The following is a quick overview of CanCham Thailand’s major and recurring events. Our chamber maintains a full events schedule that is competitive with many of thailand’s larger foreign chambers of commerce. In addition to its own functions, CanCham supports the Canadian community, the Embassy of Canada and other foreign chamber events as it strives to offer its members with a broad range of business and social networking opportunities.

Canada Day 2020 - Block Party August 8, 2020 the british club

Due to the global pandemic, cancham thailand celebrated canada’s 153rd birthday later than usual this year on Saturday August 8th at Bangkok’s British Club. Many people had been cooped up inside for weeks on end because of coViD-19 restrictions and this was a chance to rejoice and celebrate a block party with a variety of beverages on tap including canadian beer, bloody Caesars, and fresh wine. These were offered up alongside food vendors, who served up a variety of tasty dishes, including canadian bbQ, poutine, and Nanaimo bars. As usual, people gathered for a range of games and activities, including ball hockey, while kids enjoyed the bouncy castle, face painting, games and a magician. Live music and a DJ entertained the attendees and to close out the night Dr. Sarah Taylor, Canada’s Ambassador to Thailand, cut the official Canada Day cake.

the most anticipated event of the year – the annual Maple Leaf ball Gala Dinner - was held at the Hyatt Regency Bangkok Sukhumvit. This is CanCham Thailand’s highest profile event of the year, with over 250 members, colleagues, business acquaintances, diplomats and influential guests in attendance, bringing together our diverse international community. the Maple Leaf ball is a formal gala dinner event, with a fun and different theme each year. This year, guests danced to the glitz and glam of DISCO NIGHT as they were transported back to the past to relive the funky disco tunes from the live band and DJ Kinky D. The event included a cocktail reception with free flow of welcome drinks, and a specialized 4-course meal. Participate in the live and silent auctions and buy raffle tickets to win amazing prizes, from luxurious hotels stays, jewelry, and more! this year’s party was located a short walk from the CanCham Thailand office in a beautiful openair venue at the bangkok Marriott Hotel the Surawongse. As restrictions from the pandemic dragged on, this was a rare chance for cancham members to mingle, enjoy each other’s company and hope the New Year would bring an end to the troubles caused by the pandemic. The event featured a live bbQ & carving stations, along with a variety of christmas-themed desserts, not to mention some fantastic lucky draw prizes.

[ONLINE] Annual General Meeting April 21, 2021

the third spike of coViD-19 in thailand forced CanCham Thailand ’s annual AGM to go online for the second year in a row. The AGM as it is an opportunity for all voting members to be updated on the status of the chamber and the canadian community in thailand as well as to elect the new board of Directors who will lead cancham on your behalf over the next 12 months. A new board was elected (listed earlier in this directory) and Derek van Pelt returned as chamber president for a second term.
