Dear Member,
After a very cool and prolonged spring, summer is finally here and it’s great to be getting back to normal. June is typically one of our busiest months of the year for golf course maintenance as preparations for Club events like The White Alloe are in full swing as well as preparing for The Watson Challenge this month.
Weak or dead Zoysia was replaced with new Zoysia sod on many of our approaches in May and it is now rooting down and maturing nicely. High traffic was the primary reason that these areas needed to be replaced. We started using hollow tine aeration in these areas last summer to help the survival rate during the off-season. Although we have seen some positive results, we will need to repeat this process for a few more years to see the full benefits.
I’m sure many of you have noticed during your rounds of golf that the PoaCure is wreaking havoc on the poa as expected. The program is moving along as planned, and is following the same pattern that we saw on our trials during the past year. The warmer weather will help the Bentgrass spread into the areas that were occupied by the poa as well as expedite the dying off of the poa. The photo on the right of the trial area versus new treatments on #7 green shows a good example of what to expect the greens to look like next year at this time.
Enjoy your month and please contact me should you have any questions or concerns.
Regards,
Gary Sailer, CGCS Director of Golf Course Maintenance garys@fivestarlifestyles.com

Welcome summer and good riddance to a very wet spring!
We are returning to more normal operations and our team is looking forward to The White Alloe Men’s Invitational taking place from June 9th through June 12th. This tournament provides us the opportunity to showcase our Club to guests from all over the country. Although we certainly want to impress our guests, more importantly, we want our members to feel proud of their Club … inside and out.
DINING HOURS OF OPERATION
Tuesday - Saturday 11a-9p Sundays 11a-7p
As we make our way into summer, we ask that you continue to make reservations for indoor and outdoor dining at The National Clubhouse. Advance reservations are critical to our operations and assist us with planning and staffing so that we may best serve you. Thank you for your support. We look forward to seeing you soon!
Jack Meyers Director of Food & Beverage jackm@thenationalgolfclub.com

SAFETY PROTOCOLS
Platte County has further relaxed safety guidelines and the Clubhouse is resuming more normal operations. Please see the following protocols which remain in place at The National Clubhouse: Associates will still be required to check temperatures before starting their work shift. Members, their guests and associates have the option to wear masks but it is no longer necessary. Social distancing is recommended wherever possible. Associates will continue to practice proper hygiene procedures and will clean and disinfect restrooms and all member touchpoints regularly throughout the day.
Sharing this note of thanks from associate Jane Chandler who retired after 20 years with The National!
We celebrated Jane last month at an open house reception during which members stopped by to say goodbye and wish her well!

The Olde Locker Room has been repurposed to provide members with a gathering place for drinking, dining, playing cards and smoking cigars on the balcony. The venue will be staffed with a bartender and open for members and their guests, ages 21+ throughout the rest of the season on the following days and times:

Thank you to all the gentlemen who attended Men’s Night in The Olde Locker Room on May 4th! Attendees enjoyed complimentary tastings from Boulevard Brewery, hot shaves from Roosters Men’s Grooming Center and cigar specials from Ash Cigar Company.
Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays
from 4p to close
Saturdays
from 11a to 5p
