Raleigh, N.C. –The Home Builders Association of Raleigh-Wake County (HBA) has become the largest builder association in the country as of Sept. 30. In a report released by the National Association of Home Builders (NAHB) on Oct. 15, the HBA leads the top 100 builder associations in the country, with 2,960 members. “Although the Triangle has been a leader for the past several years, this accolade is just another feather in the cap for our area,” said Tim Minton, executive vice president of the HBA. “The accomplishment of becoming the largest HBA in the country demonstrates the outstanding membership and staff that we have here in Wake County.” In 2006, the HBA of Raleigh-Wake County, became the third largest in the country and has been working toward the goal of number one. Two instrumental people who were responsible for this accomplishment are Nancy Latz, director of sales and marketing for Closet Creations and the 2012 HBA membership chair, and Cindy Sheldon, an executive with the Triad and Triangle Division for D.R. Horton and the 2012 HBA president. Both women gave their time and effort through different roles to make the final push this year to reach that goal. The nearly 3,000 members of the HBA are also members of the North Carolina Home Builder Association and NAHB. The association serves

as a resource for its members in the areas of networking, industry-specific education, community involvement, promotion, and advocacy efforts. The HBA was established in 1959 by 25 builders who saw a need to represent the interests of home builders on issues that affect their ability to provide affordable housing for citizens of Wake County.
