Karsyn Freeman was voted the Most Valuable Player of the Pacific League by the league's coaches. Freeman helped lead Raymond to a co-championship in the league along with Ilwaco and Forks,
Raymond junior Kyndal Koski was chosen for the first team along with Keira Johnson (Jr, Forks), Tala Mitchell (Sr, Chief Leschi), Mikaila Warfield (eighth grade, Ilwaco), Olivia McKinstry (Sr, Ilwaco), and Kyra Neel (Sr, Forks). Ned Bittner of Ilwaco was named the Coach of the
Inchelium out-rebounded Valley 50-34 and the Vikes committed 18 turnovers compared to 11 for the Hornets. Willapa was 15 of 42 from the floor and 10 of 14 from the charity stripe. Inchelium was 19 of 73 from the field and 5 of at the foul line. The longest scoring runs were IHS (18-3) and WVHS (8-2). There were 3 lead changes and 2 ties.
Willapa Valley junior Hadlee Russell tied the game at 25-25 but IHS responded with a basket, a 3-point play, a steal and a bucket, and a trey to forge ahead 36-27. Zalissa Finley's basket put IHS up 38-28, followed by another trey and then a putback by Finley for an insurmountable lead of 43-28, which was the biggest lead of the game. Valley fought back and outscored IHS 15-8 from that point. Ninth grader Lauren Matlock's (Honorable Mention CVL) trey cut the deficit to 51-43 with 1:15 remaining but two more turnovers sealed Valley's fate.
Inchelium (19-3) moved on and ended up claiming fifth place and a trophy. The Hornets closed their season at 20-5.
Patrick popped in 8 points, handed off 3 assists and stole the ball 3 times. Also scoring for WV were Matlock (8), Russell (2), and Quezada (2).
Inchelium was led in scoring by AnnMarie Simpson (12), Zalissa Finley (10), Hailey Peone (10) and Isabella Finley (8).
State Scores Recap
Saturday, #1 Neah Bay (23-1) won the state championship over #2 Mossyrock (22-4) 56-54. Mount Vernon Christian (24-5) claimed third place with a 56-40 victory over #5 Inchelium (20-5), which took fifth place. Seventhseeded Oakesdale (23-5) placed fourth after humbling #8 Waterville-Mansfield (20-8) 55-28.
Friday's semifinal scores were #2 Mossyrock 58, #5 Inchelium 33; and #1 Neah Bay 64, #4 Mount Vernon Christian 41. The two loser-out scores on Friday included
Year by his peers. The second team includes Kadie Wood (Sr, Forks), JoAnne SatiacumBillie (Sr, Chief Leschi), Kassie Koski (Fr, Raymond), Zoey Zuern (Sr, Ilwaco), and Raydynn Morley (Sr, South Bend).
