces, no one is a stranger anymore. And I think even something as simple as that helps to create a much friendlier neighbourhood.”

LUXURY RIVERFRONT HOMES TAKE SHAPE
THE FINAL COLLECTION OF RIVERFRONT HOMES AT HAMILTON REACH IS NEARING COMPLETION.
The newest members of the community will be welcomed later this year as they take up residence in the luxurious Rivers Reach homes. Designed by multi-award winning architects bureau^proberts, and delivered by McNab, these homes really are a privilege reserved for the fortunate few.
As part of ensuring the Hamilton Reach customer experience evolves and is optimised, future residents have enjoyed several opportunities to meet and connect with their neighbours, as well as taking a walk through their homes whilst under construction. They have also been
receiving monthly video updates which aim to give them and the wider community a look behind the hoarding to see what’s happening on-site.
The final two homes will come to market once construction is complete. As the last parcel of riverfront land at Hamilton Reach, these highly desirable homes offer an exceptionally rare opportunity to live on this coveted stretch of the Brisbane River.

SCULPTURES BY THE RIVER
SHOWCASING THE BEST IN VISUAL ART
Held in partnership with Sculptors Queensland, the annual ‘Sculptures by the River’ exhibition aims to welcome people to Northshore and activate the local area. Last year, several sculptures were placed in the riverside park, Maritime Green, for locals and newcomers to enjoy. Our Hamilton Reach community were invited to an exclusive event at The Shed, to celebrate the beginning of the indoor exhibition.
A collection of specially chosen sculptures were also on display within the Hamilton Reach Sales and Display Centre for our community to enjoy.
Due to the incredible success of Sculptures by the River, this wonderful activation returns to Hamilton Reach in October 2023.
