Board of Directors
PRESIDENT’S MESSAGE
Greetings. On behalf of the Nashville Chamber of Commerce’s Board of Directors and our membership, thank you for your support of our activities, not only for this past year but over the past several years. We are a volunteer organization with over one hundred members consisting of small businesses, large companies, civic and charitable organizations, local government agencies and individuals. Our goal is to work towards Nashville and the surrounding area being a wonderful place to live and work. Many of our projects the Chamber handles on our own, but numerous events are co-sponsored with other groups and organizations such as Nashville Parks, Recreation and Cultural Resources and Nash Arts.
Nashville Chamber of Commerce has been extremely active over the past year. Our 25th Blooming Festival was a tremendous success, enjoyed by thousands. To support our young people, the Chamber awarded three $500 scholarships to local graduating high school seniors: Oriana Battle, Issac Lewis and Gabriel Winham. In addition to the installation of new officers and directors at our July annual meeting, 64 Market Place was recognized as 2023 Business of the Year. Fall 2023 simmered our Brunswick Stew Sale, where the proceeds went towards the Downtown Trick or Treat and Children’s Christmas Parade. To encourage public involvement in our municipal elections, the Chamber hosted a well-attended candidate forum for the candidates for Mayor and Town Council. Though the Chamber does not take political positions, we want the citizens of Nashville to be informed when they go to vote. Supporting local business is vital to the Chamber. Throughout the holiday season, we sponsored “It Pays to Shop Local.” A lucky customer’s name was drawn out of the receipts submitted from Chamber member businesses. The winner, Kristi Pittman, received $500 cash. To welcome new residents to Nashville, we have distributed over one hundred fifty bags of goodies and products from Chamber members. Our appreciation to the Town of Nashville for providing the New Resident Bags when someone signs up for new utility services.
Just recently the Nashville Chamber and Nash Arts recognized Jordan Lytton as Distinguished Citizen and Alexander Zipko with the Junior Achievement Award. Right around the corner is the 26th Blooming Festival, which will be a huge event. Volunteers are desperately needed to assist with everything including the Parade, Carnival, Chamber Tent, and Beer Garden. Want to be part of this fun-filled weekend by giving some of your time? Email nashvillencchamber@ gmail.com, call 252-459-4050 or reach out to any Chamber Board Member.
The Nashville Chamber of Commerce’s greatest impact is by encouraging local shopping, which keeps sales tax revenue in the Town of Nashville. We improve the quality of life through our numerous projects, but so much more could be accomplished. Is your business a member of the Chamber? Not a business but want to join? You can join the Chamber as an individual member.
Thanks to Jo Anne Cooper of The Nashville Graphic for putting together this Directory. Also, kudos to our Board of Directors, who are some of the best individuals I have ever served and worked with. Special thanks to everyone who has supported the Nashville Chamber and who strive to enable our community to be the absolute best it can be.

Nashville is known for its small town charm, friendly people and is a “Great Place to Live, Work and Play.”
Founded in 1780, the Town of Nashville is located in eastern North Carolina along US64 (Future I-495) only 5 minutes from I-95. It is centrally located along the east coast approximately half-way between New York City and Miami.
The town has a population of 5,695 and is the county seat for Nash County. It maintains many of the charms of southern towns with tree-lined streets and older historic homes.
Just over a 30 minute commute to Raleigh, NC, the town is a central location for business and pleasure. Its convenient location near the intersection of US64 (Future I-495) and I-95 allows for easy travel along multilane modern highways to nearly any part of the US.
RDU International Airport is only a one hour drive. Further, it’s only a short two hour drive to points along the sandy North Carolina beaches and approximately four hours to the beautiful Blue Ridge Parkway and the Great Smoky Mountains. Washington, DC, is only four hours up Interstate Highway I-95.

“Building
on the Best from Yesterday for a Better Tomorrow”
The Nashville Chamber of Commerce was initially formed in 1951. However during the mid-to-late 70s, the organization ceased activities due to withering volunteerism.
The chamber was revived in 1991 becoming fully operational by 1992.
A new mission statement was penned by the first president and visionary Ben Casey, along with a committee of business leaders.
The statement is quite simple, but powerful.
The first chamber written correspondence in 1992 stated:
“The most significant thing on our boast list is our enthusiastic desire not to rest on any past laurels, but to continue to strive to learn from yesterday to make tomorrow better. Our citizens join with our chamber of commerce in efforts to provide the very best opportunities in education, health services, recreational activities, and all other facets of life that center more on the quality of life, not just the quantity of life.”
“It is not enough to simply say that the people make Nashville special. It is the attitude of our people that is really special. Our people, fully aware we are approaching the twentieth century, are ready for the challenges ahead without losing the flavor, warmth, humor, and sense of caring that comes from our rich heritage, dating back to 1780, the year of the founding of Nashville.”
Want to make a difference?
The Nashville Chamber of Commerce is always seeking volunteers who are interested in the community. The chamber offers several opportunities to volunteer including:
• Distinguished Citizen Award Reception
• Children’s Christmas Celebration / Bicycle Parade
• Nashville Blooming Festival
• Fall Social / Christmas Social / Annual Meeting
• Business After Hours
• Budget / Finance / Fundraising
• Marketing
• Networking Events
• Government Affairs
• Economic Development
• Ribbon Cuttings
• Education

TOWN OF NASHVILLE
Nashville, NC is one of 12 Nashvilles in the United States and is the oldest. The town continues to be regarded as “A Great Place to Live, Work and Play.”
Nashville’s growth rate has made it the fastest growing full service municipality in Nash County, according to the 2010 US Census. This trend is expected to continue as Nashville continues to serve as the geographical and institutional center of Nash County. However, Nashville has kept its small town charm while continuing to grow.
A Downtown Redevelopment Phase I project was completed for the Washington Street area which is part of a revitalization project for all of downtown that will include improvements such as streetscape work on sidewalks, lighting, underground utilities, and building facades. This is just one of many community development projects designed to ensure focus on both issues of depth along with growth to make sure Nashville remains “A Great Place to Live, Work, and Play.” But the main focus has always been the citizens of Nashville.
As the county seat, the town is also host to the county administrative building, courthouse, health department, social services, emergency services, Nash County Sheriff’s Of ce, Senior Center, Nash Arts, and Nash County Public Schools Administrative Of ces along with Nashville Elementary, Nash Central Middle School, Nash Central High School and Northern Nash High School being located either in town or close by.
and activities for adults and youth. Residential areas include a unique blend of historical homes and new construction. Citizens have access to a variety of businesses and services along with parks, recreation and many community organizations which contribute to the quality of life.

SHOP SMALL SATURDAY WINNERS
The Nashville Chamber of Commerce sponsored two $100 shopping sprees for Nashville’s Shop Small Saturday. Pictured above are the 2023 winners: Shelly Midrowski (left); and Emily Pate.
The chamber also organizes a shop local campaign during the holidays, “It PAYS to SHOP LOCAL” giving a lucky winner $500 the week prior to Christmas. Shoppers can submit receipts to the chamber when they shop with a chamber member. The receipts are entered into a drawing for the $500 prize. Kelsi Pittman, pictured at right, is shown receiving the 2023 prize from Chamber President Cliff Joyner.
