Asena Mott, (History), is the new director of the DeSoto Campus of South Florida State College in Avon Park, FL.

Caitlin Hustrulid, (Communication), and Jan-Erik Hustrulid, ‘03 (Computer Information Systems), recently welcomed their daughter, Julianna Linnea. She was 6 pounds, 10 ounces and 19 inches long. They currently reside in Bonita Springs.

Matthew Baker, (Communication), married Claire Murphy in November 2016. Matthew works for Continental Construction and Claire works for Ilme Advertising. They reside in Naples.

Caroline McGuire, (Communication), and her husband, Dennis McGuire, proudly announce the birth of their daughter, Denley Robyn, who was born in August 2016, weighing 8 pounds, 6 ounces and 20.5 inches long. They reside in Stuart, FL.

Jeffrey Estes, (Mathematics), is the new Principal at Bonita Springs High School, which will open to a freshmen-only class in the fall of 2017. The school will be located in a portable campus at Estero High School.

Jan-Erik Hustrulid, (Computer Information Systems), won the News-Press 2016 Young Professional of the Year Award. He is the business development coordinator for Owen-Ames-Kimball Company, serves on local boards, and sells realestate. He currently resides in Bonita Springs.

James Schilmmer, (Marketing), created a card game call Rehab, to help couples communicate more. He is also the vice president of real estate at Cottrell Title & Escrow and resides in Naples.

Kristopher Scheppe, (Environmental Studies), was featured with his Blind Match Racing Team on CNN’s Great Big Story, a documentary done before the 2016 Blind Match Racing World Championship in Sheboygan, WI. His team won the bronze medal. He resides in Fort Myers.

Darren Davis, (Communication), was elected vice president of the Golf Course Superintendents Association of America. He also is the golf course superintendent at Olde Florida Golf Club in Naples.

Melissa Cofta, (Master’s, Business Administration), recently became a member of the News-Press Young Professionals Advisory Board. She is the marketing and public relations account manager for Priority Marketing. She resides in Fort Myers. Phyllis Cummins, (Master’s, Health Science), was named Researcher of the Year by Ohio Association of Gerontology and Education. The award recognizes individuals in Ohio’s aging network whose research has improved services, advanced knowledge, or supported the expansion of research in the field of gerontology in Ohio or nationally. Rachel Forbes, (Marine Science), became the new education programs manager at the Naples Zoo.

Madison Mitchell, (Communication), recently became a member of the News-Press Editorial Board. She is the community resource manager of United Way of Lee, Hendry, Glades and Okeechobee counties.

Kevin Karnes, (Legal Studies), became a member of the News-Press Editorial Board. He is the operational support manager for the Lee County Clerk of Court and the president of Southwest Florida Young Republicans.

Laura Layton, (Special Education), is teaching English and life skills in Panama City, Panama for the Peace Corps. Her volunteer work will change and benefit many lives over the next 2 years.

Tyler Cole, (Communication), co-founded Tunnel Light Pictures, and has since directed several short films, music videos, and commercials. “The Promise” will be Cole’s first feature film directorial debut. He resides in Los Angeles, CA. Steven Schultz, (Civil Engineering), joined the firm of NOVA Engineering and Environmental as a construction materials testing business unit manager. He resides in Marco Island. Rosa Gamez, (Criminal Justice Studies), recently became a member of the News-Press Young Professionals Advisory Board. She is the senior admissions cousnelor at Keiser University. She resides in Lehigh Acres.

He resides in Fort Myers. Nicholas Cid, (Marketing), and his group won Best Master’s Student Paper Award for their paper titled “Sucessfully Entering the Emerging Market of Brazil: A Legitimacy Perspective” at the Academy of International Business US Southeast Annual Conference. He resides in Fort Myers. Alan Gaunt, (Finance), was recently hired as the director of data & analytics at DeAngelis Diamond. He resides in Naples, FL.

Sean Tingler, (Master’s, Business Administration), attained the Certified Internet Recruiter designation through AIRS. The certification will allow him to work more effectively with local employers to uncover the best job candidates for available positions. He is employed by Career Source Suncoast as a talent consultant, and resides in Venice, FL. Brooke Spencer, (Communication), is employed at Baldwin Krystyn Sherman Partners as benefits analyst. She is currently enrolled in the Master’s of Public Administration program at FGCU, and resides in Bonita Springs. Nicola Varveris, (Master’s, Business Administration), was presented with the University of St. Augustine for Health Sciences’ Patricia King Alumni Award which is presented to outstanding alumni for their commitment to professional development and achievement. She resides in Naples.

Jason Hoop, (Biotechnology), and his group won Best Master’s Student Paper Award for their paper titled “Successfully Entering the Emerging Market of Brazil: A Legitimacy Perspective” at the Academy of International Business US Southeast Annual Conference. He resides in Fort Myers. Georiga Price, (Communication), was invited by Engalnd’s national golf team for a trial week due to her tremendous success in her golfing career. For her England debut she competed in the 62nd Harder Hall Invitational in Sebring, FL.

Samantha Williams, (Master’s, Social Work), was recently hired by Naple Community Hospital downtown where she will be able to pursue her passion of Social Work. She has worked at Florida Gulf Coast University for the past 10 years and resides in Fort Myers.

Rosa Gamez, (Criminal Justice Studies), recently became a member of the News-Press Young Professionals Advisory Board. She is the senior admissions cousnelor at Keiser University. She resides in Lehigh Acres. Breanne Hastings, (Anthropology), is the museum coordinator with the Cape Coral Historical Society Museum. She adds a vitality to the museum that relfects her enthusiam for the unconventional history of Cape Coral. Wesley Davis, (Accounting), is a financial representative for Norhtwestern Mutual: The Glenn Black Group and has accomplished a huge milestoe in the first 6 months of his career called Pacesetter 40. Pacesetter 40 honors financial security during their first six months in the business through the issuance of life insurance policies. He resides in Naples.
