ZIG
WITH A DIFFERANCE AS ZIG RIGS BECOME INCREASINGLY POPULAR THE CARP ARE BECOMING WISER TO THEM AND THEREFORE WE NEED TO GIVE OUR ZIGS AN ADDED EDGE... The launch of the Zig Aligna in early 2013 transformed the way that carp anglers fish with and present Zig Rigs. There are now 6 different colours of Zig Aligna available, which gives the angler numerous hookbait combinations to experiment with. As effective as Zig hookbaits are they can at times be a very static hookbait option and therefore the carp will sometimes approach them with caution. This is often the case on heavily pressured venues where Zigs have been used a lot. In these instances adding a few wriggly maggots to the Zig can give the hookbait a whole new edge and create a hookbait that we affectionately call The Ziggler! The beauty of the Zig Aligna is that the band on the back creates the perfect fixing point for tying a few live maggots to via some cotton. Having those few maggots moving on top of the Zig hookbait can entice a carp into sucking the bait in, especially if you spod some maggots over the top of the rig on a little and often basis. Due to the mechanics of the Zig Aligna, as soon as a carp sucks in your Ziggler hookbait the hook will turn and grab hold of the bottom lip and the fish will be nailed!
