As a contemporary of Bach en Telemann, Christoph Graupner (1683-1760) is one of the most fascinating and at the same time most underestimated composers of the German Baroque. After decades of revival in early music, it is right to get an idea about this extraordinary composer and his work, deserving our attention both on a quantitative and qualitative basis. In 2010 we celebrate the 250th anniversary of his death. He should be a known composer by then, his music being performed on alle stages around the world. His instrumental music (ouvertures (85), concerti (48), symphonies (112), chamber music, harpsichord pieces), but also his opera's and mostly all of his wonderful religious music (1418 chorale cantatas!), almost completely written for the court at Darmstadt, remain to be discovered by musicians and public, waiting for editions, recordings and concert performances ... The Graupner 2010 Project, initiated by conductor Florian Heyerick as part of his doctoral and musical research, is contributing to this exciting renaissance of a once and now historical and musical highly appreciated composer. Please visit : www.graupner2010.org searching the digital catalogue of his work and looking for a survey of (upcoming and existing) recordings, editions, concerts, etc.

The Graupner 2010 Project is supported by University College Ghent (B) - Faculty of Music Muziekcentrum De Bijloke Gent (B) Christoph Graupner Gesellschaft Darmstadt (D)
