BENEFITS OF CAMERAS ON BIKES: A REQUEST FOR AN UNSCIENTIFIC SURVEY

In prior articles I have extolled the virtues of having video cameras on your bike, front and rear. I’ve used a combination of Cycliq6 rear camera/light with a front Garmin camera. Recently, I bit the bullet and purchased the newest version of the Cycliq 12 front camera since my Garmin is ancient. I had a bad past experience with the “12” but since the “6” works flawlessly, I thought I’d give the “12” another go.

I’m interested in those of you who read these articles, and use any light version, both day or night when riding providing me examples of how having the lights made you more safe; or, in the alternative, if you feel they were a waste of money, hearing that as well. In a future article, I’ll publish my findings from readers. Please email your thoughts to bch8@verizon.net.

I will say, as a trial attorney frequently representing injured cyclists, the benefit of having a video of the crash has made the difference to my clients of hundred’s of thousands of dollars in recovery. Unfortunately, it’s a sad fact that many many people don’t think twice about lying under oath when they’ve injured a cyclist. The video has helped me keep them honest, especially in cases where there are no independent third party witnesses.

I look forward to your stories, and opinions. I thank you in advance for taking the time to read, and then respond.
