I
was always fascinated with the RSL and social clubs when I arrived way back then. It wasn’t the poker machines that impressed me; it was the opportunities that were available to people who probably might spend too much time alone at home. We have dined at the Sawtell RSL a few times just recently, something we haven’t done in years! Every night we watched different groups arrive to enjoy darts, snooker, cards, bingo and a dancing club (with more energy than me!) swirl around the dance floor to the sounds of an Elvis impersonater. With all these opportunities and the fabulous weather … What an amazing place the Coffs Coast is to live … How lucky are we! Creating new opportunities is part of what FOCUS is all about. I am proud of and love being part of the FOCUS team. We recently just launched one our social events, which was the Men in Business get together staged at the Coast Hotel in Coffs Harbour. This is the first of many, and this evening had close to fifty FOCUS guests enjoy some down time after work. Along with a few laughs, a touch of networking, attendees enjoyed a couple of drinks and some delicious finger food. The next one will be the Women in Business Social Event. We will keep you posted … Watch this space! Lots of fun was had at the races just recently, with the Sawtell Cup and of course, the big one,

Socialising is good for us, and reading about others enjoying themselves and how they spend their leisure time hopefully encourages people to try something new and results in making new friends.
being our super popular Coffs Harbour Golf Cup. The Gold Cup sees numbers up in the thousands (over 6,500 attendees) travel here to enjoy the racing event. Mother Nature smiled, with the weather being glorious, which just made the day more enjoyable. With Le Dãin Designs being one of the major sponsors, we had tables up in the corporate area, and as usual the food was delicious. A few flutters were made, and few wins were had! Just enough to have a bit of fun and keep us entertained. There was, of course, the Park Beach Fashions on the Field, and the competition was high. The ladies looked stunning and the gentlemen looked dapper, making it extremely difficult for the judges to make their choice. I definitely wouldn’t want the job of being on the panel … Too hard to make the final choices! Sashes were won and the races were exciting, making it another successful event. FOCUS had its own super fabulous maquee, where I hear lots of fun was had by one and all! The next race days to look forward to are the Coffs Harbour Melbourne Cup Race Day and in December the new Le Dãin Designs Summer Cup, which falls just before New Year’s Eve. It sounds ridiculous, but lots of businesses are planning their Christmas parties and The Summer Cup Race day has fabulous luncheon packages, so this event could be the ideal staff Christmas party or early New Year’s Eve
event. Book early, if it’s anything like last year! For bookings, call 6652 1488. The Coffs Harbour Chamber of Commerce 2017 Sunny Awards were staged at the C.ex Coffs Harbour just recently, and as per usual the night had event guests enjoy delicious food, entertainment and the excitement of joining local business owners celebrate the achievements, both individual and collective, of the Coffs Harbour business community. Some of the night’s award winners, to name but a few, were Total Gardens and Landscape Supplies and Moonee Beach Tavern, who were dual winners, and both businesses were presented with “Business of the Year Awards”. DFM Financial won the “Excellence in Business” award, and the “Special Judges’ Award” went to Marion Atcheson from Dreamtime Day Spa.
Nidhi and renowned Australian chef Christine Mansfield, Indian Bhangra, and Gidha Dancing. As usual, you will be able to peruse the tempting market stalls and experience the delicious dishes the Curryfest has to offer. The event is on Saturday 30th September, so save the date.
We attended the 29th Rotary Cartoon Awards Night just recently. The Bunker Cartoon Gallery was packed to the max, and guests enjoyed the fun and entertainment of the night. The MC for the evening was Cardigan Comics Cartoonist Bernard Caleo, who never fails to entertain the crowd. Musical entertainment was provided by “Face of the Moon”. Another great night out at the Coffs Harbour Bunker Cartoon Gallery.
The Stars of the Coffs Coast Dance for Cancer Event is on the horizon. This brings along a string of pre fundraising events, which the stars are involved with before the big night. A lot of hard work goes into these events, and the stars have to fit their dancing practise in between. Trudy and Andrew Thomson will be holding one of their fundraisers at the beautiful picturesque Two Tails Winery on 24th September. The event is called “The Picnic in the Vines”, and I definitely think this will include delicious dishes. The tickets will be available next week via sticky tickets. Another of these fundraising events to look forward to is the Cocktail Evening at SUPPLY for Adelaide and Daniel. The date to save is Friday 1st September, and it’s set to be a fun filled event. The ticket price is $35, which includes a complimentary drink, tickets for lucky door prizes, canapés and live entertainment. So dress yourselves up and come and have some fun! Tickets available through sticky tickets.
A colourful and vibrant event to look forward to is the ever popular Curryfest Woolgoolga. The “Cooking Zone” includes MasterChef 2016’s
