Why?
You have chosen to organize a FOOD DRIVE — that means you are signing up for the HUNGER HERO UNITE campaign.
Most households rely on shelf-stable products in some way, but for those living in food poverty and without regular access to affordable, nutritious fresh food—the pantr y is a lifeline to their next meal.
As part of the HHU campaign, FoodBlessed will be working with HUNGER HEROES to combat food poverty and help reduce the suffering of malnourished individuals in Lebanon. As a HUNGER HERO, you’ll be helping FoodBlessed in rescuing people suffering from food poverty. Malnourishment or inability to meet one’s nutritional requirements on a daily basis is one consequence of food poverty. Malnourishment has dire effects on one’s health particularly the unaided elderly, children, pregnant women, and refugees. To achieve his/ her objective, a Hunger Hero will organize a Food Drive.
What exactly is a Food Drive? “Is the process of collecting and distributing staple food items (eg rice, oil, sugar, etc.) to those in need.” Staple items are generally either collected directly as donations from private pantries and local supermarkets or purchased using “ food money ” (money donated for the purpose of purchasing food items). After the collection step, food items are packed into Mouneh boxes and delivered to the needy folks. A standard FoodBlessed Mouneh box can contain 15-20 items and can produce around 150 meals.

Where and Who? . Your family members at home . Your neighbors in your building, or your housemates . Your colleagues/classmates at school, university, office, workplace . A group you belong to, could be your mosque-/churchgoers, your yoga class, or even your basketball teammates
Your food drive can be pretty much anywhere and include anyone with the will and passion to end hunger! Commitment and a BIG smile are crucial!
GETTING STARTED
We don’t want you to do this alone, we want to give you as much help and support as you need. We are always available! We’ve organized food drives before. And we can tell you that they are fun!
Meet our Food Drive Officer who will help you in: . Talking to your boss, school director, and even your own folks if she has to…basically whoever you need to ask permission from . Publicizing the event and printing posters . Raising food items/“ food money ” . Recruiting volunteers . Setting up a collection point for the food items . Arranging the transport of the collected food items to our food bank . Planning and arranging a packing day
What do you NEED to run a food drive? . . . . . . .
YOU, obviously ! Lots and lots of energy and enthusiasm! Your friends, family, co workers, the dog, etc A way to let ever yone know what you are doing (Social media is one) A place to collect the food, choose a day/days and a time Something to put the food items in A means of transport to get the collected items to our food bank
What do you NEED for Packing day? . . . .
YOU, plus lots and lots of energy and enthusiasm! Your friends, family, co workers, the dog, etc Suitable cardboard boxes Water bottles and yummy treats for your helpers
AFTER THE FOOD DRIVE
After your food items have been successfully packed, we will invite you to attend the distribution. We will send your school, university, office, etc.., a Thank You letter and lots and lots of photos showing you all hard at work…and lots of photos of ver y happy recipients feeling “FoodBlessed” after receiving the Mouneh boxes that you and your team worked so hard to collect and package ! You can run a Food Drive as often as you like, but we suggest not more than 6 times per year.

- You can choose to donate any or all of the items listed above. - In case you wish to make a donation, kindly note that a typical “FoodBlessed ” mouneh box costs us around $30 to assemble and package excluding the hygiene items. With the hygiene items, it will cost us around $35. Each box is enough to prepare an estimate of 100 plus meals. - All items donated will be given to FoodBlessed, a local hungerrelief initiative aimed at “ feeding the hungr y, one meal at a time”.
