In the end, the degree to which water security for the countries of the region is attained will directly depend on the degree to which policy makers see appropriate management of the region’s river basins as a precondition for sustained rapid economic advance.
A Sustainable Water Future The five key dimensions of water security referred to at the beginning of this section can be mapped in terms of their urgency, with the first of these dimensions (satisfying household water and sanitation needs in all communities) being the most urgent. Figure 5.2 depicts these five dimensions
