Nordic Outdoor Design Panel

Nordic Outdoor Design Panel

The Nordic Outdoor Design Panel is the perfect choice for covered outdoor areas where you want to combine aesthetics, functionality, and durability. The panel is made with ThermoWood slats mounted on a polyester felt backing that resists moisture.

This construction makes the panel suitable for outdoor use under eaves, such as covered terraces, carports, and entranceways. The panel is not suited for direct exposure to driving rain, ensuring long-lasting performance and a consistently attractive appearance.

Installation Guide

The Nordic Outdoor Design Panel is designed for a long-lasting façade with a beautiful and consistent look.

Requirements for substrate and construction

• The substrate must be flat and stable.

• A windproof membrane (e.g., building wrap) must be installed on the substrate.

• Use pressure-treated timber battens (45 x 45 mm (1 3/4” x 1 3/4”)/ 45 x 90 mm (1 3/4” x 3 9/16”)).

• Batten spacing: Max. C/C 600 mm (23 5/8”).

• A ventilated construction with an air gap behind the panels is required.

Fastening

• Panels are installed with the felt-covered side facing the batten system.

• Use a minimum of 15 Nordic Outdoor PRO façade screws per panel (Ø4.0 x 30 mm).

Step-by-step installation

1. Preparation: Ensure a flat and stable wall. Install the windproof membrane.

2. Installbattens:Useappropriatetimberbattenswith correct spacing.

3. Attach panels: Mount panels using Nordic Outdoor PRO façade screws.

Finishing and inspection

• Check the installation.

• If in doubt about installation or local conditions, professional advice is recommended.

Adjusting the panels

If the panels need to be cut to width or length, we recommend using a jigsaw or circular saw.

Maintenance Guide

To ensure that the Nordic Outdoor Design Panel retains its beautiful appearance and long lifespan, regular maintenance is recommended. Thermally treated wood generally requires less maintenance than untreated wood, but external factors such as weather exposure, sun, and moisture can affect the wood surface over time.

Regular inspection of exterior wood surfaces

A routine inspection of the wood is good practice – especially in areas near the ground, at joints, and where airflow is limited.

Regular cleaning with wood cleaner

To remove dirt and algae, it is recommended to clean the panels with lukewarm water and a mild soap solution. Use a soft brush or cloth to avoid damaging the surface. The use of a high-pressure washer is not recommended, as it may damage the wood structure and force moisture into the material.

Surface treatment

Over time, the wood will naturally develop a silvergrey patina – a natural process. If you want to preserve the original colour expression, the wood can be treated with an exterior pigmented wood oil or wood preservative that protects against UV rays and reduces discolouration. Before applying any surface treatment, check the wood’s moisture content to ensure optimal absorption.

Depending on exposure to sun and rain, re-treatment may be needed every year or every second year. If the wood is used in particularly exposed areas, more frequent maintenance can help extend the product’s lifespan and maintain its aesthetic appeal.

Over time, the wood will naturally develop a silver-grey patina – a completely natural process. If the original colour expression is to be preserved, the wood can be treated with a pigmented exterior wood oil or wood preservative.

Fog & Venø is a leading Danish manufacturer of acoustic and decorative panels with and without acoustic properties. These products are designed and manufactured with a focus on Danish craftsmanship and a constant pursuit of high quality. The panels are suitable for installation on both walls and ceilings.

Fog & Venø has a strategic partnership with world-leading suppliers of materials such as wood veneer, linoleum, foil, and laminate, ensuring that all Fog & Venø products maintain a high standard and a wide range of options. This means that there is constantly reverberation in the room, and this is where our acoustic panels make a big difference.

Our Danish-produced acoustic panels break the sound and absorb the sound wave, so it dies out when it hits the panels. This means that the sound wave is eliminated and the reverberation time is shortened, which will improve the indoor climate and the feeling of well-being in the room, whether it is private, commercial, or public buildings we are talking about.
