Mandoleto is named in honour of the Mandorlo (Almond) tree that grows alongside the vines on the steep hillsides. Each Spring, the Mandorlo flowers bring a touch of beauty to the hash landscape.
Mandoleto is a modern varietal Pinot Grigio from one of Italy's most dramatic and unique wine regions. Over thousands of years of trial and error, the ideal varieties for Italy’s varied climate and landscape have been identified and are presented in the Mandoleto Pinot Grigio.
Il Villaggio Organico is sourced from premium vineyards of some the finest regions from the very north to the very south of Italy. The Pinot Grigio from near the Slovenia border, north-east of Venice and the Nero d’Avola from the far northwestern tip of Sicily, sitting above the ancient city of Erice.
The combination of altitude, mineral soils and protected sites creates richly flavoured but elegant wines. Andrea Sartori has been a pioneer in organic viticulture and the vineyards have been certified organic for up to thirty years.

Fontavera wines are crafted by winemaker Andrea Sartori, the greatgrandson of the founder of the still family-owned Sartori di Verona Winery in 1898, now considered one of the most important wineries of the North-East. Andrea has strongly voiced his concerns of the impact of climate change and advocated the need to support the future of organic viticulture combined with higher altitude plantings. The wines of Fontavera are a direct result of his ambition, seeking out older, organically farmed vineyards grown on higher, cooler sites.
