Best Kept Secrets

Quadrant Travel & Journeys Local tour company Quadrant Australia is offering FOCUS readers the chance to travel on our Farmers Tour of Italy in 2017. With more than 30 years’ experience taking travellers around the world, their tour is a unique opportunity for travellers looking for something a little different. You will get the chance to savour the cultural highlights, the regional produce and culinary delights of Italy, whilst at the same time gain an appreciation of the country’s agriculture. Italy has more UNESCO World Heritage sites than any other country and the tour will visit many, including Pompeii and the Trulli of Alberobello and a number in southern Italy off the beaten tourist trail.

Singapore Highlights WHETHER IT’S SLURPING ON NOODLES, WATCHING THE POLAR BEAR SWIM AT THE ZOO OR GOING ROUND IN CIRCLES ON THE SINGAPORE FLYER, SINGAPORE HAS SOMETHING FOR EVERYONE. WE ASKED OUR TRAVEL WRITER, KERRY MOSS, TO TELL US HER TOP THINGS TO DO IN SINGAPORE. HERE’S WHAT SHE TOLD US.

arina Bay Sands: Think Vegas meets luxury resort, and you’ll be halfway there. Marina Bay Sands is extravagance beyond belief. Three towers of 57 stories, with an infinity pool perched on top of the towers shaped like a boat. The resort is only half the story, with a luxury shopping centre so large, that there are gondola rides inside the centre in the indoor canal. Gardens by The Bay and Botanic Gardens Singapore is home to some of the most spectacular gardens in the world. Gardens by the Bay are 101 hectares of green space in the heart of the city. With tree shaped vertical gardens up to 16 storeys tall linked by a suspension walkway, the bird’s eye view of the gardens is spectacular. But the beauty doesn’t stop there; the cloud forest has the world’s tallest indoor waterfall, where you’ll find plant life from tropical highlands up to 2,000 metres above sea level. More traditionally, Singapore’s Botanic Gardens are home to the National Orchid Garden, home to 60,000 orchid plants. Singapore Zoo and the night safari Said to be one of the best zoos in the world, Singapore’s zoo is a beautiful award winning wildlife park where animals can roam freely in their natural habitats. With some excellent animal experiences such as Breakfast with the Orangutans, it’s a unique way to spend the 48 coffs coast focus.

day. If night time wildlife viewing is more interesting to you, then join the world’s first wildlife night park, where visitors ride the night safari tram across seven geographical zones of the world. For a lucky few there is a chance to enjoy a three course gourmet dinner under the stars with the sounds and sights of the animals in the background. Eat Streets - Little India and Chinatown Little India is a buzzing historic district that showcases the best of Singapore’s Indian community. Whether it’s culture or food that you are after, Little India has it all. Chinatown is an eclectic mix of old and new, with traditional shops and marketplaces next door to high-rise shopping centres. Regardless, the food is an absolute highlight and should not be missed on a visit to Singapore. Sentosa and Universal Studios Sentosa is a resort island located within the city of Singapore. With its man-made beaches and thrill-seeking theme parks, it’s not for everyone, but it does offer excellent activities for children. With an entrance by cable car and home to an aquarium, a water park and Universal Studios, a day at Sentosa is action-packed. The team at Quadrant Australia are fully trained and experienced with all aspects of travel. They are located in Vernon St, Coffs Harbour, and they’ll be happy to assist you with your travel plans.

For the very first time, Quadrant will be offering the chance to extend the tour with an optional Mediterranean Cruise. This tour takes in much of the Med’s rich cultural heritage and best loved sights.

Some of the incredible highlights of the tour include Rome, Naples, Florence and the romantic city of Venice. There will be authentic farm visits to olive groves and vineyards, plus sheep, buffalo and donkey milk operations to see how cheese is made.
