At Foremarke Hall we aim to provide every pupil with the capability to participate and reach their individual potential in movement and physical creativity. All pupils develop technical proficiency and skill acquisition to enable them to take part with confidence and flair.
Sport at Foremarke is fully immersed in the day to day fabric of school life and very often one of the reasons why parents select the school as their chosen pathway for their son or daughter. We endeavour to integrate excellence on the games field with total inclusion and an all embracing participation for all. Fundamental to our ethos is that sport should be enjoyed and pupils can participate with a genuine desire, which in turn develops their confidence to take their sporting experiences forward. Many former pupils enjoy further representative honours at their senior school, university, club, or indeed in the national and international arena.
The boarding environment caters for an extended activity programme which enables boys and girls to access further coaching across our focus sports and beyond. We have superb club, academy, county and regional links where pupils can pursue their sport further and access the performance pathways as they grow and develop. Our close links with Repton School, enable the children to access further top class facilities and coaching staff. The newly developed sports centre allows the boys and girls to experience a leading sporting environment, with facilities including a gym, strength and conditioning suite plus physiotherapy services.
SAM MANSFIELD DIRECTOR OF SPORT
Our fixture programme is substantial and engages children of all abilities. We regularly field weekly fixtures across all age groups from Year 3 to Year 8. House events are enjoyed throughout the year.

WHY PLAY FOOTBALL ?
FOREMARKE HIGHLIGHTS
Football is the most inclusive game of all. Anyone can play and all you need is a pair of shin pads, boots and a ball. It is a dynamic, fast moving game where skill is massively important. Being part of a team means you will improve your social and communication skills whilst it is also crucial for developing focus and decision making. Ultimately football is a fun way of maintaining and improving your fitness. It is the sport that is played and watched by more people across the world than any other and is hugely rewarding whatever level you participate at.
We regularly have boys who represent the Midlands ISFA squad and have also been healthily represented for the ISFA National team too. We have finished second nationally in the IAPS U13 six-a-side tournament whilst also winning the U13 Burton & District Cup. In the past ten years, Foremarke Hall have qualified for the national IAPS 6-a-side competition on nine occasions whilst reaching the last four on a further three occasions.
WHO CAN TAKE PART ? Absolutely anyone. There are professional leagues for both males and females in England. Football is the fastest growing participation sport amongst girls in England and Foremarke Hall offers girls the opportunity to play the exciting game. There are training sessions available for girls in Year 1 all the way through to Year 8 and we compete in ISFA tournaments and play competitive fixtures against other like-minded progressive schools. The boys’ football programme at Foremarke is well established and there are structured training sessions for Years 1 and 2 whilst there are an abundance of external fixtures for boys from Years 3-8. We also run highly successful internal football competitions as well to ensure that every child at Foremarke Hall is able to play football.
Our U11 squad have reached the National finals of the ISFA 7-a-side twice in the past three years and finished third. We provide numerous players for our senior school, Repton, who last year won the ESFA Cup at U18 level, the inaugural season of the elite Independent Schools Hudl League as well as reaching the final of the ISFA Cup in a year of unprecedented success. There is a comprehensive fixture programme every week and in recent times our boys have been signed to Academies at professional clubs such as Stoke City, Leicester City, Derby County and Burton Albion.

NETBALL WHY PLAY NETBALL ? Netball is a fast paced and dynamic team sport which includes a high level of skill. Since England Netball won Gold at the Commonwealth Games in 2018, it is the fastest growing sport for girls and has the largest female participation levels in this country. It develops essential core ball skills, as well as team work and communication. Due to the rules of the netball court, only certain positions can go into certain areas of the court. This, coupled with a three second rule, makes the game a fantastic tool at developing quick decision making and managing pressure. Individuals will learn to work as a team, how to deal with losses and injuries, as well as participating in a team sport in a recreational or competitive setting.
WHO CAN TAKE PART?
“ Sport is amazing at Foremarke, there are loads of opportunities for all”
CURRENT YEAR 7 PUPIL
At Foremarke Hall, all girls have access to netball through their weekly Games lesson and extra-curricular activity programme. Netball is taught to all abilities from Lower Prep through to Upper School. Games lessons provide the opportunity to develop the core skills and knowledge of the game, whilst the activity programme allows time to improve game play. Weekly fixtures are organised from U9 to U13 level, with a number of teams playing for each age group. We also hold an annual U10, U11 and U13 netball tournament. This allows our pupils to experience a tournament format for netball, and to play a number of local school teams and clubs.
PERFORMANCE PATHWAYS Our close relationship with Repton School provides us with an excellent standard of netball facilities. At Foremarke Hall we have access to three outdoor courts, an indoor court, and at Repton we have access to six outdoor courts and two indoor courts. This allows us to facilitate a number of fixtures and training sessions for both our junior and senior girls. We have highly experienced members of staff who currently hold Level 2 coaching and umpiring qualifications, making an exceptional standard of coaching easily accessible to all pupils. Links with local clubs and county satellites and academies allow our girls to progress further outside of school and reach their full potential in netball.
LOOKING FORWARD Netball tours are organised both home and abroad. This will give our girls huge cultural and sporting opportunities to represent Foremarke, meet new people and develop their understanding by playing new teams in a competitive setting.
NETBALL SNAPSHOT • Three outdoor netball courts and access to Repton’s indoor and outdoor facilities • Experienced coaches led by a level 2 qualified coach and supported by former league player • Strong connections with local clubs and outside school pathways • Developmental netball tours with destinations home and abroad • Preseason training tournaments with other schools

TENNIS WHY PLAY TENNIS ?
FOREMARKE HIGHLIGHTS
Foremarke is privileged to have four tennis courts on site and also utilises numerous tennis courts at Repton. Tennis enables the children to play socially or competitively throughout their lives should they wish to do so. At Foremarke we firmly believe in providing opportunities for children to explore, excel and develop a real passion and enthusiasm across the games sphere. Tennis encompasses both performance as an individual and the true team values that are essential for student development. Tennis offers a unique opportunity as a player to evaluate angles and geometry to outwit opponents, which translates to the key development of problem solving off the court.
Foremarke has a developing record in the tennis arena. Over recent times pupils have represented the school in IAPS National Championships successfully obtaining final and semi final places. Our boys’ team were placed fourth in the Aegon National Finals, in Bolton.
WHO CAN TAKE PART ? Opportunities are available to play tennis at a performance level and a recreational level. Pupils from Year 5 to Year 8 play tennis in the PE programme and it is the main game for the senior girls in the summer term. There is a fixture programme in place for pupils to represent the school on a weekly basis. Pupils are provided with excellent coaching and those wishing to excel and develop their tennis further are able to access private one to one lessons. We also run a development squad and a senior squad throughout the winter months in the indoor courts at Repton.
Many of our pupils are successful at the Annual Repton Prep Schools’ Competition. Several pupils access performance centres in Loughborough and Nottingham, enabling those pupils to continue their development. Foremarke is very supportive of our pupils attending such centres of excellence.

WHY SWIM ? Ultimately swimming is a life skill which incorporates many other benefits. Foremarke is fortunate to have an indoor, six lane, 25 metre pool centrally placed within the grounds. Swimming is hugely beneficial as it is a good all-round physical activity. It keeps the heart rate up, it has no impact or stress on the body, builds endurance, muscle strength and cardiovascular fitness. It is hugely rewarding whether you swim for recreation purposes or competitively. It is greatly enjoyable and fun to spend time with friends both socially and as part of a team should pupils compete. Swimming develops discipline, encourages determination, commitment and a willingness to drive through developing mental toughness.
WHO CAN TAKE PART ? Absolutely every child at Foremarke Hall can take part in swimming. There is a well established swimming programme from Reception through to Year 8. We also manage highly successful squads, which run from Year 3 to Year 8 in our after school activity programme. We aim to have every child swimming and confident to do so, by the end of Year 2.
Every child in Year 5 to Year 8 at Foremarke Hall is able to opt to swim on a Wednesday afternoon. For our talented swimmers, support is offered to enable them to access clubs outside of school and link with the Repton senior swim squads coached by the City of Derby. This enables them to develop and access a performance pathway as they move on from Foremarke and through to Repton.
FOREMARKE HIGHLIGHTS We have regularly qualified with a number of swimmers to the IAPS National finals for both individual events and also relays. Whilst qualification for the National finals and winning gold, silver and bronze is a superb achievement, we are equally proud of our young swimmers who swim their first width and develop on to become confident young participants as they move through the school.
