don’t think it’s a bad thing, as there is so much of a build up to the arrival of good old Santa and of Christmas itself, that it seems a shame to have it only last for one day! So let’s rejoice and be merry and indulge ourselves and stretch those festivities out! The race that stops the nation was celebrated everywhere, and Coffs Harbour Racing Club was all over it. A bright summer’s day brought a flood of excited race goers to the club, all dressed in up and ready to enjoy a day of fun, a flutter or two and a touch of fashion. It was a really hot and humid day, so we definitely enjoyed being in the air-conditioned comfort of the Corporate Lounge. “The Husband” is turning into a bit of a socialite; he suited up to attend the day and came with us to have some fun. The women always definitely outnumber the men on our tables, but he didn’t seem to mind one bit ... ha ha! Staying with Melbourne Cup, guests were in high spirits at the Melbourne Cup lunch at the Cedar Bar and Kitchen on the day. To begin the day they relaxed and enjoyed a scrumptious four course luncheon feast in beautiful Bellingen. With over 50 attendees all dressed to impress, the Fashions on the Field Competition was hotly contested, with local lady Nadira 48 coffs coast focus.

CHRISTMAS IS ON ITS WAY, AND FESTIVE CELEBRATIONS ARE IN FULL SWING! LET’S FACE IT - SOME START CELEBRATING REALLY EARLY, AND WE HAVE BECOME ONE OF THAT “MERRY BAND”!

Perara taking out the Best Dressed and Tanya McManus winning Best Millinery. Lots of fun ... great day out! Sawtell Cinema is a hive of activity since it was restored and reopened. The quaintness and ambience of the cinema lures movie goers in, and it is a great venue for many charity events and fundraisers - one of those events being the premier screening of the fabulous movie The Light Between Ocean. The film was based on the book written by author M. L. Stedman, which sold over two million copies! The night was presented by The Friends of South Solitary Island, Cando Cancer Trust and Majestic Cinemas. Guests enjoyed a drink or two at the bar, before enjoying the movie, and there were raffles on the night to support the cause. All profits went to CANDO Cancer Trust. The Beros family are big motor and rally fans, so having the rally so very close is ridiculously exciting! “The Husband” has been a Rally Australia Official since the start, and this is his fouth year. We joined Andrew Fraser on his table to join in one of the exciting events that leads up to the Rally . The FOCUS team had a table as well , so there was no way I was going to miss out ! The event was the Rally championship Drivers BReakfast and was staged at the beautiful ocean Front Aanuka

Beach Resort. Exciting times . I attended another sensational art exhibition opening at the Sawtell Art Group Inc. Gallery and school just recently. There have been more renovations going on at the gallery, and the space is looking wonderful. The Coffs Coast has it all and I say it time and time again, we are spoilt for choice when it comes to the art show opportunities we have in this area! This was an exciting new show by regional artist Geoff Mould. The exhibition was called The Ancient Mariner and was nothing short of amazing. Guests enjoyed a bubbles or two, along with some delicious canapés, whilst enjoying the artwork showcased on the night. The exhibition runs until 20th November 2016. I had the pleasure of providing some beautiful clothes from Le Dãin Designs for two shoots just recently, one being for a shoot at Opal Cove Resort. It was lights, camera and action, as models and media relaxed poolside for a new commercial. Cocktails and kaftans were the flavour of the day, as everyone enjoyed lunch over the gorgeous beachfront resort. The second was staged at the fabulous Vast Interior’s furniture shop. The Coffs Coast FOCUS Front Cover Team was all ready to style and shoot the fab front cover you see for this edition. I love this part of my job with FOCUS,

and I adore Christmas, so this was just fun … fun ... fun! The Pink Silks Trust held their first Ladies and Tradies Night at the Hoey Moey just recently. The night was an amazing success, raising over $25,000 to be used for the Palliative Care Unit at the Coffs Harbour Health Campus. There was a fabulous party atmosphere, with over 150 guests, live music, raffles and live auctions. There were more than 40 businesses supporting the night. On arrival, every lady received a lovely pink gift bag. The night started with four Coffs Comet players to be auctioned off, which revved up the fun atmosphere. After enjoying delicious dishes, there was a whole lot of dancing going on to The Funk Thieves. There was also a unique Tradie Auction of labour and products to raise money for the charity. Chairperson Tanya Johnson mentioned that there was terrific support from the Hoey Moey and all the night’s supporters and guests. I hear this will be part of the annual events calendar. The festive season is all about spending time with loved ones, sending love to those who can’t be close and having fun. Here is wishing you all a very happy Christmas. Carole, Le Dãin Designs
