“Once we establish that the problem is pruritus, we take care of it,” Guevara said. “The patient frequently returns saying the itch has resolved. This is extremely gratifying.” There are also cosmetic procedures, such as the injectable delivery of Botox. “The patients say, ‘I feel amazing. Those lines aren’t there anymore. I feel so much younger. I can see better because my eyes are open,’” Guevara said. “That’s the cosmetic aspect of our business.” Keeping up with state-of-the-art treatments in dermatology is very important, Glick said. “Some of the new trends in medical dermatology include treatment options for inflammatory skin diseases, specifically psoriasis,” Glick said. “We provide many available options for our patients, which include newer generation medications, known as biologic therapies. On the cosmetic side, we make sure to meet the needs of our patients, providing all the available, new and minimally invasive procedures.” South Florida Skin & Laser Centers stays current on the latest techniques to carry out procedures, such as fillers, Botox, laser therapies and tightening procedures. “One of the keys in our practice is that we are one of the few providers of the newest minimally invasive procedure, known as the Instalift,” Glick said. “This cosmetic procedure utilizes the newest absorbable sutures to gently lift the facial skin.” With new technology being introduced for skin tightening, Guevara noted how important new lasers and radiofrequency devices are to the practice. “I think a lot of new lasers that are being introduced, featuring new technology for skin tightening and removing sun-damaged skin, are important,” she said. “There’s so much in dermatology. What an amazing specialty.” Guevara particularly enjoys treating patients with pigmentation disturbances (brown spots) and removes these skin lesions with peels and both non-ablative and superficially ablative procedures, such as CO2 fractional laser resurfacing. At South Florida Skin & Laser Centers, Glick and Guevara treat and perform surgery
