A great foundation and powder is a must, as it sets your make-up and canvas. Anything from MAC is suitable, as they have a great range, so speak to someone at the counter for something that will suit this look, suit your skin tone and is versatile to wear. You are aiming for classic pillar box red pouts, so ensure that the make-up doesn’t detract from the look on your lips, but instead primes your skin for red pouty lips. Using a lip brush, after priming your lips and setting with a hint of powder – (using a touch of light powder will give you a reflective quality to red hot lips), carefully line the lips and fill in with a great classic matte red lipstick. There are many ranges to choose from, expensive versions are catered for by CHANEL/MAC and you can find cheaper alternatives from companies such as NIP + FAB which are versatile products designed for someone who likes to dabble and experiment with make-up and cosmetics. If your red lipstick is too dark, and has drab mauve tones, you can add a bit of matte orangey lipstick to brighten up the look, and make you feel fresh and alive. You can add the lipstick in layers and using a tissue against your lips, brush some powder or highlighter through the tissue onto lips to set the make-up and layer up colour slowly. There are many products on the market that do this too, but using a tissue will re-create some old fashioned glamour, which is key to this look. Try a red lipstick from the Charlotte Tilbury range.
