Fervent, Ferocious Fashion by Dan Myricks

Exemplifying avant-garde from ferocious latex and vinyl contrasted with typical plaid, Mischka Velasco’s September 2013 NY Fashion Week collection was astonishing. So cutting edge and very outrageous. "Harmless Sociopaths" evokes a feeling of a struggle for balance between the uptown somewhat snooty crowd at the opera and the downtown cool crowd at an indie show. You definitely will be the talk of the town if you dress like the more extreme versions of Mischka Velasco. The over-the-top designs rather focus on the androgynous, genderless neutral using unique geometric shapes, turning an otherwise ordinary formal outfit into a chic and modern very edgy runway ensemble. Her gowns execute her razor sharp vision for detail and flair for working with different fabrics. "I love the contrast of creating a feminine soft gown in chiffon and interspersing it with an androgynous metal detail. I create something totally unique and different yet wearable." says Mischka Velasco, founder and designer of www.mischkavelasco.com. 80 FOCUS of New York 2014
