Once you have decided on all the important details, your wedding will be handed over to your personal wedding coordinator at Kingfisher Bay Resort, K’gari. The wedding coordinator will contact you for the finer details and arrangements regarding your special day.

Kingfisher Bay Resort provides a stunning variety of natural eco-systems from beach to bushland, mangroves and eucalypt forests, and also offers you the chance to turn a seven-hour wedding into a special day/night affair with the people you love.
GETTING HERE
Accessing World Heritage-listed K’gari, just north of Noosa, is seamless and hassle free. The island sits five nautical miles off the Hervey Bay (Fraser Coast) mainland.
Kingfisher Bay Resort operates scheduled return ferry services from River Heads to Kingfisher Bay.

To marry in Australia you must be 18 years of age or over. All couples are required by Australian law to submit a “Notice of Intended Marriage” form to their marriage officiator at least one month prior to their wedding date. This form may be obtained from your marriage officiator, from the Registry of Births, Deaths and Marriages Office or online.

Once you have downloaded a “Notice of Intended Marriage”, please sign it in the presence of an authorised person before sending it to your marriage officiator.
YOUR CELEBRANT
Once you’ve decided on your wedding date and have confirmed the date is available with the resort, please select and finalise a wedding celebrant from our Preferred Suppliers Listing. The wedding celebrant fees are inclusive in our wedding packages. They will discuss with your legal procedures and ceremony content.
THE WEATHER
Known to the Butchulla people as K’gari or “paradise”, K’gari is one of Australia’s best-kept destination wedding gems. Its colourful cliffs and sand dunes, fantastic landscapes, precious wildlife and rich heritage are only some of the things that the island boasts. It’s no surprise couples elect to wed on an island so naturally perfect.
One of the common questions couples ask when planning their K’gari wedding, is when the best time is to get married on the island. If you ask us, of course, we’d say anytime of the year! The K’gari climate is outstanding all year-round. But to give you a more objective view, here we share some information about K’gari’s weather and climate.
During the winter months, which are from May to August, the temperatures run around 14 to 25 degrees Celsius. Whilst in summer, from January until March, temperatures can go up from 23 to 30 degrees Celsius. Wettest months are January to March (about 160mm rainfall per month) with drier months in winter/spring (54mm rainfall in September).
CEREMONY TIMES
Every wedding hosted at Kingfisher Bay Resort is special to us. We offer a limited number of ceremony times per day to ensure no one wedding is impacted by another. Only one wedding will take place at Kingfisher Bay at one time. Choose from 11am, 1pm, 3pm* or 5pm*. Ceremony times are flexible based on bookings held.
*minimum numbers apply for weekend weddings with a 3pm or 5pm time slot on certain dates, overnight accommodation required for the celebrant when booking a 5pm ceremony time.

Walk down our enchanted paperbark forest aisle to this scenic beachfront location. Here, water laps just metres from you and there are sweeping views of the stunning Great Sandy Strait Marine Park.

STIRLING DECK
Enjoy an intimate setting to say ‘I do’, with the resort’s renowned Queenslander timber architecture and native flora offering a picturesque photo backdrop.
This venue hosts up to 40 guests.
THE ATRIUM
Native timber abounds with panoramic high glass windows and striking grand staircase – which overlooks the Lake McKenzie-shaped swimming pool and lush green gardens – making this a natural choice for a ceremony venue.
This venue hosts up to 70 guests.
VENUE HIRE
Hire of the above venues are included in our wedding packages. Fees are inclusive of 12 Americana chairs, registry table, PA system with iPod connectivity and water station. Additional décor items can be obtained from our partner theming suppliers.

Our lovely Queenslander-style architecture offers an intimate deck area, looking out onto the lush native greenery of our resort grounds. Take advantage of K’gari’s temperate island climate and celebrate in style with a cocktail or seated event, with the veranda offering an array of styling options, as well as protection in the case of wet-weather.

This outdoor venue is a four-million-star experience! Whether you’ve planned a casual beach wedding or desire a one-of-a-kind bush venue complete with open fires – then this will be sure to impress.

WONGARI DECK
Our Queenslander verandas offer lovely intimate deck areas or semi-private sub-tropical verandas and take full advantage of our temperate climate. (up to 100 guests seated and 200 guests standing).

THE BALLROOM
Our spacious ballroom can seat up to 200 people or can be divided into smaller rooms for intimate affairs. The air-conditioned reception space has a semi-private deck, and plenty of dance floor/ entertainment options.

RESTAURANT DINING
The resort offers a variety of options for a lunch or dinner booking. Kingfisher Bay Resort draws our inspiration from the island’s traditional owners – the Butchulla people – and turn out exquisite dishes that reflect our Aussie bush heritage with a hint of K’gari on the plate.
All restaurants offer dining deck-side which is lovely in summer and spring. Hosting up to 30 guests, dining in a resort restaurant for a post-ceremony celebration dinner is not sole use and you will be joining other resort guests. Set up is existing, no microphone speeches or private entertainment is allowed. Music is through the in-house system. The decor is minimal. No dance floor is provided.

Venue hire fees include tables, chairs, white table linen, all crockery, cutlery and staff. Chair covers with sash, table centrepieces and other decorations are an additional cost and can be obtained from our partner theming suppliers. Should you select an offsite location on K’gari for the exchanging of your wedding vows, please note additional charges will apply (includes wedding coordinator pre wedding day site inspection, wedding day coordination at offsite location, 4WD return bus transfers for guests and return supplier transfers). Prices vary depending on location and timing.
For offsite wedding ceremonies outside resort grounds, you may need an Organised Event Permit if you are planning to conduct a non-commercial organised activity in one of K’gari’s national parks, regional parks, marine parks, State forests or recreation areas. It is the responsibility of the couple to submit and pay for this application directly with Queensland Parks & Wildlife and advise Kingfisher Bay Resort of the final decision/outcome.
