CHAPTER ONE
The Project
Okay class today you will be assigned a topic to create a creative and informative presentation on people or events in World War II that are rarely discussed in world history books. Your topics are already assigned, please see google classroom for your topic and the rubric.
Mia! You will be doing your project on the female agents in the SOE during World War Two, this is a challenging topic, so I expect you to do extensive research on the topic.
Mr. Graves, I know this is an important topic, but maybe someone else should do it? I have never even heard about this topic before and I think there is something more important that I could research about.
Mia, I know this is a sore subject for you, but I believe that you can do this.
Mr. Graves: Students! I want to remind you that you have to keep track of your progress in your journals, this journal will not be due, but I will check it everyday to make sure you wrote something. Class dismissed!
September 25, 2024 -- Today is the first day of the World History World War II project. I was tasked with creating a slideshow about famous spies in the SOE f-section. I think I am going to research Josephine Baker, Virginia Hall, Violette Szabo, and Noor Inayat Khan. I don't really have much information on them but I think that this project can go smoothly.
Ugh! I don’t even see the point in this project, it isn’t going to be beneficial for me in the long run so why was I tasked with this. Mr. Graves just assigned this topic to me since I did well on the last project.
What is happening? Is this an earthquake or construction?? What is going on, there hasn’t been earthquakes in this city for years!

CHAPTER TWO The Approach
Mia: Huh, what happened? Why am I on a metro? Why am I in these odd clothes?
Mia: Am I in Paris? Is this during the Nazi occupation? Why do I still have my journal with me?

Miss I was wondering, I saw your tag and it says you are looking for a job right? Can you come with me to this office, I have a job for you that I think would fit you very well. You speak English and French, correct?

Passenger: Great! Just wait and see, we have been trying to recruit you for weeks and this is the first time we have been able to catch you!

Entry 02.
September 23, 1943 I am almost done with my training, Vera says that I am almost ready to start going on missions. This combat training has been hard and I truly don’t see the point of it. Vera says I “should give up ” because I would be remembered as “ one of the greats” but I don’t even think I would be remembered. I don’t even know any notable female spies except the ones I have researched and I am not even a real person in this timeline. I’m a glitch!

October 9th, 1943
Hello it is nice to meet you, I am Mia, codename Sora.
Hello my name is Noor, codename Madeline . All of my fellow operatives have been captured and I am the only radio operator in Paris. You will be helping me gather and transmit information to London.
Mia: Why aren’t we going back to headquarters? Shouldn't we be there instead, in a safe location?
Noor: It is our duty to stay here. Without our efforts, Paris will be in Nazi rule forever, then we will never be free.

October 17, 1943 — I am losing my will to keep fighting. I am cold and alone and it seems like I have been on this train for days. I wonder where I am going and what is going to happen to me. I wonder why anybody would risk their life for something like this. We should have left when the SOE called us back. Why did I decide to stay?...

CHAPTER FOUR Josephine
Where am I, how did I get to this new place…. Did I time travel again?
Juliette you finally woke up! The train is almost about to stop.
Mia: What day is it? What is our mission today?
Mia : Juliette? I thought my codename was Sora?
How funny, it is February 13, 1944! Why do you look like you have seen a ghost all the sudden!
I just had a bad dream. Back to the mission, where are we going?
We are heading back to Paris for my Valentines day show! There will be SS soldiers crawling all over the place so make sure to use the sheet music to note down any strange movements in the crowd okay?

Entry 04.
February 25, 1944 I have been working with Josephine for 12 days at this point. Recently, an SS officer approached me and I was so terrified, I couldn’t even move. Why am I so afraid of everything? I keep time traveling to random dates and random places that I have never been to or seen. One day I am in London, the next day I am in Paris.. What’s the point of all of this? When will my nightmare finally end? I hope tomorrow I can redeem myself and make Josephine proud.

Mia: Are you kidding me! I time traveled again!
Where am I? This doesn’t even look like Paris. It looks like a safehouse.
May it is time, we have to go monitor the Nazi’s radio signals. We are getting closer and closer to developing a plan to liberate France! Get on the radio and try to connect with other agents in the area.
Mia (on the radio): Over, Over, the date is March 18, 1944, this is section F with Virginia Hall. We need updates, over No updates for now, over.
CHAPTER FIVE
March 20, 1944
Entry 05.
As of today I am on my last week of being on Virginas mission, we have a plan to liberate France called “Operation Overlord” I think they are referring to D-day and soon enough, I think we will be ready to strike on the beaches of Normandy. We will be arriving in France tomorrow to inform the resistance about the German operations in France. I don’t know why, but working with Virginia has shown me the importance of all of this. She has told me her story, taught me how to use things in nature if I ever needed it, and showed me another way to use the radio. This is my first experience that hasn’t ended in complete tragedy and I feel like I am a bit braver because of it. If someone told me a month ago that I would be a spy, I would have laughed in their face. Now I am here, alone, fending for myself with no parents around.

April 20, 1944 — It had been three days since I finished Virginia's mission. In the end, we blew up Nazi carrier trains and derailed a resource ship, causing it to land in France and not Germany. I am starting to have some doubts about my decisions so far. I have gotten to write a lot about the people I am researching about, but I am wondering if I'll ever make it back home, it seems like I am in an endless loop of battles and missions.
Mia: No please don’t tell me I have gone in a time loop and I am back to my training.
April20,1944
Mia: Oh it is April 20, 1944. I think I am supposed to head to the headquarters today. Maybe this will be the mission that finally sets me free!
Mia your next mission is with Violet Szabo or Louise, a rookie just like you!
Your codename is Elise and you will be a courier to Philippe Liewer. His resistance network recently got uncovered by the Gestapo, so it is your job to try and reestablish contact with other members of the network.
Mia, based on your history and track record, you will be the main agent on this case. You will be teaching Violette some of the ropes!
What experience, I have been in four different timelines already..
No! Vera I can’t I barely have any experience and I am too afraid, why can’t I go back to a low risk position back in London?

I got a signal over an hour ago! I can’t wait anymore! I’m going to try and go outside to investigate, nobody but Violette is available anymore.

CHAPTER SEVEN
The Return
September 30, 2024
Oh my god! Mia you ’ re finally awake! Dr. Jones come quick!
This is a miracle, we thought you would never wake up!
What happened? How long was I out?
Five days! You hit your head pretty hard during that earthquake. We were losing hope but you finally woke up!
Lets order some tests to see your vitals, I’m glad you are awake!
So Mia, what did you see while you were out?
It was crazy! I traveled back in time and went on these crazy adventures as a spy, it was so scary, but at the same time so cool!
Haha, well it was just a dream.

I can’t believe this! I wrote it all down for my project, now it’s all gone

Mia’s presentation day
Okay class let's all clap for Mia! She was in a horrible accident and is now ready to do her presentation
Mia: Today I will be discussing my findings on the operations of female spies Virginia Hall, Josephine Baker, Violette Szabo, and Noor Inayat Khan during the 1940s. Josephine was a glamorous star but she was also a smart and cautious spy, using her status to get into Axis power meetings and writing notes on her hands. She also used to put photographs under her dress so the Gestapo wouldn’t find them. Virginia Hall was a strong-willed, upbeat soldier and although she was an amputee, it did not stop her. Virginia was a very intelligent and skilled agent and she was great at radioing back information on German troop movements and military posts, and also at recruiting a network of loyal resistance spies in central France. Violette Szabo, a widow, was small but spunky, she went on multiple life-threatening missions and she was not afraid, she continued to fight for others until her death in 1945.
Finally, the princess Noor Inayat Khan, the first female radio operator to be infiltrated into occupied France. She was the only agent who was not captured and had to do the work of multiple radio operators all by herself. When she eventually was caught, she stood her ground and did not reveal anything to the SS officers, even though it eventually cost her her life. All of this researched showed me how dedication and strong will is all you need to succeed, being afraid is not the answer.
Entry 07.
October 1, 2024 Today is my last diary entry for the time being. A lot happened in these past few days even though it feels like it has been months. My days as an SOE spy are over but I will never forget the lessons I have been taught. Before joining the female spies I thought their roles wouldn’t be that important because they seemed to do easy work, well that was not the case. I was kicked and punched more than I can count in my grueling training, I had to move around to various safe houses, avoid confrontation with the Gestapo and other German soldiers, and I had to switch codenames everytime I went on a mission. Even after all this, the agents I worked with never lost their spirit, they were determined to keep fighting until the end, which is something I will never forget.
