Fredrick A. Davis was born in Deland, Florida on July 11, 1956. He grew up in Ft. Lauderdale. He attended and graduated from the public school system of Broward County, Florida. Pastor Emeritus Davis graduated from Johnson C. Smith University in Charlotte, North Carolina, earning a B.A. Degree (magna cum laude) in Philosophy and Religion. He continued his studies in the area of Philosophy and Theology at the Interdenominational Theological Center at Morehouse School of Religion in Atlanta, Georgia. He graduated with honors in May 1980 with a Master of Divinity Degree in Philosophy. Additionally, Pastor Emeritus Davis holds an Honorary Doctor of Divinity Degree from ITC.
On September 11, 1977, at the New Mount Olive Church in Fort Lauderdale, Florida (under the pastorate of George E. Weaver), Pastor Emeritus Davis was licensed to preach as a Christian
Guest Preacher
Minister and was subsequently ordained by Pastor Weaver in 1981.
Pastor Emeritus Davis has worked in various fields of Ministry; including Campus Minister
Intern, Georgia Tech University, Black Student Fellowship; Youth Minister, Antioch Baptist Church
North, Atlanta, Georgia; Chaplain
Intern - C.P.E., Tuskegee Veterans Administration Medical Center, Tuskegee, Alabama; Former
Instructor, Twin States Extension of the American Baptist College of Nashville, Tennessee, West Point, Georgia; Pastor, St. John Baptist Church, Lanett, Alabama; and Associate Pastor/Administrator, First Missionary Baptist Church, Huntsville, Alabama.
In June 1991, Pastor Emeritus Davis became the Pastor of First Calvary Baptist Church. He served faithfully for 31 years and was elevated to Pastor Emeritus in 2022. With a heart for the community, First Calvary serves the local area in various ways, including a Food Pantry, clothing giveaway, dental clinics, health fairs, etc. In 1992, in order to address challenges facing the West End Community, Pastor Emeritus Davis formed a nonprofit organization, The West End Community Foundation, Inc.
The Foundation was conceived through a vision birthed out of First Calvary Baptist Church.
Pastor Davis serves as the organization’s Chairman.
Pastor Emeritus Davis was the Baccalaureate Speaker for the Graduation Ceremonies of`Johnson C. Smith University in May 2010. In 2011, Pastor Davis gave the Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. address in Holly Springs, North Carolina. He is a former National Alumni President for Morehouse School of Religion in Atlanta, Georgia and is also a former member and former Chairman of the Board at the Institution. Additionally, he served fours as Chaplain for the National Alumni Association for Johnson C. Smith University. Pastor Emeritus serves on the National Ministers Council of ABC USA and American Baptist Churches of The South. He is affiliated with the National Baptist Convention, USA, Inc., and its auxiliaries, the General Baptist State Convention of North Carolina. He is a member of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity and Senior Games Gold Medalist in Table Tennis.
Pastor Emeritus Fredrick A. Davis is married to Judith Hayes Davis, and they have three sons, Fredrick Amos II, Jordan Emmanuel and John Daniel; 2 daughters-in-love, Josephine and Kristel; 4 grandsons, Fredrick III, Lincoln, Karson, and Kane; and 2 granddaughters, Ellington and Kodie.
