About F O L K E Olga Pota started a tableware and home decor brand FOLKE in 2014 with the vision of creating a global lifestyle brand that popularizes high-end design, endorses intentional buying, offers premium quality at affordable prices, and empowers local craftsmanship from around the world. She soon persuaded her sister Mila to plunge into the corporate world and join her to expand the business internationally. M AR B LE Tableware The original design of this collection was inspired by natural marble – the iconic material for luxury and home dÊcor. The ceramic ware is covered with several thin layers of colored glaze to resemble natural stone. Marble dinnerware blends bold design with modern functionality. DEEP O CEAN M UGS Deep Ocean Mugs are made from a type of porcelain called bone china. The word “porcelain” derives from the Latin word “porcella”, meaning “seashell”, which inspired FOLKE’s designers to create a line of mugs beautifully embellished with raised seashell and ocean creatures, giving the surface a three dimensional texture.
D E E P O C EAN Mugs Bone china characteristics Bone china used for Deep Ocean Mugs is made from kaolin, feldspar, quartz and bone ash (16%). Bone china is the strongest of the china ceramics with the highest levels of whiteness and translucency. Its high strength allows it to be produced in thinner cross-sections than other types of porcelain. Bone china offers an elegant appeal due to the lighter weight, smother texture and body composition. It’s typically more expensive than porcelain due to its manufacturing process and overall sophisticated perception.
