How did you get started fly fishing? Most of my childhood was spent outdoors camping and following my dad on hunting and fishing adventures, it was during my young age that he introduced me to fly fishing. Some of my earliest memories are from being out on the lakes trolling flies for trout. It wasn’t until I was 8 having watched my dad cast dries for rising fish, that I was curious to learn how to cast. From that day forward it has been a love affair with fly fishing. Was it an immediate infatuation or did it take some time getting fully hooked? I have always been infatuated with fly fishing and the outdoors ever since I was a kid. I find my love for this sport constantly growing as there are always new experiences and adventures I can peruse each day on the water. What is it about fly fishing that appeals to you? There is a lot about fly fishing that appeals to me! You are always learning and gaining knowledge on every waterway you are fishing. I am always finding new challenges to try and conquer. If there is one thing I love it’s the ability to explore, and enjoy the fun adventures where ever I go to fish. What would you have been doing if you hadn’t gotten into fly fishing? When I wasn’t outside enjoying nature growing up, I was competing or training in high calibre sports. I was an athlete for most of my life so if I hadn’t gotten into fly fishing, then I would be continuing to peruse several sports in hopes of competing on the world stage level. Does fly fishing help you become a better person? Absolutely! Fly fishing helps you become a better person. There are many days and moments on the water that give you opportunity to be humbled. Being on the water you learn to become patient, as well as appreciate everything around you that you may not have taken the time to otherwise acknowledge.
