UVODNIK - FOREWORD Spo tovane fotografinje, dragi fotografi! V veliko veselje in zadovoljstvo mi je bilo prevzeti vodenje organizacije e 6. mednarodnega fotografskega nateèaja Med nebom in zemljo 2014. Vsekakor je to odgovorna in èastna funkcija, ki sem se je lotila z vsem spo tovanjem in malce strahu pred morebitnim neuspehom. Leto nji organizacijski odbor je bil malce »pomlajen«, saj smo poleg e izku enih »maèkov« Erne Furlan, Bogomirja Ipavca ter Otona Naglosta v ekipo vstopili »novinci« Anton Tratnik, Stane Lokar in Alenka Èade Kobol. S timskim delom vseh èlanov ekipe, medsebojno pomoèjo in sodelovanjem nam je uspelo! Iskrena hvala vsem! Uspelo pa nam je predvsem zaradi vas, dragi udele enci nateèaja. Ponovno ste nas preseneèali s svojimi izvrstnimi fotografijami, skozi katere smo lahko podo ivljali va e obèutke, obèudovali kreativnost ter se ob gledanju posnetkov mnogokrat z vami v mislih preselili v va delèek sveta. Na leto nji nateèaj se je prijavilo veè kot 300 avtorjev iz 52 dr av. To za nas predstavlja veliko potrditev za dobro izvedbo vseh preteklih nateèajev ter spodbudo vsem èlanom dru tva za nadaljnje delo. V imenu vseh èlanov organizacijskega odbora se iskreno zahvaljujem vsem avtorjem, ki ste zaupali svoja fotografska dela v ocenjevanje iriji, avtorjem sprejetih fotografij ter prejemnikom nagrad pa iskrene èestitke! Prisrèna zahvala vsem irantom za profesionalno izvedbo zaupane naloge! Zahvaljujem se obema sponzorjema Obèini Ajdov èina in In titutu za varnost Lozej d.o.o. Dear photographers! It has been my great honour and a real pleasure to chair the 6th International Salon of Photography Between the sky and the Earth 2014 . I embarked it with all due respect and also fear of a possible failure. This year s evaluation committee was slightly rejuvenated. The newcomers Anton Tratnik, Stane Lokar and Alenka Èade Kobol joined the experienced team composed of Erna Furlan, Bogomir Ipavec and Oton Naglost. We succeeded with mutual help and cooperation. I thank you all for that! But we really succeeded because of you, dear participants. You surprised us with your excellent photographs, which allowed us to relive your feelings, admire your creativity and sense your world. More than 300 authors from 52 countries applied this year. This was a confirmation of the good work we did in the past and the encouragement for our work in the future. On behalf of the evaluation committee I would like to express sincere gratitude to all the authors, who submitted their photographs. Our compliments and congratulations go to all the authors of the accepted and finally awarded photographs. My warmest thank you goes to all the evaluators for their professionalism. I thank also both sponsors, the Municipality of Ajdov èina and the Lozej Safety Institute d.o.o. Ajdov èina, which trust and financially support us for years. BESEDA IRIJE Èastna dol nost, podati besedo irije, je letos bila dodeljena meni. Poskusil bom izraziti skupne vtise. Ocenjevali smo v dveh skupinah, po trije èlani. Vsaka skupina irantov je ocenjevala dve temi. Tako je bilo la je in prijetnej e. Biti irant je prijetna, a tudi zahtevna in odgovorna dol nost. Zahteva dolgotrajno koncentracijo, ki je predpogoj za objektivno oceno, ki pa je vseeno obremenjena z osebnim pogledom. Te ko je namreè v nekaj sekundah oceniti tehnièno dovr enost, barvno skladnost, kompozicijo, izpoved in "dobro" svetlobo. Od nje je veliko odvisno, kajti z njo pravzaprav fotografi ri emo. Ocenjujem, da smo bili iranti pri svojem delu dokaj usklajeni. To se je pokazalo ob ponovnem pregledu najbolj e ocenjenih fotografij in pri konènem izboru nagrad. Teme po kolièini in predvsem po kvaliteti prispelih del, niso bile povsem enakovredne. Razlika se je najbolj opazila pri temi port, ki zaradi svoje specifiènosti zahteva poseben, vèasih naèrtovan pristop. elimo si, da b i na prihodnih nateèajih videli e veè inovativnih pristopov, veèjo kreativnost in fotografij iz katerih je slutiti neko pripoved. Upam, da smo èlani irije izmed mnogo dobrih, opazili in nagradili tiste fotografije, ki ponujajo nekaj veè. Vsekakor pa je potrebno pohvaliti korektno tehnièno podporo in skrb organizatorja za dobro poèutje èlanov komisije. (Anton Tratnik)
JURY REPORT This year I have the honour to say a few words about the competition and sum up the impressions of the evaluation committee. Two evaluation teams were formed, each consisting of three members. Each team evaluated two topics, which made the evaluation process a lot easier and more enjoyable. Being a member of the evaluation team is a pleasant, however a demanding and responsible task. Intense concentration is a precondition for an objective assessment, however, it is almost impossible to avoid subjectivity. It is difficult to assess technical perfection, colour consistency, composition, expression and light. The later is very important for us, the photographers, since it is our “drawing tool”. The evaluation teams acted coherently, which was evident during the final revision of the highly assessed photographs and when deciding upon awarding. Photographs submitted for individual topic varied in number and quality. Due to its specificity, which demands a special organised approach, the field of sports offered the greatest variety of presented photographs. Our wish for the future is to see even more innovative approaches, greater creativity and a bigger number of photographs, which can tell us a story. I believe that the evaluation committee was able to notice and award photographs, which stood out. Last but not least, I would like to express my sincere gratitude to the organiser of the competition for the technical support and overall organisation, which made evaluation committee feel comfortable throughout the competition. SPONZORJI / SPONSORS Dobrodo li v Ajdov èini Ajdov èina le i v osrèju Vipavske doline, na zahodu Slovenije. Sonèna ju na poboèja in mediteransko podnebje so kot nala è za vinsko trto. Staro znanje in sodobni pristopi uvr èajo vinarje iz Vipavske doline med odliène pridelovalce vin, ki e stoletja slovijo doma in v tujini. V ni ini so podnebni pogoji idealni za pridelovanje sadja in zelenjave. Tukaj nji prebivalci so e v Valvazorjevih èasih oskrbovali Dunaj in druga veèja mesta z vinom in zgodnjim sadjem (èe nje, marelice, breskve). Pomembno vlogo v zgodovini Ajdov èine je odigrala reka Hubelj. Konec 3. stoletja so ob Mrzli reki, kot so jo poimenovali Rimljani, zgradili utrdbo Castra. Na tem obmoèju je 5. in 6. septembra leta 394 potekal eden najveèjih antiènih spopadov, znamenita bitka pri Frigidu. Njen izid je odloèila burja, ki je Teodozijevim voj èakom podeseterila moè pu èic, Evgenijevim vojakom pa trgala èite iz rok, pu èice in kopja pa obraèala v lastne vrste. Ob Hublju so e v 16. in 17. stoletju delovale fu ine in kovaèije za elezo, nato pa je moè tega nikoli presahlega hudournika izkori èalo e mnogo drugih obrtnih delavnic. Hubelj je bil tudi meja med Gori ko in Kranjsko de elo. Izvir Hublja danes privablja tevilne obiskovalce od blizu in daleè, e posebej velièasten je po obilnem de evju. Eno od naravnih èudes je tudi znamenito Otli ko okno na robu Gore. Po ljudskem izroèilu ga je naredil sam hudiè. Skozi votlo steno se odpira nenavaden pogled na dolino. Nepozaben panoramski pogled na Vipavsko dolino lahko do ivite tudi, èe poletite z ajdovskega letali èa z motornim ali jadralnim letalom ali pa se s padalom spustite z vzleti èa Kovk na Gori. Poboèje Trnovske planote in Vipavski grièi so prepredeni z lepo urejenimi pohodnimi potmi, tukaj pa so tudi odlièni pogoji za kolesarjenje, saj teren omogoèa la je in te je kolesarske podvige - s strmimi vzponi in spusti. V portnem parku Pale je na voljo proga za 4-kros, ki omogoèa treninge skozi celo leto. Vabljeni v Ajdov èino - de elo sonca, burje, vina in prijaznih ljudi.
SPONZORJI / SPONSORS Welcome to Ajdov èina The city of Ajdov èina lies in the centre of the Vipava valley which is located in the western part of Slovenia. The sunny southern slopes and the Mediterranean climate are ideal for the growth of grape vines. Ancient knowledge and modern approaches place the Vipava winegrowers among the most excellent wine producers who have been well-renowned at home and abroad for centuries. Climatic conditions in the lowland of the valley are perfect for fruit and vegetable cultivation. Already during the time of Valvasor the local population supplied the city of Vienna and other larger cities with wine and early fruits (cherries, apricots, peaches). The river Hubelj also played an important role in the history of Ajdov èina. At the end of the 3rd century, the Romans built the Castra fortification next to the river Mrzla reka. On the 5th and 6th September in 394, one of the greatest battles of the antiquity took place at this area the famous Battle of the Frigidus. Its outcome was decided by the bora wind which increased the strength of arrows by Theodosius soldiers by tenfold and snatched the shields out of the hands of Eugenius soldiers and redirected their arrows and spears straight back to them. As early as in the 16th and 17th century many ironworks and iron forges operated by the river Hubelj. Later on, other crafts workshops also took advantage of this powerful, never dried-up torrent. In previous times, the river Hubelj also represented the border between the Gorizia and Carniola regions. Today, the source of the river Hubelj attracts numerous visitors from near and far and is especially magnificent after heavy rain downpour. One of the valley s natural wonders is also the famous Otlica window located on the edge of the Gora Plateau. The folk tradition says that this window was formed by the devil himself. The view towards the Vipava valley through its hollow wall is truly exceptional. You can also experience the memorable panoramic view over the Vipava valley from the air by taking a flight on a small airplane or a glider from the Ajdov èina airport or by paragliding from the Kovk na Gori paragliding take-off. The slopes of the Trnovo Plateau and the Vipava Hills are covered with well-arranged hiking trails and also offer excellent cycling opportunities as the terrain allows easier and more demanding cycling ventures with steep ascends and descends. V zadnjih letih so sodelovali pri projektiranju vrste pomembnih objektov v Sloveniji. Za opravljanje strokovnih nalog e imajo pooblastila Ministrstva za delo, dru ino in socialne zadeve, Ministrstva za okolje in Ministrstva za zdravje, z dodatnimi znanji in certifikati kakovosti pa si prav na tem poslovnem podroèju odpirajo nove mo nosti, tako pri pridobivanju poslov, kot tudi pri irjenju dodatne ponudbe. In titut za varnost Lozej zaposluje 21 ljudi, vsak od njih je strokovnjak na svojem podroèju, kar 19 pa jih ima visoko, vi jo in podiplomsko izobrazbo. Seveda pa pri delovanju tak ne institucije zgolj teoretièno znanje, pridobljeno v oli, e zdaleè ne zadostuje. Da je usposobljenost vsakega zaposlenega predpogoj za doseganje in vzdr evanje dogovorjenega nivoja kakovosti, se zaveda tudi vodstvo dru be, ki to dosega s stalnim usposabljanjem in nagrajevanjem vseh zaposlenih. Zato podpira nenehno izbolj evanje sistema kakovosti in ozave èa vse zaposlene o pomembnosti doslednega izpolnjevanja zahtev in elja naroènika.
