Arthus and Nico: X-Rated Blogging Done Right interview by

Grant James | photos by Jorge Freire

Arthus and Nico are one of the hottest French couples on the internet right now. Their videos have millions of views on XTube, they run a popular blog in France; they even have their own underwear line. On the heels of the legalization of gay marriage in France, Nico and Arthus took time out of their busy schedule to sit down and speak with us about their blog, their underwear line and what the future holds for the wildly fun couple. What was the catalyst to this blog? What caused you to create such a wild, raw thing? Arthus and Nico: It all started with our first photoshoot eight years ago. The photos were supposed to be just for us. But one thing lead to another. In this particular case, it was one piece of clothing after the other, and we ended up naked and horny, so we decided to take a video. I (Nico) have never felt confident in my own skin and for the first time, I was ok with my image. I guess it was a big part of my decision to share the content online. The other big reason was that it was just exciting to do something so unusual that we never thought we would ever do. Within the first two years we added many videos and photos. Over the years, we decided to add many other things in our blog so that it would be more about gay culture and not only just us. We only do one or two actual sex tapes per year now. We do way more instant photos like Arthus flashing his abs at Publix or Target. Our thing is more about making “sexy” something fun. What’s your favorite thing about doing the blog? AN: Arthus loves to follow all the fashion trends and thanks to the blog, he can spend hours reading articles about that. It’s not being lazy, it’s working! We also like the possibility of sharing our thoughts on any subject. We don’t like censorship at all. When you’re taking those scandy pictures, what are you listening to? AN: We are really into pop culture. We love big voices like Mariah Carey or Jennifer Hudson, and loads of R&B singers like Tamia, Ciara or Melanie Fiona, but usually when taking

18

guymag.net

theguymag

theguymag

pics it’s more of a fun moment. So it would be songs like “Blow” from Ke$ha or some of Rihanna’s stuff. Right now, it’s totally cheesy but we are obsessed with the final song from The Bellas in “Pitch Perfect”. How much more gay can we be? Be honest, who’s the real top? Arthur: You can see that on our xtube account, Arthus topping Nico has been seen millions of times -- it’s crazy, and it’s the truth. We are both versatile but Nico is the bottom 80% of the time. Favorite position? Nico: Laying down on the bed, on my chest, with Arthus on top of me, working his magic. You take a lot of nude photos in public. Have you guys ever literally been caught with your pants down? AN: Never in a straight aera. It did happen in a gay nudist beach in France. One time the guy even helped us film. We have to know. Do your parents know about this blog? My mother would die. AN: No they don’t. Nico’s father saw it like seven years ago and it was pretty harsh. We stopped it for a while. They just know that we have sexy pictures online, not sexual pictures. What mother doesn’t know can’t hurt her, right? Speaking of family, what do you have to say about all of the commotion over in France? Are you guys going to get married? AN: It’s been crazy. That was not a good period in France -- full of hatred. What surprised us the most is that it was on both sides. We totally expected the conservative and very Catholic people to be against this law. We remember how it was in 1999 for the civil union, but we didn’t expect that they would be...so well organized. We didn’t expect so many in the streets, and we didn’t expect the gay community to fight back with so much hatred. We hoped instead that they would take the high road to show that same sex marriage was a love thing, not a bitter thing. Both sides were very judgemental and discriminating. I

guymagtube

totally get that it’s out of frustration, sadness and rejection for the gay community. So we hope that things will settle down in France. We hope that this giant step forward will help homosexuality to be more accepted by French people and that it will set an example for other countries as well. We are very lucky and proud to be in one of the 14 countries that allow gay marriage, but so many countries are still punishing homosexuality. We need to lead the way. We will get married later on. Work is just so crazy right now and we want time to really plan and enjoy our wedding. It’s a new, big right that took ages to be legalized. We don’t want to waste the experience by rushing into it. It will be a very big step in our personal life. Agreed. Hopefully America will be next. I understand you guys have your own sexy underwear line as well. I mean if anyone should have a sexy underwear line, it should be you guys. But was that always the plan, or was it a little bit unexpected? AN: If you would have asked us eight years ago if we wanted to have our own brand, we would have probably said no. We started our online men’s underwear store about seven years ago. The idea of maybe doing a line appeared about three years ago, but we thought it would happen years later. We startetd to work on our first sketches in spring of 2011. We still can’t believe that we have designed our own line and that after a short year it’s already been sold in France, Germany, Australia and the US. It seems like just yesterday when Nico was handstitching samples at 1 a.m. to send them back to the factory (after his long day’s work no less). Where do you see yourselves next? In 10 years? What are your end goals? AN: That’s a tough question. We will launch our second brand at Gay Days in Orlando. We don’t know how it will be received yet. And then, we want our brand to get bigger than our online retail in France. It will be even more exciting and challenging! We have so many ideas and we get to travel the world for our

guymag.net

brand; it’s amazing. In 10 years, we hope to have two kids, a home in France and in the US and of course, to be the reigning kings of sexy underwear worldwide. The reigning married kings of course! Okay, it’s time to bring it home. It’s time for the most important question of 2013: who’s your favorite trainwreck? Lindsay Lohan or Amanda Bynes? AN: I would say Lindsay Lohan because I really feel sorry for Amanda Bynes. We loved her in “What I Like About You.” It aired every Saturday morning in France and we used to watch it. We must admit that the video she took of her on her “sour patch kid” was on another level. We’re not sure Lindsay can ever touch that.

The “Trocks” Are Coming, The “Trocks” Are Coming o“Les Ballets Trockadero de Monte Carlo” (try saying that one time fast), dances a fine line between art and humor. The troupe of manly dancers, known as “Trocks,” bring fantastic flexibility, flamboyant gestures, and impressive moves to the stage this Thursday for all of your hungry eyes to see. The troupe parodies classical ballets such as “Swan Lake” and “Le Corsaire” with finesse, humor and what the Austin Chronicle calls, “A selfdeprecating brilliance.” 8 p.m. Parker Playhouse. 707 NE 8 Street, Fort Lauderdale, 33304.

The Week but what really takes the cake is “Star Wars” Day. May 4 is a day to celebrate all things Star Wars, and if you’re a fan, this is probably old news to you. Green Room will be holding their second annual “May The Fourth Be With You” event, and while it’s not mandatory to dress in costume, those wookies won’t be very forgiving if you don’t. 10 p.m. Green Room. 109 SW 2 Ave, Fort Lauderdale, 33312.

Intergalactic Nemesis: Sci-Fi Meets The Stage o“Intergalactic Nemesis” is one of those rare experimental projects that will thrill, entertain and have you in total awe. When Molly Sloan and her assistant discover that alien sludge monsters are trying to invade Earth, they find that they’ve bit off more than they can chew. Over 1,200 images are projected on stage, with three actors, one Foley artist and one keyboardist performing all of the story’s voices, music and sound effects to create an unforgettable experience. 7 p.m. Kravis Center for the Performing Arts. 701 Okeechobee Blvd, West Palm Beach, 33401.

Pig Dance #57 oPig Dance: where pigs from all walks of life come to dance. But seriously, this was voted the Best Bar for Cruising of 2013 by readers of the Florida Agenda. The once a month Pig Dance is a chance for you to unleash your inner beast and just completely let loose. DJ Roke Carrera from Spain will be providing dark, dance-worthy music and the “woofs” that come out of the woodwork will keep you there until the lights come on. 10 p.m. Ramrod. 1508 NE 4 Ave, Fort Lauderdale, 33301.

Nadastrom (helmed by Dava Nada) has over 21,000 likes on Facebook, just under 10,000 followers on SoundCloud and is credited as the creator of the genre Moombahton (think house meets reggaeton). Bring your sombrero if you want to get really wild. 10 p.m. Grand Central. 697 N Miami Ave, Miami, 33136.

5k Of Color oColor Run is a 5k with a bit of a twist. Instead of dressing like a superhero or wading through mud, you get to run through blasts of non-toxic colored chalk. It’s fun, its safe, and of course, it’s nice to look at. The 3 mile run focuses less on who finishes first and more on enjoying the experience. Whether you participate as a team, family, couple or even if it’s a goal you want to personally reach, Color Run really encourages everyone to joyfully participate. 7:30 a.m. Huizenga Plaza. 32 E Las Olas Blvd, Fort Lauderdale, 33301.

Hot LIST

5 Reasons Why France Is Beating Us By Grant James America is our home. We love it, hate it, complain about it, then come together in times of need. We are proud individuals, but we’re missing some keys things. Yes, gay marriage being one of them, but there are some other things that Europe simply does bettter than us. In particular, France.

5

The best food you’ll ever encounter. Rich sauces, heavy influences from cheese....need I really go on? Okay, I will. The best wine you’ll ever have will compliment the best food and then when you get to your dessert course, you’ll agree with me 100%. One word: fondue.

4

When moving from one home to another, you get a paid day off. Why wouldn’t every country practice this? When you move, you always end up doing it on the weekend or on your days off. Then, your days off when you should be resting and relaxing, are replaced with grueling, heavy lifting, and of course, total rage. Let’s face it: moving is never fun. But we would definitely be able to cope with it better if we were getting paid to do it.

34

guymag.net

theguymag

theguymag

3

Their farms export more agricultural food products than any other European nation. They grow food locally, and then consume it. What a strange, ridiculous notion. Why wouldn’t they just get it flash pasteurized from a country halfway across the globe? Weird.

2

On the year of your wedding, you get seven days off from your employer -- paid. Honeymoons can be stressful. My sister actually got stuck in the Bermuda Triangle on her honeymoon. Seriously. But what’s more frustrating is the financial strain that is caused. If you got paid time off for your honeymoon...face it: you’re having the best sex of your life, and you’re being paid to do it. Legally.

1

Gay marriage is legal. This is a given. Gay marriage is now legal in France and we couldn’t be happier. The country may be somewhat divided, but their liberal population is pushing positive changes left and right. Just think: a legal, French wedding with paid time off for the honeymoon. A dream come true.

Sukhothai Thai Cuisine with a Happy Face By Richard David Chamberlain

o

Sukhothai is a northern province in Thailand, dating back to the 13th century and nestled in the valley of the Yom River. It was the first capital of Siam, and in case you’ve never been, it’s a tranquil place. Lots of zen to spare. While it may seem a radical jump from Indochina to Fort Lauderdale, Sukhothai on East Sunrise Blvd. brings the flavor of Siam into Gateway Plaza. Sukhothai means “Dawn of Happiness,” and after eating at this peaceful haven of exotic tastes, happy you will be. The appetizers offered at Sukhothai run from the traditional Spring Rolls ($5.95), the far healthier Summer Rolls ($5.95)—fresh veggies and shrimp wrapped in Vietnamese rice paper, and Ka Noom Jeeb Dumblings ($7.95)—six steamed dumplings with shrimp, chicken, bamboo shoots, mushand this is where Sukhothai is unique. Cruise Costa Rican Beaches and Through the Panama Canal - Part 3 Aboard the msy Wind Star By Robert Elias Deaton

o

Quepos, Costa Rica is one of those quaint beach towns with tiny stores painted in bright colors and cafes that scream charm and authenticity. The first port on the eightday msy Wind Star sailing adventure from Source Events, Quepos was once a bustling banana capital, before the Panama disease plague wiped all that out. Tourism fortunately saved the day and Quepos was reborn in an explosion of charm. Located right next to the picturesque Manuel Antonio National Park white sand beach (a scuba hot spot), Quepos is full of internet cafes, which unfortunately were all closed during our visit, since the Wind Star arrived in Quepos on a Sunday—the Costa Rican day of rest. Finding Internet service was our main reason for leaving the luxury of the sailing yacht. Internet service on the Wind Star is slow and prohibitively expensive--costing $89 for 60 megabytes of service. Converting that to a number of minutes is impossible, since the rate is based on the type of data being downloaded. Text takes less broadband than pics or videos. A $40 round-trip cab ride to Hotel By day two, we found ourselves off the coast of Golfito, known for its sports fishing and the Duty Free Shopping Centre (Deposito Libre Comercial de Golfito), near the border with Panama. It’s also home to Fish Hook Restaurant located on the pier, popular with locals and tourists alike. In the evening, costumes ruled the pool deck of the Wind Star as the Full Moon Tropical Fantasy Party held center stage, where more than a few Tarzans found a home among a bevy of Carmen Miranda lookalikes. The following morning, a spectacular sunrise greeted our arrival at Isla Colba, our first Panamanian port, and our first chance to see a salt-water alligator up-close and personal. This 12-footer was big enough to have a name—Tikko—and a reputation—lazy. The unscheduled appearance at fitness trainer Andy Kress’ beach serenity and meditation class made the rounds of the shipboard gossip, leaving all those who missed the class (and Tikko) to settle for photo documentation The Source Events and Wind Star crew coor-

dinated an incredible ocean front barbecue—no easy task on a island whose only improvement is some rest rooms with fresh water showers. But the food spread and drinks were absolutely first rate; though we’re still curious how the team transported a hot barbeque back to the ship. Yet as grand as the Isla Colba beach barbecue was, it paled in comparison to one given onboard the Wind Staronboard to celebrate its long collaboration with Source Events after a full day of sailing at sea. A full suckling pig took the spotlight along with lobster, shrimp, crap claws, fillet, chicken breasts, salads, and an array of desserts that would be the envy of any pastry chef. “We are pleased to be the exclusive producer of all-gay Windstar Cruises, which has consistently been named best small cruise line by readers of Conte Naste Traveler,” company founder Craig Smith said. “What makes our Source Events Windstar Cruises so special is the intimacy of sailing on your own private yacht with like-minded guests from around the world.” It’s hard to argue with Smith’s assessment of the special time this group spent bonding and sharing intimate moments. Many had been repeat Source Events guests and none would deny Smith’s suggestion that the “experience is always unique and magical.” Next week, we’ll share the dramatic conclusion of the voyage—crossing between oceans through the Panama Canal.

Put The Sizzle and Burn Back Into Your Workouts! By Tom Bonanti

o

Summer is nearly upon us and as the mercury climbs the men of South Florida respond by taking it all off...in the gym, in the clubs, at the pool and on the streets. As the seasons change, it’s also a good time to re-evaluate your workouts. Take an honest look in the mirror, chart your measurements again, add some new routines to your program. In short, turn up the heat and make that body sizzle for the tropical months ahead. Here are a few tips to guarantee your success. Hitting the gym and doing regular cardio can keep you lean, but only if you’re getting enough quality sleep. Skimping on sleep and giving into stress can increase the levels of cortisol and estrogen in your system, which can lead to an increase in deep abdominal fat. Sound ugly? It is, but besides that expanding waistline, you are more susceptible to colorectal cancer and heart disease. Relax this summer and sleep – 8-10 hours a night and you’ll store less fat. Drink more. Not booze! Instead, try a few cups of hot, freshly brewed green tea every day. It is a powerful anti-oxidant which is good for your skin and it helps fight cancer. Researchers say that green tea also contains potent ingredients which help breakdown fat. And yes, drink more water and stay hydrated especially if you’re working or exercising outdoors. Get the most out of your cardio. Bored with the same old jog and power walk? Pick up your pace

guymag.net

and you’ll burn an average of 25 percent more calories. Try interval training three times a week for 30 minutes. Interval training alternates brisk walking and running with shorter intense periods of jogging, running, calisthenics, etc. When walking, your intensity should be such that you can only speak a few words at a time. Carry light 5 or 10 lb dumbbells with you as you’re moving. Doing cardio burns fat and improves heart and lungs, but pumping iron is also a must! Moderate to high intensity weight training twice a week helps build solid, lean muscle, and the more of this you carry, the more calories and fat you burn all the time. If you’re already doing this, then add an extra hour a week of weight training to your weekly workouts. Use the extra time you have in the summer to make progress in those areas of your physique that are lacking…six pack abs, bigger biceps, etc. Looking fit and feeling healthy is about 65% good nutrition. Never skip breakfast and remember to eat smaller meals/snacks every 2-3 hours each day to keep your body from storing fat. Never eat within three hours of retiring. Eliminate as much fat from your diet as you can and you’ll still get enough of the healthy fats you need from whole grains and lean chicken and fish. This summer make it happen. Achieve the hot body you’ve been dreaming about! For more sizzling summer workout advice, contact TrainerTomB@aol.com now!

Pastor should admit mistakes, aPologize and reach out to all his flock

M

y Fellow Members and Former Members of The Sunshine Cathedral. I love our church. So, I did some research to find out why so many long time members have left and are leaving. This is what I call positive research and the results could help make The Sunshine Cathedral a better place to worship. But, I don’t think our Preacher can accept the results. It seems every time someone questions why something is done or suggests an alternative, he has a very negative feeling toward the questioner. I believe he thinks that it is a personal attack on him. He does not seem to see that feedback can make him a better Preacher and maybe someday, a better Pastor to his flock. Why did I do research in the form of a survey? Because, the leaders of the church do not want to hear the TRUTH. In fact, it seems open and honest discussion about the many who left the church is not allowed. The last two years at each of the annual congregation meetings, I was the only member to ask questions. I asked why so many members were leaving Sunshine Cathedral? No answer from the preacher. The January 2013 meeting I said I had a list of more than 100 long-time members who left the Cathedral. I asked Durrell if he wanted a copy. He said NO! Can you believe that? As I continued to ask another question, I was told by a member behind me, to shut up and sit down. I turned around and told that member to go to hell. Then it was announced the meeting was over! No more questions, no more discussion. This experience made me feel that

64

a survey was needed because I suspected that our preacher and staff might be covering up something. This survey tries to expose the truth! So, I did this survey at my own expense. I hope you will enjoy reading the results, which are based on 44% return of 134 questionnaires. For a copy, please email me: PASTORMUSTGO@aol.com. I tried to share the survey results with Durrell and other members of the church board. When told I couldn’t, I explained I would pass out the results to all members in the parking lot. But, Ed Johnson, a paid church staffer, said: “I WILL HAVE YOU ARRESTED BY THE SHERIFF IF YOU GIVE OUT THIS SURVEY ON CAMPUS.” I’m sure you’ll agree, it was not a very Christian response on his part. What is he afraid of? But, it is all too typical of a preacher and staff member who are closed minded and attempt to bully others to keep quiet. I ask you....when many members are leaving or have left....why can’t we speak or discuss it at the church annual meetings. Why can’t we speak or discuss it at the board meeting. Why can’t we let members know why others are leaving the church? What happened to FREEDOM OF SPEECH? It is my church too. Why can’t we be concerned about our church members? Why can’t we talk about why more than 150 long time members have left and what can be done to try to bring them back or keep more from leaving? My survey is NOT negative as has been stated. But a very positive effort because the responses expose the truth of what is happening at the Sunshine Cathedral. I hope we all guymagtube

A true leader and pastor would do so, a divisive dictator would not. Which one is Durrell Watkins?

pray that Durrell Watkins can become a better preacher. With insight from the survey results, we all can hope to see a better Cathedral for everyone. I hope that our EX members who have left might return! But so far, the preacher still doesn’t want people to speak the truth. We are only supposed to talk about positive things as he dictates, which we all know is just his half-truth. It’s like he wants us to drink his version of kool-aid, without thought or question. He doesn’t want to hear what we have to say. In fact, his last sermon was about me and attacked my freedom of speech. He showed on the big screen in the sanctuary, a person with tape across the MOUTH. It was directed at me to keep my mouth shut. Now you see why I must turn to and publish this in the media. We must try to let people know the truth. We must let people know why many longtime Christian members feel they must leave their church. The Sunshine Cathedral is my church too. I will not leave, even though the preacher has asked me to find another church. You guessed it. I refused. I will be at the church for the long haul, to see preachers come and go. I am a Christian that believes a good shepherd will find out why any sheep leaves his fold. And then, fix the problems. Our preacher seems not to follow the teachings that OUR LORD has taught us! Why our preacher did not want to do this study is unbelievable! Why doesn’t he want long time members to stay at the church? Why he cannot practice what he preaches makes me think he has a problem! He and his staff seem to be bullying people so he can have his way, without question or discussion. He seems to hope that people who disagree will leave the church. What kind of church leader is that? Yet, he could take this study, listen to the reguymag.net

sponses and become a better minister. If the past is any indication, he will probably become bitter and accuse me of not being a positive member. We once had a Cross on our Steeple as a symbol of our Christian church. It is gone. We sing the Lord’s Prayer, but only with Durrell “approved words.” We sing hymns, but only with Durrell “approved words.’ We pray, but only with Durrell “approved words.” We used to have wonderful music, but the choir has decreased to about ten volunteers and two paid. Instead of hearing our 1/2 million dollar pipe organ, we have a poorly played guitar as our lead worship instrument. He removed the words Father, Son, Kingdom and all the other words that we are told are so offensive to women. It seems he has alternative plans and is using the church to do them to fulfill his fantasy world. He seems happier when dressed as a Drag Queen looking for an audience. And, it appears he uses the church to fulfill his childhood dreams of becoming a star, rather than being a pastor, in the true sense of the word, to ALL the flock at the Sunshine Cathedral. Let’s encourage our members to speak freely and openly. Let’s solve our problems. Let’s leave behind the dictator style of leadership and encourage all to participate. Let’s make our members happy and ask the many who have left to return to the fold. I am a very positive member of our Church, with hopes of seeing Jesus and His Christian teachings back again at THE SUNSHINE CATHEDRAL. Blessings and thanks for reading this,

Joe Mumpower
