Fact Sheet Termicam The Australian owned and operated TermiCam has developed a scientific answer to termite detection using the latest in infrared technology. More than 35 per cent of homes sold in Australia have termites, borers, wood rot or other destructive timber problems, which are often hidden and can be extremely expensive to fix. Termites cause millions of dollars worth of damage to buildings around the world annually with one in three buildings being infested at least once in its lifetime. Recently, termite detection has become even more important due to the banning of many chemicals that are now considered to be environmentally unsafe. Added to this, the traditional method of tapping on wooden structures with the handle of a screwdriver and pulling walls apart is unreliable, destructive and very intrusive. TermiCam is an environmentally safe, non-destructive system that uses no chemicals or radiation apparatuses. It is an international provider of the highest quality pest/building detection and control, using the best infrared technology available. In fact, the technology is so advanced, that part of becoming a TermiCam franchisee requires an application for a high-end thermal imaging camera license with both the Australian Government, and the US Department of Defence. That is how serious TermiCam are about equipping you with the most effective technology available. The company's head office is in Melbourne and since September 1993, director David Rice has developed the business by infusing superior ethics, codes of practice and honest marketing strategies. He believes that business experience and market research indicate that franchising is the most effective way of expanding TermiCam, and part of the strategy is to recruit franchisees and/or master franchisees worldwide. “The focus for TermiCam will be supported by ongoing research and development into thermal uses in pest management, industry, bio-medical detection, veterinary detection and horticulture applications. This, along with commercial development, marketing and ongoing franchising opportunities will ensure TermiCam is the benchmark of the pest industry's future,” he said. “With TermiCam’s distinct image, word has spread quickly and over time our business has become more streamlined, with increased clientele assisting the initially small business into something bigger,” he added. Although TermiCam can detect other pests such as borers, ants, bees and date palm beetles, and more recreantly bed bugs, the business mainly concentrates on termites and pests in general.
