Dickerson’s Lake Florida Resort 1924 - 2017 “Build Sandcastles & Memories” For 92 years, Dickerson’s Lake Florida Resort has been hosting families and friends for vacations and respite from the real world. In 1924, Jens & Emma Larson, Bob’s great grandmother bought the land and seven fishing boats from A.L. & Ellen Madsen. They built seven cottages and started a resort called Shady Rest Beach. In the 1950’s Bob’s parents changed the name to “Lake Florida Resort.” Bob is the 4th generation to own the resort.

Whether building sandcastles or just catching the sun, the 450
feet of level, sand beach is the perfect place to spend a sunny summer afternoon. It is also an ideal spot to watch a gorgeous sunset and listen to the many Loons and wildlife that call Lake Florida home.
A children’s hay ride to Prairie Woods Environmental Learning Center is the highlight of Thursday evening. The night is topped off with a campfire and sweetly toasted marshmallows and s’mores. The peaceful and private resort, located on a dead end road, fosters a safe environment for the children where they can burn off energy and have fun riding bike, catching frogs on the beach or chasing chipmunks in the yard.
When you are at Dickerson’s you are part of our family. Many of our families return year after year as their children are growing up, coming back to renew friendships made at the resort. The resort originally featured six identical small cabins and a seventh that was twice as big. Over the years and passed from generation to generation the cabins have been remodeled and replaced along with the purchase of more land and addition of new cabins. Dickerson’s Lake Florida Resort currently has 13 furnished housekeeping cabins. All of the cabins overlook Lake Florida, one of the area’s most beautiful lakes. A new cabin #5 is being finished for the 2017 vacation season.
Guests are greeted by window boxes overflowing with flowers and a plate of warm, fresh baked cookies on their table. Sunday mornings feature Connie’s homemade donuts and a time for all to get re-acquainted. Monday night is the resort all you can eat pizza picnic. Bicycles, tricycles, wagons, boats, motors, pontoon, hydro-bikes, kayaks and stand up paddleboards all add to the fun. 21
