Assistant Director of Media Relations
Katie Zigars enters her second season as an Assistant Media Relations Director. She spent the past year handling statistics and communications for soccer, volleyball, women’s basketball and men’s and women’s tennis, as well as assisted with softball and other duties. Prior to her duties as the Assistant Media Relations Director, she worked as a graduate assistant in the media relations office handling the communications efforts for Idaho State’s men’s and women’s programs for track and field, cross country, tennis and golf. Zigars covered the men’s golf team in their final season with Idaho State. She previously spent four years on the Idaho State women’s tennis team and worked in the media relations office as both a volunteer and as an intern. Zigars was a four-year starter on the tennis team from 2004-07, earning Big Sky All-Academic honors in all four of her seasons. She moved up from a walk-on to a scholarship athlete and played #1 doubles as a junior and senior and #4 singles for the Bengals as a junior and senior. Was one of the best doubles performers for the Bengals. She was honored at the 2007 Bennion Banquent with the ISU Athletic Advisory Boards Scholar-Athlete Award. Zigars graduated in May of 2007 with a 3.92 grade point average in Mass Communication with an emphasis in Advertising and Public Relations and a minor in Marketing. A native of Meridian, Idaho, Zigars works on completing her masters in Athletic Administration at Idaho State.
