Das Konzept FRANK ist ein freies, kreatives Magazin von und mit jungen Kreativen aus den unterschiedlichsten gestalterischen Bereichen. In jeder Ausgabe wird ein neuer, vorgegebener Begriff thematisiert, der aus einem Pool an eingereichten Begriffen gelost wird. Auf den folgenen Seiten siehst du zum genannten Thema Arbeiten unterschiedlichster K端nstler, die ohne stilistische Vorgaben nach eigener Interpretation und Konzeption realisiert wurden.

We have a dead astronaut with a cubic thing as a symbol of intelligence coming out of him. Is this the message or some foreign entity itself I leave to the viewers to decide.

Es ist die Erzählung eines kleinen Mädchens, das beschließt die Erde zu verlassen und aufregende Abenteuer in den unendlichen Weiten des Weltraums zu erleben. Schnell erkennt das Kind dass die neue Welt die sie kennenlernt, Reflektion ihres Lebens auf der Erde ist.
Space for Time / Tim Coulson As a portrait photographer, landscapes had always been a part of what I did but never the focus. Night photography was something that I had almost no experience with until late last year when I found myself in the middle of Zion National Park, standing on a bridge in between mountains of indescribable beauty with two cops from California who also happened to be photography enthusiasts. That night I captured an image over about 30 seconds and since then, I’ve been chasing nightscapes wherever I am. There’s a beauty in darkness that I never knew existed.

Volume / David McLeod I experimented with how particles interact and adapt their shape to their environment. Setting typographic forms as the containers for these simulations, I found it interesting how the space within each character informed the patterns and shape the particle systems created.

Home Installations / Žarko Aleksić & Jelena Micić »Home Installations« is a project of Žarko Aleksić and Jelena Micić in which they use different living spaces as the sites for production and presentation of works, without depriving the functional character of the space in use. The project included two living spaces so far – »Visiting Patriarch« in Belgrade (Serbia) and »Toilet on the second floor« in Knjaževac (Serbia), when the new space called »I have no other home« was initiated in March 2014 in Vienna (Austria). »I have no other home« is the third space within Home installations. We formed it in March 2014 after spending most of our time at the Academy of Fine Arts, while looking for an apartment in Vienna. The space itself is actually a student’s studio at room E17/left which is located on the ground floor at Schillerplatz 3.
Six exhibitions took place in this space, and they were made using materials found on or near to the Academy. The photos are documentations of those exhibitions.

Analogies / Jelena Micić A series of analog photographs taken 2012-2013 in Belgrade and Knjaževac, Serbia. Using films/ slides with expired date of use the urban architecture, even though colorful and lively, gets a specific opposite notion of absence and lifelessness.

Emptyland is about an imaginary island where all the animals are empty, asexual and immortal. They didn’t need to hunt, nor were they scared of being hunted, so there is a perfect symbiosis. The idea itself is to give to the „Space“ the importance that it deserves: the empty space like a white paper, a place to create. You can not sit on a chair when there is somebody sitting on it, but you can do whatever you want with a free chair, and that’s because of the empty space from the chair.

Afterlife, Spacelo, Arachne / Lauren Young Smith I started working with Space symbolism when my little sister started working at NASA. I have a lot of family history hedged in space and flight, but it was all sort of dormant until recently. My father was a pilot and he wanted to be an astronaut, but unfortunately he passed when I was really young. In 2010 my family and I sent his ashes to space on the Space-X Dragon shuttle. My brain got hooked on ideas of space and part of my DNA dispersed in the ether. When my sister entered a Mars simulation camp in the desert, she had to wear a space suit whenever she left the habitat, so she ended up having a ton of amazing photos of her in bubble-headed suits, which I started to use for reference. It’s hard to keep my mind away from space.

Ein verrücktes Gefühl wenn Theorie, Chemie und ein Stern so völlig unerwartet genau das machen, was in dem Moment von ihnen erwartet wird. Solargraphie - Abbildung der Sonnenbahn von 31.10.2014 - 01.11. 2014 auf Ilford Multigrade IV Fotopapier. Als Behälter diente eine abgedichtete Filmdose, Dauer der Aufnahmezeit: ca. 20 Stunden.
