Sugar Land’s got samba!

Many VIPs at new restaurant in town There’s another first on the books for the City of Sugar Land, and this week it’s the opening of Tucanos Brazilian Grill over at First Colony Mall. Jacquie Chaumette, Dennis Parmer, Lucia Street, Doug and Susie Goff, Amy Mitchell, Doug Earle, Bridget Yeung…they were there, and many other VIPs welcoming

the new restaurant this Monday. It’s the 8th in the U.S. owned by a Coloradobased company. The others are in Albuquerque, Boise, Colorado Springs, Newport News (that’s in Virginia), Provo and Salt Lake City in Utah, and St. Charles. The fun, tropical atmosphere felt in part like a Brazilian carnival celebration, and the food was also as eventful with a parade of salads, never ending meats and other delights! Chris Hill, formerly with the Skeeters and now a Strategic Enterprises Executive Director at MMI, which helped promote the event, greeted guests along with other restaurant principals. A novel touch at this restaurant opening were the charity voting ballots placed at each table. Fort Bend Family Promise, the Fort Bend Education Foundation, and the Fort Bend Junior Service League will probably soon find out which will have received the most votes as they may each get a funding hand from the new restaurant company. Voting, but the way, is still open until July 11th and can be done on the restaurant’s website. Got samba? Sugar Land now does!
