Plans for the (near) future Postdoctoral position at either Los Alamos National Laboratory in New Mexico, USA working in diagnostic systems and plasma physics for the PLX experiment, a new Magnetic Inertial Fusion experimental device. Or go to CRPP in Lausanne, to work as a postdoctoral researcher focused on upgrading the TCV tokamaks Thomson scattering diagnostic system and play a role in plasma physics studies using the newly upgraded system of the plasma edge and divertor regions. Advice to current PhD students Take advantage of the expertise around you: supervisors or other scientists, engineers or fellow students. Start writing the thesis chapters a year in advanced so you have time to get that last bit of research done. Finally, take time to travel and relax, your work and attitude will deteriorate otherwise.

Plans for the (near) future I'm currently traveling through South-America and the stories of the people that I meet inspire me to be creative in job finding. When I'm back I will carefully explore the different options. I'm passionate about explaining physics subjects to a non-expert public so a career in science journalism would be one of the possibilities.

Advice to current PhD students First, don't be afraid to ask questions! Your research is not in the books yet. Talking with people in the field provides insights and inspiration. Secondly, participate in outreach. The enthusiasm and curiosity of people who visit an open day gives a lot of motivation to continue when the work gets harder.
