CABLE CONNECTION

FROM THE BRIDGE H

&

afa Adai FRANK CABLE Sailors, friends and family,

It has been a busy summer for the FRANK CABLE team! We had a very successful port visit to Subic in June and just completed our major radiological inspection. The whole FRANK CABLE team has been working hard and the results are paying off. The FRANK CABLE holiday party will be Friday, 13 December, at the Pacific Island Club in Tumon. The MWR team is diligently working to ensure it is another outstanding holiday party. Please save the date and I look forward to seeing you there. On September 20, I had the opportunity to participate in Naval Base Guam’s Ombudsman Appreciation Luncheon. It was a great chance to recognize the hard work of the Ombudsmen across the island, but most importantly, FRANK CABLE’s two very capable Ombudsmen, Jenn Cronin and Tricia Belz. Their work to support the FRANK CABLE families are truly outstanding. I would like to thank the FRANK CABLE Family Readiness Group for all they do. We recently had a successful bake sale and the crew is looking forward to the annual Thanksgiving pie sale. Majority of the proceeds from these events will support the annual Holiday Children’s Party, which is always a good time. We are planning an underway in October to maintain crew proficiency and to work on qualifications. As I write this, we are still working the details with our operational commanders. We will let everyone know as soon as the details are finalized. Once again, I would like to thank the FRANK CABLE crew for all of their hard work. Their efforts directly contribute to the effectiveness of the submarine force in the Western Pacific. Your support of your Sailor and the entire FRANK CABLE team contributes directly to the success of the ship and this important mission. Thank you and have a great fall!

Respectfully,

CAPT. Pete Hildreth

H

ello Frank Cable Family,

I just marked my six months on board milestone and am reminded everyday how impressive a ship and crew we have. I am humbly honored to be your Executive Officer. We have been very busy over the past three months and I wanted to say thank you for all of your support. FRANK CABLE deployed to the Republic of the Philippines, passed the NAVSEA 08 audit, conducted numerous drills, and completed repair availabilities on six surface ships and 15 submarines. None of this would be possible without the hard work and dedication of our FRANK CABLE Sailors and Civilian Mariners and the support of their friends and family. With the arrival of the fall season, holidays are right around the corner. This is a great time to spend your hard earned vacation with friends and family but be sure to celebrate safely. Plan your travel to allow enough time to get to your destination safely and incorporate enough rest times between events. Don’t try and drive overnight. For those of you who have been living on the island awhile, you forget that back home there are different weather patterns to be concerned with (rain, snow and ice). Be sure your vehicle is ready to meet these hazards. Remember, operational risk management applies both on, and off duty; make a plan so you can enjoy the holidays safely. Thank you again for all the hard work you do to keep us mission ready.
